Game Guides , Path of Exile 2
Does commanding an army of minions sound appealing to you? How about being able to land consistent critical hits with a modest investment? These things can be done by the Witch Class with flying colors!
If you are looking for the best Witch builds in Path of Exile 2, then you're in the right place! We will go over the builds that survived the changes implemented in Patch 0.1.1, so you can rest assured knowing that they work without a hitch.
Since we are talking about the top Witch builds here, you can expect that the items required for them to work are quite expensive. Not to worry, our PoE 2 Store is ready and waiting to provide you with anything that you need!
Why Choose the Witch?

The Witch is the perfect class for those who want to play minion builds in Path of Exile 2. When you create this character, nodes that improve spell damage, minion damage, and mana regeneration are readily available; you just have to allocate those nodes when you receive skill points.
When you want to become a minion master, you can ascend to the Infernalist after completing your first Trial of Ascendancy. This ascendancy class can gain a substantial amount of Spirit, which is a new PoE 2 resource that lets you summon minions, activate buffs, and so much more.
The Infernalist also has the ability to call forth an Infernal Hound that takes a considerable portion of damage away from her. What's more, this loyal ally can ignite nearby enemies with its innate aura. Surprisingly, it can pair with the Fire Exposure support gem that inflicts the exposure debuff to nearby enemies, reducing their fire resistance by 20%. We don't know if this interaction is intended or not, but at least it works for the time being.
If you want to transform into a demon, you can take the Demonic Possession ascendancy node. While in this form, you gain huge boosts to spell damage and cast speed. However, you lose increasing amounts of your life per second when you have accumulated plenty of Demonflame stacks. We will give you some tips on how you can address that later on in the article, so keep reading.
How about the other Witch ascendancy class, the Bloodmage? The Bloodmage doesn't have a lot of interesting things to offer compared to the Infernalist. However, there is an area where she excels, and that is landing critical hits more frequently due to Sunder the Flesh.
You see, most spells in Path of Exile 2 do not have a good base critical hit chance. Sure, there are exceptions to this like Comet, which has a base crit of 13%, but these are few and far between. When you have Sunder the Flesh allocated, all spells in your repertoire will have their base critical strike chance increased to 15%. Now, why is this awesome, you ask? This is cool because the ability to deal massive damage with spells scales exponentially when you have "% Increased Critical Hit Chance" on your gear and on your passive tree.
Developer Grinding Gear Games (aka GGG) still needs a bit more tuning for the Bloodmage. However, if you want an ascendancy class right now that heavily improves spell crit chance better than others, then set your eyes on the Bloodmage and never look back.
Best Witch Skills to Use
In Path of Exile 2, the skills that you can get depend on the weapon you use. The Witch Class can utilize all three arcanist weapons, including the staff, sceptre, and wand. The sceptre is meant for minion builds and the wand for direct-hitting spells. Staff is the least-used of the three given that it is a two-handed weapon with not much to offer on the defensive side of things.
Having said that, here are the best skills for the Witch so far in Path of Exile 2 Early Access:
Skeletal Sniper

During the first couple of weeks of PoE 2 Early Access, people used Skeletal Arsonists more than any minion skill in the game. However, GGG made certain adjustments to the skill that hit it hard. The one that you should know is that summoning a Skeletal Arsonist now requires more Spirit than before. So, if you were able to employ 12 Skeletal Arsonists before, you can now only get a maximum of nine unless you make the necessary changes to your build to get more Spirit.
This prompted the community to look for a viable substitute for Skeletal Arsonists. Fortunately, they didn't have to veer too far away because there is another minion skill that has gained popularity since then—the Skeletal Sniper!
You can summon an army of Skeletal Snipers, which will have no problem destroying enemies with a barrage of arrows. When you use the aptly named Command skill, the Skeletal Sniper will fire a poison arrow into the sky that eventually lands on the ground, releasing a poisonous gas cloud in the process. You could use a detonator skill to cause a massive explosion, dealing fire damage in a relatively large area.
With enough investment into Spirit, you can summon 15 or more Skeletal Snipers at a time!
Comet

