Genshin Impact 6.6 Phase 2 is now underway and will last until June 30! The headlining feature is the rerun of Mavuika, the Pyro Archon who wields a powerful claymore that can easily slash enemies to pieces. Of course, there’s Lohen, who is a new 5-Star character in Genshin Impact. Unlike Mavuika, Lohen wields a Cryo Polearm and takes advantage of the “Triumph” mechanic (Will to Win) from his off-field teammates to buff his damage considerably.

This short guide gives you every bit of information you need about Genshin Impact 6.6 Phase 2, including the Phase 2 banner schedule, the featured 5-star and 4-star characters, weapon banners, key 6.6 content, and some Primogem planning tips before the patch ends later this month.

If you are wondering when the event starts, Genshin Impact 6.6 Phase 2 has already begun. This event started on June 6 and is scheduled to end on June 30, so you have more than enough time to get what 6.6 Phase 2 has to offer.

Lohen is the new character that you can get from Genshin Impact 6.6 Phase 2. He is a Cryo Polearm user who has the “Triumph” (via Will to Win) mechanic that enhances his damage whenever he has his fellow Hexerei characters off-field. This is enabled when he uses his elemental skill.

Mavuika should be familiar to veteran players of Genshin Impact. But for those who are new to the game, Mavuika is a returning 5-Star Pyro Archon, whose main ability is to ride her motorcycle and beat her enemies with it when holding down her elemental skill. Arm her with her main weapon called “A Thousand Blazing Suns,” and she gains an attack and crit damage boost via “Scorching Brilliance.”

Should You Pull for Lohen or Mavuika?

With Lohen and Mavuika headlining Genshin Impact 6.6 Phase 2, you are probably wondering which of these characters you should “pull” in this update. Well, to answer that question, let’s go over the pros and cons of each character.

Lohen

The Cryo Polearm user, Lohen, has some interesting skills that are worth mentioning. Whenever you press his Elemental Skill, he enters “Masterstroke Mode,” where his attacks are infused with Cryo, and each successful hit on the enemy builds up his “Joy” meter. Upon reaching certain thresholds, pressing his Elemental Skill again will have him unleash an attack called “Etched Into Bone and Soul.” Lohen can use Etched Into Bone and Soul up to three times in Masterstroke Mode, provided that he continuously puts pressure on his foes.

In addition, Lohen’s teammates gain Triumph (via his “Will to Win” mechanic) whenever he’s in Masterstroke Mode. This occurs when the off-field characters deal sufficient damage. When maximum Triumph is reached, using Lohen’s Elemental Burst ability (called “Manifest Judgment”), allows him to unleash a series of damaging Cryo Strikes onto enemies.

Suffice it to say, Lohen is better suited as an on-field character who performs much better with the right team.

Mavuika

The Pyro Archon, Mavuika, is a bit more balanced than Lohen. Although many players utilize her as an on-field character because of her abilities, Mavuika does deal considerable damage when she’s not active.

Mavuika’s elemental skill, called “The Named Moment,” has two versions that can be unleashed via a simple tap or hold of the button. The tap version prompts Mavuika to perform the “Divine Name Unleashed,” which manifests a Ring of Searing Radiance that periodically deals damage to nearby enemies while active.

Holding down the elemental skill button makes Mavuika ride her “Flamestrider” motorbike and hit enemies with it. This is called the “Ancient Name Unbound,” which also converts Mavuika’s normal, charged, and plunged attacks to deal Pyro damage that is enhanced by Nightsoul. Besides that, Ancient Name Unbound prevents Mavuika’s attacks from being overridden by other elemental infusions.

Mavuika’s elemental burst ability is worth mentioning. Unlike other Genshin Impact characters who rely on energy for their most damaging abilities, Mavuika gains “Fighting Spirit” whenever her fellow Natlan characters that are off the field consume Nightsoul or unleash a normal attack. That is why Mavuika excels when she is teamed up with Natlan characters like Citlali and Xilonen.

When she’s off the field, Mavuika can lower the enemy’s defense by 20% when she has her second Constellation unlocked.

Lohen vs. Mavuika—Which One to Choose?

So, given their capabilities, which one is a must-have? Mavuika is the overall better choice. She is an excellent on-field character that deals massive amounts of damage with the right team and setup. Equip her with her best weapon, and she can unload critical strikes on the enemy with relative ease.

Even when she’s not active, Mavuika weakens the enemy’s defenses, making her allies deal considerable damage to them. Just make sure to have some Natlan characters in the party to ensure that she can consistently unleash her Elemental Burst.

This is not to say that Lohen is weak; actually, far from it. Lohen is a capable fighter who, with the right group members, can outperform Mavuika as an on-field character in some situations.

However, Lohen’s over-reliance on certain characters like Durin and Citlali has lowered his score a bit when compared to the aforementioned Pyro Archon Mavuika.

Primogem Planning Before Genshin Impact 6.6 Ends

Do you want to maximize your Primogems in Genshin Impact 6.6? If so, here are some valuable tips:

  • Count Pity and Guarantee Before Choosing a Banner: The game employs a “Pity System,” where you have a higher chance of obtaining more valuable characters/weapons after a number of pulls. A “soft pity” kicks in around 74 to 80 pulls, and a “hard pity” at 90 pulls. Import your wish history on Paimon.moe to see how many pulls you’ve done. If you want to secure Lohen, for example, make sure that you’re already at 80+ pulls.
  • Test Lohen Before Spending Wishes: You can actually use Lohen without getting him into your roster. You can do this by heading to the “Event Wish” menu and using the aptly named “Test Run” feature. If you are fine with his capabilities and how he performs in combat, then and only then should you spend your Intertwined Fates.
  • Decide Whether Character Banner of Weapon Banner Matters More: It can take roughly 240 wishes to guarantee a 5-star weapon. Thus, it’s recommended to spend your Primogems on Character Banners first, unless you have an abundant supply.
  • Check Remaining Events, Dailies, and Resets Before June 30: Some limited-time events reward Primogems, which can be used to get new characters and weapons. Some events that you should look out for are Klee’s Little Hexenzirkel, Phantasmal Pals, Spiral Abyss, and Imaginarium Theater.
  • Avoid Spending Genesis Crystals Impulsively: Genesis Crystals are the premium currency in Genshin Impact. If you are going to spend money, make sure to run through Paimon.moe to see if you only need a bit more pull to get the character or weapon that you want.

If you need extra pulls to get Lohen and Mavuika, RPGStash also has Genshin Impact top-up options for cheap Genesis Crystals.
