OSRS Black Demons Slayer task is one of the most common tasks you will encounter while training your Slayer. Depending on your approach to this task it can be a complete pain in the ass or an extremely good task. In this guide, we will take a look at the best places to slay these old demons, which equipment works best against them, and their alternative variants. After this guide, you will no longer need to worry about skipping this task!
Best Places to Kill
Surprisingly enough unlike most monsters, this monster pretty much has only good spots with slight differences. We will start with the best and the riskiest ones first.
Wilderness Slayer Cave

If you want to have the absolute best experience rates in the game and the fastest task completion times, none can compete with the Wilderness Slayer Cave. Obviously, if you don't mind stepping inside the Wilderness, you should be doing Wilderness slayer tasks instead of regular ones. These will be much better as you will receive Larran's keys for some extra loot.
This spot is extremely good since:
- It is multi-combat
- You can place a cannon
- You can safe-spot if you want to
- You can bring along a looting bag for loot
- Wilderness slayer cave monsters drop supplies so you don't waste any money
- Wilderness weapons are extremely overpowered
- Addition of Wilderness drop table and Larran's keys for profit
If you kill the regular variant of black demons anywhere else, you will most likely lose money whilst doing so.
However it is not all sunshine and rainbows as there is always the chance of you getting PKed so always bring only 3-4 expensive items while keeping the rest of your gear relatively cheap, and always be ready to escape. Turning on player notifications from Runelite is a great idea to avoid getting killed.
Edgeville Dungeon Wilderness

If you are going to use the Wilderness, this is your second option. Although it can't even compete with the Slayer Cave in terms of loot and efficiency, it is relatively safer. Aside from the oddball that checks every world once a year for 10 hours a day, you will likely never see anyone.
The advantages of this spot are as follows:
- Not multi-combat (you can't get teamed)
- You can place a cannon
- You can safe-spot if you want to
- You can bring along a looting bag for loot
- Wilderness weapons are extremely overpowered
- Addition of Larran's keys for profit
- It is in level 5 Wilderness which almost no one checks
Again this is the Wilderness so always be vary of other players no matter how safe you feel.
Catacombs of Kourend

Catacombs of Kourend offers a great safe alternative to the Wilderness locations. The main appeal of the catacombs is the fact that you can get totem pieces. These pieces can be assembled together to make a totem that allows you to fight the boss Skotizo, who is considered a black demon! Although you can't place a cannon in the catacombs, it is a multi-combat area where you can slap on some prayer gear, put on protect from melee, and just AFK. If you are a low-level player or an ironman who does not have access to infinite prayer supplies, you can choose to safespot these demons as well. Lastly, their location is easily accessible via a fairy ring teleport.
Taverley Dungeon

Although there are more locations in which these demons can be found, we are going to mention the Taverley Dungeon as the last location. This location is an old one with a lot of memories if you are an old player as well. Taverley dungeon houses a whopping 24 black demons in one location, if this location was multi-combat it would have been the best one in terms of efficiency but unfortunately it is not.
The reason why this place is so good is the fact that you can place a cannon and hide behind some stalagmites in the southwest corner to range these demons. Doing so will allow your cannon to deal damage to all nearby demons (since you are not in combat) and allow you to kill them from a safe distance. One downside to this is the location of these demons. You will have a bad time if you don't have level 70 Agility.
Weakness & Variants
Black demons are a perfect example of a "glass cannon" mob. They are high-level with good offensive stats but they don't have anything going for them in the defensive department. Since they are part of the demon family any demonbane weaponry works extremely well against these creatures.
Stab Defence | Slash Defence | Crush Defence | Magic Defence | Dart Defence | Arrow Defence | Bolt Defence |

Skotizo
If you are doing your slayer tasks in the catacombs, chances are you have quite the stack of dark totems. Skotizo is considered a black demon and gives 618 Slayer experience when killed. You can easily kill this monster by combining the effects of a demon-bane weapon alongside your slayer helmet so it is a good alternative if you have the resources.

Demonic Gorilla
This variant of the black demons is the most challenging but the most profitable. They can be accessed after completing the quest Monkey Madness 2. They can be located in the crash site cavern. They use all types of protection prayers and attack styles. If you want to learn how to effectively slay this monster you can check out our OSRS Demonic Gorilla Farming Guide. Since they use protection prayers they don't have any defensive bonuses.