Comet is a hard-hitting cold damage spell that, by itself, is enough to deal massive damage. However, it is often utilized as part of a meta-skill setup, where you use Cast on Shock or Cast on Freeze to automatically trigger the gem when the requirements to cast it are met.
Using a meta-skill to trigger the spell removes the inherent downsides of self-casting Comet. For one, a Comet that is triggered by a meta gem does not prompt you to jump backward. Additionally, multiple comets can rain down from the sky when cast this way.
You just have to address the mana cost associated with triggering Comet. However, if you are able to do that, this spell is amazing when used in conjunction with another primary ability.
Skeletal Frost Mage

Apart from the Skeletal Sniper, the Skeletal Frost Mage saw a huge uptick in usage rate as well. These minions also hurl projectiles at the enemy, albeit their attacks deal cold damage, which can inflict Chill and Freeze.
In addition, using the Command skill forces your Skeletal Frost Mages to cast huge explosions, dealing cold damage to enemies that are nearby.
Just by sheer numbers, you will summon three fewer Skeletal Frost Mages compared to Skeletal Snipers due to the higher Spirit cost per minion. Despite the lower number, the Skeletal Frost Mages provide more utility thanks to their ability to damage, Chill, and Freeze monsters just by doing what they do.
Impending Doom

Impending Doom is a rather interesting ability in Path of Exile 2. Unlike the other spells mentioned so far, Impending Doom is actually a support gem that you socket alongside any curse of your choosing. When you cast that curse on the enemy, Impending Doom will then unleash a Doom Blast that deals considerable amounts of chaos damage after the curse spell expires.
The issue with Impending Doom is that curses have a relatively long duration of six seconds or more. If you are relying on Impending Doom to kill enemies, the long wait feels like an eternity in PoE 2.
The good news is that there are ways you can manage that, such as using the Cursed Ground Support, which removes the need to wait for the curse to expire, causing Doom Blast to occur immediately.
Hexblast

Hexblast is another high-damage spell that requires some setup in order to be cast. It can only be used on enemies that are affected by a curse. That might seem cumbersome, but the good thing is that GGG implemented various tools you can utilize to make things a whole lot easier.
To use Hexblast without manually casting curses, you simply activate Blasphemy to make your curses affect a wide area around you. So long as enemies are close enough to be affected by your curses, you can cast Hexblast to your heart's content!
Best Witch Builds
Are you excited to know our picks for the best Witch builds in Path of Exile 2? Before we disclose our list, there are a few things that you need to keep in mind.
First, the builds that we are going to highlight in this article have survived the changes implemented in Patch 0.1.1. If you are curious about this update, you can check out our Patch 0.1.1 article for more information.
Second, since the game is technically still in beta, GGG might make some adjustments that could render some of these PoE 2 builds obsolete. Until that time comes, you don’t have to worry about that if you intend to create a Witch very soon.
Lastly, these builds require a ton of PoE 2 Currency to pull off. For example, there’s one build that needs several jewels to attain 90% fire resistance. Without these jewels, you will not survive for long, especially because this build requires you to be in Demon Form to deal massive damage.
With that out of the way, here are the best Witch builds in Path of Exile 2 so far:
Skeletal Sniper Infernalist
The Skeletal Sniper Infernalist is a pretty good minion build that has the power to obliterate enemies even on a budget. This minion lives up to its name because the Skeletal Sniper can truly shoot enemies from afar.
This is a pretty chill build because the hard work is being done by your minions. Speaking of which, you will also summon other minions to fight alongside the Skeletal Snipers.
The Skeletal Reaver can be enraged with just a press of a button (Command Skill), allowing it to deal more damage for a brief period. Skeletal Storm Mages inflict Shock on the enemy, causing them to take 20% increased damage. The Skeletal Cleric is there primarily to keep minions healthy and revive those that have fallen in combat.
Now, the support gems that are used on the Skeletal Sniper depend on the type of content you engage in. For mapping, make sure to use Scattershot to increase the sniper’s projectiles to two and Fork to make these projectiles hit monsters behind the primary target, leading to better map-clearing efficiency.
When fighting against bosses, replace Fork+Scattershot with Exploit Weakness and Execute. This allows your minions to deal huge amounts of damage, particularly when the boss is at or below 35% of their maximum life. The “Fully Broken Armor” condition needed for Exploit Weakness to work is handled by the Infernal Hound and Skeletal Reaver through the support gems that they use.
Take note that the Storm Mage is summoned only against bosses to inflict the Shock elemental ailment. It is not needed for mapping, which means that you can summon a Skeletal Sniper or two to take its place.
When you see rare monsters, use the Command Skill to order your Skeletal Snipers to bombard enemies with poisonous gas arrows. The resulting gas clouds will be detonated due to the Infernal Hound’s Ignite aura, thus making quick work of nearby enemies (including that pesky rare monster).
Gear-wise, invest in items that increase the level of minion skills by a certain amount. You can get five on the sceptre, two on the helmet, another two on the amulet, and five on the off-hand sceptre. The Trenchtimbre unique one-handed mace also has +3 to minion skill levels and is pretty cheap, so you can take this build for a spin early on.
Other than that, boost your defenses and get more life so that you have more Spirit to work with thanks to Beidat’s Will. Remember, minion skills in Path of Exile 2 now require Spirit, so having more of this resource means that you can introduce additional minions to your army. Aim for at least 450 Spirit to summon a plethora of minions at a time.
Here are the best skills for the Skeletal Sniper Infernalist:
- Skeletal Sniper
- Martial Tempo
- Heft
- Feeding Frenzy
- Scattershot OR Exploit Weakness
- Fork OR Execute
- Summon Infernal Hound
- Meat Shield
- Overpower
- Corrosion

