Diablo 4 Season 12 is reportedly the shortest season of the game ever. That is because Blizzard is set to launch the Lord of Hatred expansion by the tail-end of April, so you only have a limited time left to enjoy D4 Season of Slaughter.

To ensure that you will reach Paragon 300 before the game’s next expansion drops, Blizzard has activated Mother’s Blessing, which is an event that Diablo 4 veterans know all too well. If this is your first time playing Diablo 4, then you’ll want to read this article to completion!

Diablo 4 Mother’s Blessing 2026 Overview

Diablo 4 Mother's Blessing 2026 Overview

For those who are new to Diablo 4, Mother’s Blessing is a recurring event where you earn increased XP and gold for a limited time. More specifically, killing monsters and completing quests will give you about 35% increased XP and 50% more gold.

The said event is actually more lucrative this time around with the seasonal mechanic that is implemented in Season of Slaughter. Basically, every time you slay monsters and achieve a higher kill streak, you will gain more experience as a result. With the multiplicative bonus provided by Mother’s Blessing, you should be able to reach Paragon 300 before Season 12 ends in late April!

You have to log in and enjoy this event because it only runs until April 7 at 1 PM PT.

All Active Buffs Explained

XP Boost

All the bonuses provided to you by the Mother’s Blessing event in Diablo 4 are active until it ends. The 35% bonus EXP actually works with other XP-boosting items, including Elixirs, Incenses, and additional XP granted by higher kill streak tiers.

Gold Bonus

Aside from upgrading your gear through tempering and masterworking, D4 gold is actually used for trading items with other players as well. At the time of writing, items like Griswold’s Opus are now being offered by the billions, so having adequate gold is a must if you are to get that particular item for your Shield of Retribution Paladin, for example.

Other Possible Buffs

The Mother’s Blessing event only improves the amount of XP and Gold that you get from monsters and quests. However, these bonuses are amplified when you reach at least the “Devastation” kill streak tier in Diablo 4 Season 12. Why is that, you ask?

Well, certain “bloodied” items in Season of Slaughter provide increases in EXP gain, the higher your kill streak tier is. This particular effect is often found on rings that explicitly say “Hunger: 15% Increased Experience from Kill Streaks.”

Best Activities to Do During the Mother’s Blessing Event

Do you want to get the most out of the Mother’s Blessing Event in Diablo 4? If so, here are the in-game activities you should do a lot of from now until April 7:

Nightmare Dungeons

Some say that Nightmare Dungeons are the bread-and-butter for many Diablo 4 players, not only because of the items that you could potentially acquire from them, but also the experience points you can gain, especially when you are in a party.

Now, there are two types of Nightmare Dungeon keys you should run while the Mother’s Blessing event is still active. The first is one that has the “Forgotten Wisdom” dungeon affix imprinted on it. The reason for this is that you will find an EXP Well inside, which further boosts the amount of EXP you can get from killing monsters. Plus, eliminating enemies will have them spawn XP globes, which grant some experience points when picked up as well.

The second is a Nightmare Dungeon that has the “Horadric Strongroom” dungeon affix. This is actually the preferred NMD key to run for one specific purpose: farming Obducite.

You see, Obducite is pretty scarce in Diablo 12, likely due to the fact that you no longer have to upgrade your gear further once it has reached Masterwork Rank 25 (unlike in the previous season). Thus, Blizzard probably deemed it necessary to make the said resource a lot rarer this time around.

The Horadric Strongroom, when accomplished in Torment IV Difficulty, gives you around 700-800 Obducite, depending on the reward threshold you have reached inside the area. If you have gotten to reward tier VI, you should get the full 800 per run.

On top of that, opening the reward chest inside Horadric Strongrooms will occasionally drop an Escalation Sigil, which will further your Nightmare Dungeon runs exponentially!

So, if you want to upgrade your gear and get good amounts of XP and gold at the same time, then you should do Nightmare Dungeons in Diablo 4 Season 12, especially with the Mother’s Blessing buffs active!

Infernal Hordes

If you only care about getting the most amount of EXP per hour in Diablo 4 Season 12, then look no further than the Bloodied Infernal Hordes. You need to have a Bloodied Legendary Infernal Hordes Compass in order to get inside this special dungeon.

Anyway, how does the Bloodied Infernal Hordes activity differ from the normal one? Well, there is only one major difference here, really, in that you will constantly be pestered by The Butcher in each wave. You have to kill The Butcher every time he pops up, as he provides a decent amount of EXP. In every wave, you could kill him about 8 to 10 times if your character is equipped with the best D4 items.

