Weapons cover a range of archetypes — sniper rifles for long-range precision, SMGs for close-quarters aggression, hand cannons for raw stopping power, and burst rifles for controlled mid-range engagements. Each weapon handles differently, and higher-tier versions come with better base stats and more mod slots. Shields come in light, medium, and heavy variants, each offering a different balance between protection and mobility. Every shield has a durability meter that degrades with use, meaning replacements and recharges are a constant need between runs.
Mods and attachments fine-tune weapon performance: vertical grips reduce recoil, extended barrels improve range, and expanded magazines let you sustain fire longer. Augments — essentially your backpack — determine carry capacity and bonus stats, making them a critical but often overlooked part of your loadout. Consumables like ammo, bandages, shield rechargers, and grenades round out every kit. Most gear can also be crafted at your Workshop once you've unlocked the right blueprints.
ARC Raiders follows the extraction shooter formula: deploy Topside, gather loot, fight ARC machines and other players, and extract alive — or die and lose everything you carried. A strong loadout doesn't just improve your odds; it determines what content you can realistically engage with. Durability wears your equipment down over raids, and the Safe Pocket protects only one item per run. Everything else is at risk, which makes having backup gear in your stash essential rather than optional.
Every item falls into a rarity tier from Common (white) through Uncommon, Rare, and Epic to Legendary (purple). Higher-rarity weapons deal more damage, shields absorb more hits, and mods provide stronger bonuses — the gap between tiers is significant enough to decide fights. Rarity also reflects scarcity: Common gear drops freely from basic containers, while Epic and Legendary items concentrate in locked rooms, high-value caches, boss drops, and event rewards.
Start with your shield — survival is the prerequisite for everything else in an extraction shooter. A solid medium or heavy shield buys you time in fights and lets you disengage from bad situations. Follow with a primary weapon that fits your playstyle, and keep backup copies in your stash for when things go wrong.
Mods come next — even a mid-tier weapon performs noticeably better with a vertical grip and an extended magazine. Consumables are last: ammo, bandages, and at least one shield recharger per run. Veterans often carry a Snap Hook for mobility and a grenade for clearing tight spaces. New players benefit more from five consistent loadouts than one perfect setup they can't replace. For long-term self-sufficiency, focus on upgrading your Workshop and collecting blueprints.