- Skeletal Reaver
- Splinter

- Note: Use on rare monsters and bosses
- Ascendancy Nodes
- Loyal Hellhound
- Altered Flesh

- Beidat’s Hand
- Note: Make sure that you have “Maximum Life” modifiers on your gear wherever possible because the last two ascendancy nodes from the list reserve a considerable chunk of your life to improve Spirit and energy shield.
Critical Hit Blink Bloodmage
As previously mentioned, the Bloodmage is great when it comes to achieving a high critical strike chance due to the Sunder the Flesh ascendancy node. If you want to land big hits simply by dodging, then you definitely need to check the Critical Hit Blink Bloodmage out!
The core premise of this build is that you use Blink, which will then cast Spark thanks to Cast on Dodge. After that, Spark triggers Greater Lightning Bolt from Choir of the Storm, dealing huge amounts of damage.
Because this build can achieve a full 100% critical hit chance on Spark, you can also utilize another meta-skill aptly called Cast on Critical. You can link any active spell that you want, though we went for another Spark spell to ensure that the screen is riddled with multiple projectiles that can trigger Choir of the Storm more frequently.
Take note that Blink can only be usable immediately if you have a Temporalis that is close to a perfect roll. Blink effectively replaces the Dodge Roll, which means that you press the spacebar to teleport. Do not forget that it needs 60 Spirit to activate, so you need to equip a sceptre in the off-hand.
Your main-hand weapon is a well-rolled Siphoning Wand that has “+4 to Level of All Lightning Spells” and “100% Increased Critical Hit Chance for Spells.” The latter mod can also roll on a Sapphire Jewel, so you may have to populate a few of your jewel slots with Sapphires specifically for the purpose of hitting that 100% mark.
Since this Path of Exile 2 Witch build leans heavily on critical hits, you might as well use Atziri's Acuity too. These unique gloves not only increase your chance to critically hit enemies with your spells, but also allow life leech to recover HP instantly (instead of waiting several seconds). If you're wondering where the life leech comes from, it is through the Bloodmage's Vitality Siphon ascendancy node.
If you do not have a 100% critical hit chance yet, you can utilize Eye of Winter to apply Critical Weakness on your enemies. This debuff increases your crit chance against affected targets by 10%. It’s not much, but it will help you get by.
When fighting pinnacle bosses, you can summon a Skeletal Warrior and use Soul Offering to gain more spell damage for several seconds. This is optional and is only recommended if your damage is not yet enough to kill bosses in an instant.
You can only pull this build off if you have plenty of PoE 2 Divine Orbs on hand. That’s because the Temporalis itself already costs upwards of 250 Divines at the time of writing. The Siphoning Wand with +4 to lightning spell skills and critical hit chance for spells also cost a ton!
Anyway, if you have the Path of Exile 2 currency to invest in the items just mentioned, you can find the ideal skill gem setup for the Critical Hit Blink Bloodmage below:
- Cast on Dodge
- Spark
- Chain
- Acceleration
- Cast on Critical
- Spark (or any other spell of your choosing)
- Impetus
- Energy Retention
- Conduction (if using Spark or other lightning spell)
- Blink
- Arcane Tempo
- Unbreakable
- Wind Wave
- Eye of Winter
- Ricochet
- Pierce
- Deceleration
- Lightning Bolt
- Concentrated Effect
- Considered Casting
- Spell Echo
- Ingenuity
- Note: This is granted by Choir of the Storm. Use this if you don’t have Temporalis to set things in motion via Cast on Critical Strike
- Grim Feast
- None
- Soul Offering
- Ablation
- Danse Macabre
- Persistence
- Skeletal Warrior
- Only used to activate Soul Offering
- Spark
- Wildshards
- Fork
- Unleash
- Note: This is self-cast if you don’t have Temporalis yet (use this instead of Lightning Bolt if you want more projectiles)
- Ascendancy Nodes
- Sanguimancy
- Vitality Siphon
- Gore Spike
- Sunder the Flesh
Frost Mage Infernalist
While the Skeletal Snipers can be very damaging against map monsters, the Skeletal Frost Mages can deal damage and keep enemies chilled or frozen at the same time. The Frost Mage Infernalist is almost identical to the Skeletal Sniper Infernalist above, though with some differences that we will discuss shortly.
First of all, this build utilizes Eye of Winter to apply Critical Weakness to enemies. This debuff can greatly amplify the damage done by the Frost Mages, which makes clearing maps a cinch.
On top of that, this build summons another type of minion called Raging Spirits. These minions hone in on targets automatically without any user intervention. These are summoned when you cast Flame Wall. Because of Flame Wall, however, screen clarity is a bit of an issue with the Frost Mage Infernalist.
Anyway, another major difference between this build and the Skeletal Sniper Infernalist is that Hypothermia is utilized instead of Vulnerability. This curse reduces the cold resistance of affected enemies by a considerable amount. Cast this against rare monsters and bosses.
Other than that, you still use Pain Offering for more minion cast speed and damage, Skeletal Storm Mages to inflict Shock, and Skeletal Clerics to revive fallen allies.
You can find the ideal skill setup for the Frost Mage Infernalist below:
- Skeletal Frost Mage
- Arcane Tempo
- Scattershot
- Feeding Frenzy
- Wildshards