At Paragon 250, a single Bloodied Infernal Hordes run can get you anywhere between 3/4 of a bar of EXP filled (if not a full level up)! Just make sure to choose the Chaotic Offering once it pops up because it can give you tons of Burning Aethers every time.

Tree of Whispers

If you are not at level 60 yet because you’ve just created your character in Diablo 4 Season 12, then the fastest way for you to get to the max level is to open up the Tree of Whisper reward caches. Every time you open a reward cache, it will drop several XP globes that grant significant amounts of experience points. From a level 1 character, you will instantly reach level 25 just by opening a single Tree of Whispers cache!

Of course, EXP slows to a crawl once you reach level 55. From that point onward, I highly recommend that you complete Forgotten Wisdom Nightmare Dungeons, with keys that you can craft from the Occultist in every major hub in the game, including Kyovashad, Cerrigar, and the Kurast Bazaar, among others.

How to Get Tons of Nightmare Dungeon Keys

As I’ve explained earlier, completing Nightmare Dungeons is one way to maximize the EXP gain during the Mother’s Blessing event. Fortunately, there are a couple of easy ways to get tons of Nightmare Dungeons in Diablo 4 Season 12.

The first is, of course, crafting some from the Occultist. You will need some Sigil Powder to do this, which you can acquire from the following:

  • Salvaging unused Nightmare Dungeon keys on the Occultist
  • Opening Helltide Chests (like the Tortured Gift of Mysteries)
  • From the Tree of Whisper reward caches

The second, and arguably the more accessible way of obtaining Nightmare Dungeons, is by racking up your kill streaks anywhere in the game. This is because you will receive Brutality—a reputation that you can accrue by having as many kill streaks as possible during Season of Slaughter.

Every time you reach a certain threshold, you will be notified that you have received a Greater Bloodied Cache for your efforts. This particular reward can be acquired from interacting with the Brutality Board located in Gea Kul.

Now, why should you concern yourself with these caches, you ask? Well, the Greater Bloodied Cache not only gives you additional XP globes and gold, but it also rewards you with at least several keys, including Boss Lair Sigils and keys to Bloodied Nightmare Dungeons. So, if you don’t have a ton of Sigil Powder with you, opening up Greater Bloodied Caches is the way to go!

Play ‘Speedfarming’ Builds

For the uninitiated, “speedfarming builds” are D4 builds that are mainly built with speed and efficiency in mind. Having said that, you need to run a speedfarming build in order to rack up more kills in a short amount of time.

Here are some of the best D4 speedfarming builds that I recommend for Season 12:

  • Crackling Energy Sorcerer: This lightning-based speedfarming build can use Teleport twice (one as a skill, the other as an enchantment), allowing you to quickly move around the map. It is also one of the best at dispatching huge groups of monsters, making it one of the best in D4: Season of Slaughter.
  • Wing Strikes Paladin: If you love the Paladin Class in Diablo 4, then the Wing Strikes Paladin is more up your alley. Unlike the Crackling Energy Sorcerer, which requires that you press tons of buttons, the Wing Strikes Paladin is more of a casual speedfarming build. Simply run around the area filled with large monster packs and see them get obliterated in a jiffy.
  • Earthquake Barbarian: This speedfarming build has no problems leaping into action, literally. Just by using Leap, you will cause the ground to tremble, dealing massive amounts of damage to nearby enemies. And yes, that is pretty much all you do on this build, making it a very inviting build, both for beginners and veterans alike.
  • Evade Spiritborn: One of the tried-and-tested speedfarming builds in Diablo 4, the Evade Spiritborn is back with a vengeance! This build excels by literally using Evade to kill the Hellspawn. Make sure to equip at least two items that provide critical strike chance at higher kill streak tiers to maximize the build’s killing efficiency.
  • Heartseeker Rogue: If you like playing the Rogue Class in Diablo 4, then the Heartseeker Rogue is a pretty good option. In fact, it is one of the easier builds to play for a returning player in Diablo 4, simply because you just use Heartseeker to slay the forces of evil.

Always Activate Your Elixirs and Incenses

While “Forgotten Wisdom” Nightmare Dungeons and Bloodied Infernal Hordes exist in Diablo 4 Season 12, you should still activate your elixirs and incense. These are consumable items that you can craft via the Alchemist, which provides a small yet noticeable increase in EXP gain every time you kill a monster.

You can activate one Advanced Elixir and three types of incense at a time. For instance, you can consume an Elixir of Fortitude II to increase your HP by 10%, followed by the Spiral Morning incense to increase your stats by 60 points. You still have room for a couple more, so activating Reddamine Buzz (Life) and Soothing Spices (All Resistances) is definitely a good idea.
