One of the most interesting things about Diablo 4 Season 12 is that you can play as the formidable Butcher by engaging in a few “bloodied” activities in the game. You can still enjoy being The Butcher in Diablo 4: Season of Slaughter, so if you want to know how you can become the relentless killer himself, then read on to learn more!

If you need any of the new dungeon keys in Diablo 4 Season 12 without going through the hassle of farming them yourself, then you can go to our D4 Lair Boss Key, where we offer various keys, boss lair sigils, etc.

What is the Butcher Transformation in Diablo 4 Season 12?

In case you don’t know, Diablo 4 developers allow you to become the fearsome Butcher himself through some of the new “bloodied activities” in Season of Slaughter.

If you are not fighting enemies as The Butcher, he will spawn in the bloodied versions of Nightmare Dungeons, Infernal Hordes, and boss lairs due to the “Relentless Butcher” affix. For the most part, The Butcher is easy to handle, particularly in Torment I. However, things become a lot more challenging if you select Torment IV difficulty without equipping the best D4 items.

So, how can The Butcher factor into your progression? Well, he’s just there as a temporary change of pace. You don’t actually have to play as The Butcher if you don’t want to. Be that as it may, you might still want to try him out for yourself. This is because Season of Slaughter may be your only chance to become him.

How to Trigger Butcher Spawns in Diablo 4: Season of Slaughter

There are a few activities where The Butcher will hunt you relentlessly in Diablo 4 Season 12. The first and most accessible is the Bloodied Nightmare Dungeons. These are special keys that act similarly to the normal NMDs, albeit they have the “Relentless Butcher” affix, which means that The Butcher will always chase you until you get out of the special dungeon.

The second activity where you will find The Butcher is the Blooded Infernal Hordes. Many people say that this particular event activity is the best leveling spot in D4: Season of Slaughter. This is due to the fact that The Butcher provides tons of XP, so be sure to kill him when he pops up.

Take note that defeating The Butcher in the Blooded Infernal Hordes (Torment IV) is not the most efficient way of leveling up. The reason is that he has tons of HP, and he hits like a truck in T4. If you need to reach the last 15 levels to achieve Paragon 300, then you can stick to completing the Bloodied Infernal Hordes at Torment III.

Lastly, you can find The Butcher in The Broiler, which is a new boss lair that’s introduced this season. Now, if you use “The Broiler Lair Boss Sigil" to fight The Butcher, he will be accompanied by the “Relentless” version of himself as well. Double the trouble, double the rewards!

If you absolutely have to experience fighting The Butcher but you don’t want to engage with two copies of him at the same time, you could go to The Broiler yourself. It is situated just beside Gea Kul. Keep in mind that you need to have the Pound of Flesh to open the reward chest after the battle.

What is Fresh Meat?

So, what’s the incentive of fighting The Butcher, especially in his very own boss lair? Well, after defeating him, you will get a new limited-time currency called “Fresh Meat.” No, you don’t eat this item, but you can use it to exchange for bloodied gear.

There is a vendor in Gea Kul named Kael Rills who will gladly receive your batches of Fresh Meat by offering you random “bloodied” gear. Exchanging some Fresh Meat is a great way for you to deck out your character, particularly if you have just reached level 60.

Aside from eliminating The Butcher in his lair, you can get some Fresh Meat in the Slaughterhouse as well. Just slay any enemy you come across, and they will drop at least one Fresh Meat for you (or your pet) to pick up.

Where to Find Bloodied Dungeon Keys

Your initial set of bloodied dungeon keys in Diablo 4 Season 12 comes from the rewards you get from the Brutality Board in Gea Kul (on the right side of Kael Rills). You can gain Brutality by maintaining a higher kill streak while continuously fighting enemies during the period.

After acquiring all 24 rewards from the Brutality Board, you will start getting Greater Bloodied Caches. They are repeatable rewards that you can obtain simply by accumulating enough Brutality Points.

Greater Bloodied Caches may contain the following:

  • Ancestral Legendary Items
  • Bloodied Nightmare Dungeon Sigils
  • Bloodied Infernal Hordes Compasses
  • Bloodied Lair Boss Sigils
  • Slaughterhouse Keys

How to Transform Into The Butcher in Diablo 4 Season 12?

Okay, so you’ve now learned how to trigger and fight the relentless enemy, how about becoming The Butcher? Isn’t that one of the things that the developers want you to experience in Diablo 4: Season of Slaughter? Yes, that is correct!

There are three ways you can fight as The Butcher in Season 12, such as:

  • Shrine of Slaughter in Helltides
  • Ceremony of Slaughter
  • Slaughterhouse

The Shrine of Slaughter appears in Helltides. It is quite similar to the one that you see in the introductory quest for Season 12. Before you can turn into The Butcher, however, you need to have a Meaty Offering. This is a special currency that can either drop from defeating elite packs or by opening the Torture Gifts (chests) in Helltides.

The Ceremony of Slaughter will have you interact with a broken shrine that lets you become The Butcher. Only this time, you’re actually fighting against other players! The Butcher in the Ceremony of Slaughter has his HP increased significantly in a previously released update. As a result of this change, you don’t die so easily when in combat (as The Butcher) with other people.

If you want the fastest way to become The Butcher, then you have to go to the Slaughterhouse. You need a special Slaughterhouse key to be able to enter the dungeon.

Basically, you fight humanoid enemies inside the Slaughterhouse, with each one dropping Fresh Meat. If you are going to farm Fresh Meat to roll some bloodied items from Kael Rills, completing Slaughterhouses is the way to go.

The Butcher’s Skills

Playing as The Butcher in Diablo 4 Season 12 is quite an enjoyable experience. However, there is a method to the madness, wherein the right use of his skills will allow you to become efficient in farming Fresh Meat inside Slaughterhouses.

To understand what I mean, you have to know what The Butcher’s skills are. Here is a brief list:

  • Carve: This is The Butcher’s basic attack. It enables him to strike enemies in front of him, generating Bloodlust, and increasing attack speed the more it is used in the same Slaughterhouse.
  • Molten Slam: Think of this as The Butcher’s core skill. Molten Slam allows him to slam the ground, hitting enemies in a frontal cone. After generating enough resources, use Molten Slam liberally.
  • Hell Charge: Can damage enemies, but the skill’s main purpose is for mobility. Press and hold down the key for Hell Charge to quickly go from one pack of enemies to another, thus preserving your kill streak.
  • Culling: Creates a torrent of blades that surround The Butcher when used. Culling provides a movement and attack speed bonus when it’s active, so use it every time it’s available.
  • Hail of Hooks: The Hail of Hooks is a skill that prompts The Butcher to utilize his hooks to pull enemies in, while also stunning them in the process. This, combined with Hell Charge, should help you maintain your kill streaks for a longer period. This is because you have to hit something before the kill streak’s timer expires.
  • Furnace Blast: The Butcher’s ultimate skill. The Furnace Blast deals fire damage in a relatively large area. Utilize Fire Blast whenever it is off cooldown.

Now, for the best skill rotation when playing The Butcher, do the following:

  1. Activate Culling.
  2. Use Hell Charge to search for huge packs of enemies.
  3. After killing the first group, you should have your first kill streak tier. Use Hell Charge again to find new enemies.
  4. Don’t forget to use Hail of Hooks if you see that the kill streak timer is about to end. You must be facing in the direction of the enemy so that you can reel them in.
  5. Use Furnace Blast after hooking enemies with Hail of Hooks. Alternatively, utilize Furnace Blast whenever you see tougher opponents.
