Detailed Walkthrough
Finding Sylas and Starting the Quest
Just south of the Taverley player-owned house portal, you'll find Sylas - an elderly man with a walking stick and a peculiar offer. This mysterious character has some magic beans, but he won't just hand them over. First, he wants you to fetch two rather unusual items:
- A feather from Grimgnash, a griffin living on White Wolf Mountain
- A helmet from a dwarf named Rupert, who's apparently holed up in a tower near the Mind Altar
Getting the Griffin's Feather

Navigate to White Wolf Mountain from Taverley and follow the easternmost path until you spot two white lines on the ground. Cross through them and head up to find your feathered friend, Grimgnash.
Here's where it gets interesting - this griffin won't just give you a feather. Instead, he's having trouble sleeping due to howling wolves and demands a bedtime story. But not just any story - Grimgnash has a taste for the macabre. You'll need to tell him a properly violent tale by selecting these specific options:
- "I heard you were a great and mighty Griffin!"
- "There once was a graveyard filled with undead."
- "There lived a skeleton named Skullrot."
- "Skullrot was insane!"
- "Skullrot hungrily grabbed the gnome's hair."
- "Started to strangle the poor gnome."
After that final option, you can choose any remaining dialogue - your grim tale has done its job. Once Grimgnash falls asleep, snag a feather from the pile near his nest.
Quick Tip: If you mess up the story, Grimgnash will hit you for 20% of your current HP. While this can technically kill you, you'd need to repeatedly tell the wrong story for that to happen.
Meeting Rupert & The Tower

Make your way to the stone tower located between Goblin Village and Ice Mountain. The fastest route is using a Mind Altar teleport and heading south. Fair warning - you can't just walk in the front door. A rather snobbish princess blocks the entrance, forcing you to get creative.
Getting Into the Tower:
- Head around to the back of the tower
- Look for the crumbling wall on the east side
- Climb over it (58 Thieving required)
- Find the drain pipe and talk into it
- Chat with the imprisoned dwarf again and suggest climbing up
- He'll throw down his beard - yes, really
- Climb the beard (59 Agility required)
Once you reach Rupert, you'll discover he can't give you his helmet - the princess has stolen his armor and locked him up. Time to negotiate with royalty.
The Princess and the Pendant
Head north of the tower to find Princess Miazrqa. She's willing to make a deal - she'll free Rupert if you retrieve her pendant. The catch? It's been stolen by a mouse in the Witch's House in Taverley.
You'll need:
- Leather gloves (optional but saves you from 17 damage)
- 2 tarromin potions (unf)
- Door key (get from princess or under the potted plant)
- Space for 3 inventory items
The Witch's House Section:
Important: Make sure your pet is banked or in your inventory - it will prevent you from drinking the shrinking potion!
- Enter the basement of the Witch's House
- Head to the piano on the southern wall
- Play these notes in order:
- Right side: E-F-E-D-C
- Left side: A-E-G-A (For the musically challenged: counting from right to left, click keys 5, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 12, 10, 9)
- Search the piano to find:
- Shrinking recipe
- To-do list
- Two shrunk ogleroots
- Make your shrinking potions:
- Add the ogleroot to both unfinished potions (52 Herblore required)
- SAVE ONE POTION for later - this is crucial!
The Mouse Hole Adventure

Time to shrink down and navigate a rather perilous rodent residence. Head upstairs and drink one shrinking potion next to the mouse hole in the southern room. You don't need cheese or a magnet - just drink and enter.
Important Warnings:
- DO NOT enter the north-eastern grate - you'll grow back to normal size and waste your potion
- Keep Protect from Melee on - level 95 mice hit surprisingly hard
- You must collect the pendant before leaving the area
- Bank your pet if you have one
Navigating the Nail Walls: Think of these as tiny wooden ladders on your minimap. Here's the exact route:
- Climb the nail walls to the north on the eastern wall (south of the grate)
- Continue southwest and climb up two sets of nails
- Go northeast and climb down one set
- Head north to climb the final set
- Grab the pendant
- Retrace your steps to exit
Some Tips:
- The mice can hit up to 9 damage each
- Stay at high HP since multiple mice can attack at once
- If you die here, you'll need to make another shrinking potion
- The nail walls are clearly marked on your minimap - use it!
Completing the Trade

Once you have the pendant:
- Return to the tower
- Give the pendant to Princess Miazrqa
- Watch as Rupert is finally freed
- Collect his helmet
- Head back to Sylas
The Beanstalk and Glod

Preparing for the Final Challenge
You'll need:
- Seed dibber
- Watering can (minimum 1 dose)
- Rupert's helmet
- Combat gear for a tough boss fight
- MAKE SURE to bank your follower - it can't even be in your inventory
The Magic Beans:
- Sylas will give you special beans
- Find the special patch southeast of Taverley (near the tree patch)
- Look for the warning sign that reads: "This earth mound has been magically prepared. Please keep off. Farming strictly prohibited. You have been warned!"
- Plant and water your beans (45 Farming required)
- Watch as an enormous beanstalk sprouts into the sky
The Boss Fight - Glod
This fight takes place in an instanced area - here's what you need to know about death:
- Unprotected items go to your grave outside the instance
- Items left on the ground are lost forever
- Keep your second shrinking potion safe in your bank!
Boss Mechanics: Glod starts at level 118 but quickly powers up to 138. He has several special attacks:
- Ground Quake
- Drains your Prayer points
- Disables protection prayers
- Watch for the animation and quickly reactivate prayers
- Self-Healing
- Glod will occasionally restore some health
- This makes the fight longer but isn't too threatening
Combat Strategy:
- Ranged is highly effective (it's his weakness)
- Magic works well too - Iban Blast is particularly good
- Keep Protect from Melee on whenever possible
- Stay near walls for cover
- When he taunts you, you'll be forced to approach - immediately retreat after
- Keep health above 50 - his melee hits can reach 24
Finishing Up the Quest
After defeating Glod:
- He'll drop several items:
- Golden goblin (crucial quest item)
- Uncut ruby
- Uncut sapphire
- Watering can (4)
- Two big bones
- Return to Sylas with the golden goblin
The Final Steps:
- Take out your saved shrinking potion
- Use it ON the beanstalk (don't drink it!)
- Chop down the shrunken beanstalk (71 Woodcutting required)
- Talk to Sylas one final time
Tips:
- If you're boosting Woodcutting, use the shrinking potion first
- The animation can cause stat boosts to expire
- Make sure you have an axe ready