- Summon Infernal Hound

- Loyal Hellhound
- Altered Flesh
- Beidat's Will

Infinite Comet Infernalist
Path of Exile 2 is a fun game to play because you can discover certain combinations that are simply amazing and this next build on our list is a testament to that philosophy. The Infinite Comet Infernalist has actually survived Patch 0.1.1 mainly because Barrier Invocation still works the same as before said update went live.
This is a complex build, but we'll try our best to explain the gist of it. Basically, this build works thanks to the Infernalist's Pyromantic Pact ascendancy node. This replaces your mana completely with a new resource called Infernal Flame. Every time you cast anything that consumes mana, you gain Infernal Flame.
Once you reach max Infernal Flame, it resets to zero and deals fire damage that reduces your life and energy shield at the same time. Your maximum Infernal Flame is relative to your total mana, so you want to keep it below 1,104 for the loop not to be disrupted.
It is also mandatory for your socketed spells to not go beyond level 19. This is because when you are in Demon Form, you gain +6 levels to your spells, which results in a level 25 spell. Since we utilize Comet on this build, each time the spell is triggered, it costs 552 mana (with Spell Echo's multiplier) with two comets raining down on average. Hence, the 1,104 mana that you should aim for.
Additionally, Barrier Invocation is a core part of the Infinite Comet Infenalist build. You will socket Comet into this meta-skill. Each time your Infernal Flame resets (upon reaching max), you gain energy that will cast Comet indefinitely. The loop will not end so long as you are able to take care of the damage to your life and energy shield.
Of course, you still need something to set things in motion. So, you cast Hypothermia, which will spend Infernal Flame for the infinite loop to begin. The Eternal Youth keystone passive is also allocated so that your Life Flask will recover energy shield instead of your HP.
Speaking of HP, your life must not exceed 400 HP because going beyond that may cause Demon Form to shut down due to the increasing Demonflame stacks. However, you can freely increase your energy shield as high as you can to survive.
In terms of items, jewels are quite useful on this build. Get a couple of rare Ruby jewels with +2% maximum fire resistance and increased life regeneration rate. Next, obtain several Emeralds that have increased flask effect and life recovery from flask modifiers. If you are wondering if the flask mods work with Eternal Youth, yes, they will! Lastly, you need Sapphires that have “Meta Skills Gain % Increased Energy” which has a similar effect to the Dynamism notable passive skill.
There are a few unique items that you have to use on this build as well. Ghostwrithe converts a huge portion of your life to energy shield, so this is pretty much mandatory. Ming's Heart further reduces your maximum life. When you have the budget, invest in Against the Darkness, specifically one that grants maximum fire resistance.
All in all, for the infinite loop of this build to work, you need to attain the following values:
- 1,104 mana (a bit higher if you trigger more than two comets)
- 115% to 120% energy (depends on how much damage Infernal Flame does to you)
- 400 HP or below
- 90% fire resistance
- Life Flask with “%Increased Life Recovered, Removes % of Life Recovered from Mana”
- Comet and Barrier Invocation left at level 19 (with 20% gem quality)
- Eternal Youth, Oasis, and Heartstopper keystones allocated
- Must be at level 84 and above
The skills needed for the Infinite Comet Infernalist to work include:
- Barrier Invocation
- Comet
- Capacitor
- Considered Casting
- Spell Echo
- Spell Cascade
- Hypothermia
- Heightened Curse
- Alchemist's Boon
- None
- Demon Form
- Ingenuity

