Grow a Garden 2 is now available to play on PC. Although the game has retained most of what made the original so special, there are some things that the sequel does better. For instance, you can acquire pets in one of two ways. You can either hatch an Egg and hope to get a rare pet or interact with one on the field and tame it by using Sheckles.

How We Ranked Pets in Grow a Garden 2

Each pet in Grow a Garden 2 provides passive bonuses that make every single one unique. That said, we ranked all the pets in the game based on the following criteria:

  • Ability Usefulness: Not all passive bonuses are the same. There are pets that provide incredible value, while others do not.
  • Farming Value: Pets that grant certain bonuses that improve farming efficiency or crop yield rank higher than those that don’t.
  • Rarity and Availability: Just like in the original, some pets in Grow a Garden 2 are much rarer than others. This will be compared to each pet’s usefulness relative to their overall value.
  • Trading or Collector Demand: There are certain pets that are highly sought after, particularly in the trade market.
  • Cost or Difficulty to Obtain: This goes in line with the rarity and availability of a pet in Grow a Garden 2. However, some pets that are difficult to obtain are not necessarily more valuable than a readily available one, especially in terms of passive bonuses.

S-Tier Pets in Grow a Garden 2

Unicorn

GAG2 Unicorn

The Unicorn is an S-Tier pet in Grow a Garden because its passive effect doubles the chance for your plants to gain the “Rainbow” mutation. If you don’t know how powerful that is, plants that have the Rainbow mutation have a 40x multiplier, making them more lucrative when sold.

This particular pet can be hatched from the Common Egg, though you only have a measly 0.71% chance to acquire it using that method. Alternatively, you can get the Unicorn Pet from the RPGStash GAG 2 Store for an affordable price!

Ice Serpent

GAG2 Ice Serpent

In Grow a Garden 2, rival players can initiate night raids to steal your valuable crops. To help thwart intruders, you can employ the Ice Serpent to guard your garden.

What the Ice Serpent does is it patrols your garden, and it launches a frost breath that freezes intruders at bay, preventing them from stealing anything from you.

Right now, the only way to get an Ice Serpent is for you to join a guild and plant as many huge crops as possible.

A Tier Pets in Grow a Garden 2

Deer

GAG2 Deer

The Deer is one of the best money-makers in the game. That is due to its ability to make plants grow 10% faster. If you like to harvest your crops sooner rather than later, then you must have a Deer trotting around your garden.

Golden Dragonfly

GAG2 Golden Dragonfly

The Golden Dragonfly is true to its name in terms of what it is capable of. When it flies around your garden, the Golden Dragonfly effectively doubles the chance for your plants and crops to turn Gold, granting them a 15x multiplier.

You can find the Golden Dragonfly spawn randomly on the map. Approach it and buy it for 9 million Sheckles.

Raccoon

GAG2 Raccoon

The Raccoon is the ideal pet to have in Grow a Garden 2 if your sole purpose is to steal fruits from other players at night. This pet comes in handy whenever a well-established garden from another player is unlocked and accessible.

Robin

GAG2 Robin

The Robin is another awesome money-maker in Grow a Garden, but it works differently compared to the Unicorn or Golden Dragonfly. It helps you earn Sheckles by occasionally eating a ripe fruit in your garden. After the Robin does that, it will drop some seeds as a result. The seeds can be planted again in your garden, which allows you to populate your plot of land faster.

B Tier Pets in Grow a Garden 2

Bee

GAG2 Bee

Many players might be interested in your garden, especially if you have a lot of valuable crops. To help keep them at bay, you can have the Bee patrol your garden and ward off intruders.

When an enemy player is stung by the bee, their movement controls are reversed, making it considerably harder for them to control their avatar. While it’s not as powerful as the Ice Serpent, the Bee is a more cost-effective option that spawns relatively frequently.

Bunny

GAG2 Bunny

The cute Bunny pet improves your walk speed by +5. This might seem useless on paper, but take note that you cannot sprint in Grow a Garden 2, unlike other games like Blox Fruits, where you can dash forward a bit. Combine the Bunny’s passive bonus with the Speed Mushroom, and you can go from point A to point B more quickly!

Monkey

GAG2 Monkey

The Monkey is a convenience pet more than anything. It simply swings around your garden looking for your best possible crop and gives it to you. For a Mythic rarity pet that costs 3 million, the Monkey seems to be too overpriced for what it offers.

C Tier Pets in Grow a Garden 2

Frog

GAG2 Frog

The Frog provides some utility for your gardening endeavors in GAG 2. What it does is it increases your jump height by five, which is helpful in reaching your tall crops. Unless you have plenty of towering plants in your garden, however, the Frog does not have much value if your crops can be accessed without jumping too high.

Owl

GAG2 Owl

The Owl is a bit more useful than the Frog in Grow a Garden 2, as it improves your view distance at night by 12.5%. What’s more, the Owl hoots loudly whenever a rare pet spawns on the map.

The only reason that it is in the C-Tier, though, is that the spawn rate of rare pets in GAG 2 is quite low. So, if you are not online, the Owl’s value in that regard plummets, since you won’t be there to get that rare pet anyway.

Best Pets for Farming in Grow a Garden 2

  • Unicorn: This incredible pet can randomly turn your crops into a Rainbow Plant, making it 40x more expensive when sold to the vendor.
  • Golden Dragonfly: The Golden Dragonfly is similar to the Unicorn, albeit it turns your crops into Golden Plants (instead of Rainbow). Still, Gold Plants have a 15x multiplier, which should still net you a lot of Sheckles when you sell them.
  • Deer: When it moves around your garden, the Deer can make your plants grow a bit faster. Crops that bear fruit quickly can be sold for a profit. Essentially, the Deer makes things more efficient when it comes to plant growth in your garden.

Best Pets for Trading in Grow a Garden 2

  • Ice Serpent: Unlike most of the pets in GAG 2, the Ice Serpent can only be obtained when you are in a guild that has members who constantly turn in their largest plants. The Ice Serpent has a ton of value, precisely because it takes a huge amount of effort to get one through normal means.
  • Unicorn: A Mythic rarity pet with only a 0.71% chance to spawn in maps, the Unicorn is definitely a highly tradable pet, especially with its ability to turn crops from a regular one into plants that have the “Rainbow” mutation.
  • Golden Dragonfly: This pet not only helps you earn a lot of Sheckles through selling the Golden Plants it creates, but also via trading with other players.

How to Get Pets in Grow a Garden 2

There are three ways to get pets in Grow a Garden 2. They are:

  • Hatching Eggs: Most of the pets in the game can be obtained by hatching Common Eggs.
  • Purchasing Them as They Spawn: In Grow a Garden 2, pets can now spawn on the map. You can go near a pet and purchase it using Sheckles.
  • Events: Some pets, like the Ice Serpent, can only be obtained if you participate in certain in-game events. You have to accomplish objectives before you can get these pets.

Since event pets can depend on rotating conditions, check our Grow a Garden 2 weather and events guide for details on active events, weather effects, and limited-time opportunities before committing your Sheckles or trades.
