Hailed as one of the best builds to start Diablo 4 Season 12, the Wing Strikes Paladin is awesome, both for pros and beginners alike. This build is enabled by the Paladin’s class mechanic called the “Disciple Oath,” which puts you in Arbiter Form for a brief period, while consequently hitting enemies from the divine wings in the said form.

In this article, I will cover everything you need to know about this build, including its mechanics, how it performs, and the best D4 items to take this thing into Torment 4 to crush any piece of content you want. Welcome, this is our Wing Strikes Paladin build guide for Diablo 4 Season 12!

D4 Season 12: How Does the Wing Strikes Paladin Work?

The Wing Strikes Paladin is one of the only builds in Diablo 4 that can function as early as level 15. This is because you will unlock the Paladin’s main class mechanic, which is the Oath System, where you can choose from several picks, including the Juggernaut, Zealot, Judicator, and Disciple. What this build requires, though, is the Disciple Oath.

When you have the Disciple Oath selected, you will be in Arbiter Form for a short period of time after using “Disciple” skills, like Falling Star and Arbiter of Justice. Running around the map while in Arbiter Form makes you hit enemies with your wings. For this reason, this build is aptly called the Wing Strikes Paladin.

Unlike the other skills available in the Paladin’s kit, Wing Strike actually doesn't scale its damage by increasing skill ranks because you cannot find it in the skill tree. Instead, you scale the damage output through other means, mostly with the gear you are going to wear on this build.

Chief among them is the Sanctis of Kethamar—a unique amulet that significantly increases the damage of Wing Strikes by up to 400%. This thing also provides a considerable chance for Wing Strikes to deal double damage, so scaling your crit chance can help you get the most out of this effect!

If you do not have the Sanctis of Kethamar yet, there is a cheap alternative in the form of the Aspect of Tyrael’s Jurisdiction. This legendary aspect increases the damage of Wing Strikes by up to 240% at the top-end. While you should invest in the Sanctis of Kethamar for the endgame, the Aspect of Tyrael’s Jurisdiction is not bad at all.

You combine those with Griswold’s Opus, and you have a powerhouse of a build that can handle anything in Diablo 4 Season 12. And yes, that includes the beefed-up version of the Butcher in Torment 4!

D4 Wing Strikes Paladin: Skill Rotation

  • Using Falling Star and Arbiter of Justice puts you in Arbiter Form, where Wing Strikes come alive. When you arrive at an area, immediately use Arbiter of Justice to be in Arbiter Form for a longer period of time.
  • Use Falling Star as often as you can because this is your mobility skill. It also puts you in Arbiter Form when the Arbiter of Justice is still on cooldown.
  • When you encounter tougher enemies, cast Consecration and Holy Light Aura to add another layer of damage over time against them. The Holy Light Aura’s “Rite of Submission” upgrade stuns enemies for a few seconds as well, activating the rare Paragon node “Insulate” for an additional 40% boost in damage.

D4 Wing Strikes Paladin: Ideal Skill Allocation

  1. 1 point in Advance
  2. 3 points in En Garde
  3. 3 points in Riposte

Notes:

  • You can make a beeline for Falling Star, Righteousness, Arbiter of Justice, and Exaltation by spending enough points on the active and passive skills before them.
  • If you find yourself struggling to defeat tougher enemies, prioritize taking passive nodes that improve your damage output, such as Righteousness, Crack in the Armor, Iron Sharpens Iron, Heavyweight, and Giant Slayer first.
  • Advance is a nice skill to help you close the gap between you and the enemy in the beginning. However, once you unlock Falling Star, you can actually replace that with Holy Bolt to add a new ranged attack in your kit. This is optional, though, and you can leave Advance allocated if you want a “set-and-forget” approach.

Wing Strikes Paladin Build: Tips

  • Get the Sanctis of Kethamar as soon as possible because it can significantly boost the damage of Wing Strikes.
  • If you don’t have the said unique amulet, settle with Aspect of Tyrael’s Jurisdiction on the gloves or amulet (for now).
  • This build requires you to be in melee range because the wings of the Arbiter Form only hit enemies when they are relatively close. Fortunately, you can do this by clicking the skill “Advance” to close the gap.
  • Aside from Strength, prioritize critical strike chance and cooldown reduction. Critical strike chance greatly boosts the damage output of Wing Strikes, while cooldown reduction ensures that the Arbiter of Justice only has a short downtime.
  • Be mindful of Arbiter Form’s duration (denoted by the small blue icon right next to Faith). If you find that you are not dealing that much damage, then you’re probably not in Arbiter Form at this moment.

PROS

+Very comfortable playstyle

+Run around and see enemies get destroyed by Wing Strikes

+Deals significant damage in the endgame

CONS

-Playstyle might be too boring for some

-Wing Strikes may attack enemies “slowly”

FAQ

Is the Wing Strikes Paladin Build Viable in Diablo 4 Season 12?

Absolutely! This build comes alive as early as level 15 (when the Disciple Oath is available) and will continue to handle all types of content in the endgame, including the Bloodied Nightmare Dungeons, Infernal Hordes, etc.

When Does This Build Become Strong?

Although you can start to have a feel for the build at level 15, you will enjoy it even more once you have the Sanctis of Kethamar equipped. Make sure to aim for a max roll because the 400% increase in damage it provides is nothing to scoff at.

What Gear Do I Need to Start?

Get a good weapon, gloves, and shield, then apply the Legendary Aspects mentioned in the gear section. Prioritize Tyrael’s Jurisdiction on the gloves since it acts the same way as the Sanctis of Kethamar, though with only a 240% increased damage ceiling.

What Are the Common Mistakes with Wing Strike Builds in D4 Season 12?

The most common mistake I see in others when playing the Wing Strikes Paladin is that they don’t keep an eye out for the duration of their Arbiter Form. You have to be in Arbiter Form in order for the Wing Strikes to occur. If you’re not in the said form and your Arbiter of Justice skill is still on cooldown, you can fix that by using Falling Star (which is a Disciple Skill).

It should also go without saying that you have to select the Disciple Oath in the “Oaths’ page in the character screen.

Is This Build Good for Beginners?

Of course! You simply activate Arbiter Form (by using Falling Star or Arbiter of Justice), and just run around the map to see enemies die in an instant!