- Note: This is only usable when you have enough Spirit. Don't bother with this if you don't have enough
- Ascendancy Nodes
- Demonic Possession
- Altered Flesh
- Pyromantic Pact
- Grinning Immolation
Impending Doom Infernalist
If you want to transform into a demon that can burn enemies to a crisp, then the Impending Doom Infernalist is pretty enticing! This build did get hit with the changes made in Patch 0.1.1, particularly with the snapshotting tech from using Mask of the Stitched Demon while in Demon Form. Not to worry, several tweaks were done to account for the nerf.
Mind Over Matter and Eldritch Battery are now part of the build. The former reduces mana first before life when you take damage, while the latter converts all your energy shield to mana. The Mask of the Stitched Demon is still equipped, but only to increase the amount of life you regenerate per second.
Since the Impending Doom Infernalist now values mana more than ever before, you have to utilize several mechanics to help sustain it. You can do that by adding Mana Remnant as part of your buffs. This will occasionally make monsters drop remnants that recover a portion of your mana when picked up.
Lightning Warp and Soul Drain provide a huge quality of life as it helps you gain mana from Mana Remnants in tricky situations. Adding a Sapphire jewel with “% Recover Mana on Kill” can also aid in mana sustain.
When it comes to mandatory gear, invest in a corrupted Ghostwrithe that has a 60% conversion to energy shield (which translates to more mana due to Eldritch Battery). The Everlasting Gaze gives you some of your energy shield back, which is good for defense. Equip the Ming’s Heart to further reduce your HP, allowing you to stay in Demon Form longer.
To play this build, you simply cast Enfeeble to trigger Impending Doom. Enfeeble is supported by Burning Inscription, which will leave an Ignited Ground that can burn enemies that stand in the area. With this tech, you can take advantage of Cast on Ignite linked to Comet, making you rain down devastating comets just by casting Enfeeble!
In the endgame, you’d want to get your hands on a From Nothing jewel with Unwavering Stance or Bulwark. This is so that you can take Hale Heart and the small nodes surrounding it for a greatly improved life recovery rate.
Here is the skill setup for the Impending Doom Infernalist:
- Enfeeble
- Impending Doom
- Cursed Ground
- Spell Cascade
- Burning Inscription
- Arcane Tempo
- Cast on Ignite
- Comet
- Spell Echo
- Impetus
- Inspiration
- Concentrated Effect
- Mana Remnants
- Lightning Mastery
- Lightning Warp
- Elemental Discharge
- Overcharge
- Persistence
- Soul Drain
- Note: Only use in emergency situations to get mana from Mana Remnants
- Eye of Winter
- Withering Touch
- Unleash
- Arcane Tempo
- Note: Cast on tougher enemies and bosses to inflict Wither, which makes them take increased chaos damage
- Blasphemy
- Temporal Chains
- Encumbrance
- Heightened Curse
- Ritualistic Curse
- Note: Only use when you have Whispers of Doom allocated
- Withering Presence
- Clarity
- Note: Deactivate Mana Remnants in favor of Withering Presence. Do this when fighting pinnacle bosses
- Summon Infernal Hound
- Fire Exposure
- Last Gasp
- Strip Away
- Elemental Army
- Wildfire
- Ascendancy Nodes
- Demonic Possession
- Altered Flesh
- Beidat’s Will
- Loyal Hellhound
Demon Form Hexblast Infernalist
If you have reached this point of our Best Witch Builds in Path of Exile 2 article, you already know how Demon Form and Pyromantic Pact work, so we won’t go over them here. You just need to make sure that your HP is below 400 and that you add as many life regeneration mods wherever possible. Ghostwrithe and Ming’s Heart are pretty much synonymous with Demon Form builds.
Anyway, Hexblast only works when enemies are affected by any curse spell. So, to alleviate the need to manually cast curses, you use Blasphemy to create a Despair aura around you, allowing you to use Hexblast freely.
Since Hexblast deals chaos damage, use Eye of Winter to apply Wither stacks on the enemy. This will ensure that you deal the maximum amount of damage possible with your current gear.
In addition, this build uses a Cast on Ignite setup that triggers Comet automatically. Where does the Ignite come from, you ask? Well, you can use the channeling skill Incinerate for that. Supplement that with Solar Orb to put constant pressure and Ignite on the enemy.
You get the Pyromantic Pact on the Demon Form Hexblast Infernalist so that you can cast Hexblast and Incinerate without worrying about mana. Since you take fire damage when the Infernal Flame resets, you must have a 90% fire resistance to survive. This is possible by equipping seven jewels with +2% to maximum fire resistance each.
Here are the skills that you need if you want to try the Demon Form Hexblast Infernalist out:
- Hexblast
- Arcane Tempo
- Extraction
- Inspiration
- Chaos Mastery
- Considered Casting
- Solar Orb
- None
- Cast before Incinerate
- Incinerate

- Despair
- Ritualistic Curse
- Magnified Effect
- Ball Lightning
- Scattershot

Tips
The Witch class in Path of Exile 2 allows you to enjoy minions better than any other class in the game. However, the Witch is not only known for that. You can choose the Infernalist ascendancy class and use Demon Form to amplify your spells immensely.
If you are going to play the Witch soon, here are some practical tips:
Increase Quality of Skills
Some skills that the Witch uses actually get better when you increase their gem quality to 20%. For instance, the amount of Spirit needed to summon a Skeletal Sniper is reduced by 10% at max gem quality. Therefore, use Gemcutter's Prisms to achieve that.
Wait a While
If you chose the Infernalist as your ascendancy class because you really want to become a badass demon, you can let the Demonflame stacks accumulate to gain more spell damage. You gain a stack of Demonflame every second, so you might want to stay for 20-30 seconds before you start clearing the map.
Move Away
Another perk of the Demon Form is that it replaces the Dodge Roll with a "fly-forward." This is a much better way of evading enormous hits. This also enables you to quickly reposition yourself when needed, especially when you start to get surrounded.
Dual-Wield Sceptres
When playing a minion build, it is best that you use two sceptres (one in each hand). This is because Sceptres grant 100 Spirit by default, which can be raised by having a "% Increased Spirit" mod.
Furthermore, a well-rolled Sceptre can have up to +5 minion skills each, effectively boosting the damage output of your minions. Take note that the level increase also raises the mana cost of the Command Skill, so you need to have enough mana as well.
If you constantly die because of the lack of defenses you could get from equipping a shield, then forgo the sceptre in the off-hand and replace that with the Oaksworn or an equally good shield.
How to 'Unstuck' Minions
Occasionally, your minions can get stuck in some odd places. To address this, make sure that you have a second weapon set, preferably with another sceptre and shield. Additionally, disable any minion skill on swap so that every time you switch, the minions that you had won't be on the field.
Once the minions despawn, quickly swap back to your original weapon (weapon set 1) so that all of them will reappear right next to you.
Final Thoughts
Whether you like having a bunch of minions ready and waiting for your command or transform into a demon so that you kill enemies yourself, the Witch does not disappoint on these fronts.
Some Witch builds have complex mechanics, but we've done our best to simplify them for you so that all you need to do is copy the skills and wear the necessary items for them to work.
