Stat Priority & Set Bonus

Mistweaver Monks weave the Essences of Life, known as Qi, to heal themselves and their allies. This guide will be beginner-friendly, but it'll also provide enough information for veterans, so you can hit the ground running. We're going to start with stats and stat priority.

Main Stat Priority

Intellect is your primary stat. The higher your item level, the more Intellect you'll gain, which will be essential for your healing.

Along with Intellect, you'll also want to aim for better secondary stats. Secondary stats will play a significant role in boosting your overall performance, and you should prioritize them accordingly.

Comparing Secondary Stats

When comparing secondary stats, this is the general priority you should follow. However, it's important to note that we only recommend comparing these stats if you are looking at items of the same item level. Higher item levels generally always give you more power, so it's best to focus on the item level first.

Stat priority for Mistweaver Monk

Now, let's take a look at your secondary stats:

  • Haste: This stat increases your attack speed, spell casting speed, and Mana regeneration. All of these are crucial for Mistweaver Monks, as it allows you to heal more quickly and efficiently.
  • Critical Strike: This increases your chance to do more healing. A higher Critical Strike chance means your heals will have a chance to be much more potent, which is vital for keeping your allies alive.
  • Versatility: Versatility increases both your damage and healing output while simultaneously reducing the damage you take. This is fantastic because it not only boosts your healing but also makes you a little tougher.
  • Mastery – Gusts of Wind: This is your Mastery stat. Gusts of Wind causes a lot of your healing spells to instantly heal the primary target for a significant amount of healing. Additionally, Gusts of Wind has a 30% chance to do even more healing sometimes. The more Mastery you have, the more healing you'll do.

Before we move on, let's take a quick look at the set bonus you're getting this season. It's called Gate Crashers Fortitude. Here’s a breakdown of how it works:

  • Two-piece set bonus: Your healing from Enveloping Mist and Renewing Mist is increased. These two abilities are crucial to your healing toolkit, so having this bonus makes them even stronger.
  • Four-piece set bonus: When you use Vivify, it extends the duration of Renewing Mist and Enveloping Mist on the primary target for up to 3 seconds. This means that these healing abilities will be active on your target for longer, allowing you to sustain healing over a greater period.

With these two abilities, you’ll have more time to heal your allies effectively. The extended duration will make your healing more efficient and consistent, giving you a stronger presence on the battlefield.

Utilities & Defensives

Now, let's take a look at some of the cooldowns and utilities that you, as a Mistweaver Monk, have at your disposal. These abilities are incredibly important to understand, as they'll help you manage both your enemies and your allies more effectively.

Utilities and defensives overview

On the left side, we’ll focus on things you can do to your enemies, while the right side will cover abilities that help enhance you and your allies. These utilities are available across all Monk specs, as they come from the Monk class tree, so no matter your spec, you'll have access to them.

Enemy Utilities

  • Paralysis: This ability incapacitates a target for 1 minute. You can only use it on one target at a time, so it's essential to pick the right target when using this. Once an enemy is paralyzed, they’re effectively neutralized for the duration.
  • Disable: Disable reduces the target's movement speed by 50%, halving their ability to move for 15 seconds. The best part about this ability is that its duration can be refreshed every time you make a melee attack, making it incredibly useful for keeping enemies at bay, especially when you're in close combat.
  • Leg Sweep: Leg Sweep is a powerful ability that knocks down all enemies within 10 yards and stuns them. This can be an excellent crowd control tool, especially in tight situations where multiple enemies are clustered together. Using this wisely can turn the tide of a fight by disabling a group of enemies at once.

Defensive & Supportive Utilities

  • Dampen Magic: This ability reduces the magic damage you take by 60% and also transfers any harmful magic effects currently on you back to the original caster if possible. This can be crucial in situations where you’re facing magic-heavy enemies, as it dramatically reduces incoming damage while potentially putting the pressure back on the enemy caster.
  • Fortifying Brew: This defensive cooldown has a 2-minute cooldown and transforms your skin into stone for 15 seconds. It increases both your current and maximum health by 20% and reduces the damage you take during its duration. This is a fantastic ability to use when you need to survive incoming damage, especially during burst phases from enemies.
  • Ring of Peace: Ring of Peace creates a ring of peace at a target location for 5 seconds. Enemies that enter this ring will be ejected from it, creating a safe space for you and your allies. This ability is perfect for crowd control in certain situations, as it can be used to create an area where enemies are prevented from entering, allowing you to heal freely or set up your next move.

These utilities are the core abilities you’ll need to focus on. However, I highly recommend exploring your class talent tree as you become more familiar with your spec.

Take a look through your Spellbook and experiment with different abilities that may better suit your playstyle or the specific challenges you face. While these are the most important abilities to be aware of, there’s always more you can do once you dive deeper into the Monk’s toolkit.

Raid Rotation

Now, let’s dive into the really fun part—how all these abilities come together and how we use them in various environments. We'll start with a raid rotation and focus on healing, as that's the most important in these larger group settings.

First, let’s break down when and why we’re using these abilities. We’ll go over the priority order and provide some insight into why each spell is essential in your toolkit.

Dealing Damage as a Healer

It might sound counterintuitive, but your first priority is actually dealing damage. As a healer, your main focus is healing, but you can also contribute to the overall damage of the team.

When you use Rising Sun Kick on an enemy, you’ll notice a buff called Mystic Touch that increases physical damage taken by 5%. This buff makes your enemies take more damage from everyone, so you’re helping the entire team by adding this additional damage buff.

Renewing Mist

Your next priority should be Renewing Mist. This spell is fantastic because it provides continuous healing over time. It surrounds the target with healing mists, restoring health over 20 seconds.

If Renewing Mist heals a target past their maximum health, it will travel to another injured ally. Make sure not to let your Renewing Mist stacks cap out, as that would be a waste—this spell recharges quickly, so keep an eye on it and use it as soon as possible.

Rising Sun Kick & Renewing Mist Synergy

After Renewing Mist, Rising Sun Kick comes into play. When you use this ability, it applies Renewing Mist for 6 seconds to an ally within 40 yards. This is fantastic because it allows you to spread your healing across multiple targets.

But that’s not all—there’s a talent called Rising Mist that enhances this ability. Rising Sun Kick will heal all allies with your Renewing Mist and Enveloping Mist, and it extends their duration by up to 4 seconds, up to 100% of the original duration.

Rising Sun Kick synergy example

For example, if you’ve already applied Renewing Mist to yourself, and it’s set to last 15 seconds, Rising Sun Kick will extend it to 20 seconds.

Rising Sun Kick Talents

There’s another talent, PS of Mists, that further improves Renewing Mist. It grants 3 charges of Renewing Mist and reduces the cooldown of Rising Sun Kick by 1 second.

This creates an excellent synergy, as the more you use Rising Sun Kick, the faster you’ll be able to heal your allies with Renewing Mist.

Additionally, Rising Sun Kick triggers Gust of Mist, which heals all allies within 40 yards, adding even more healing to the mix. Other abilities like Spinning Crane Kick and Blackout Kick can also trigger Gust of Mist, helping heal your allies while you deal damage.

Using Cooldowns in Raids

At this point, you’ll want to start using your cooldowns depending on the situation. Here are some key cooldowns you’ll be utilizing in raids:

  • Invoke Xuen, the White Tiger (3-minute cooldown): This summons an effigy of Xuen to heal your injured allies. While Xuen is active, Enveloping Mist costs 50% less mana, which is a big advantage. Be sure to use this before casting Enveloping Mist to maximize its efficiency.
  • Revival: This ability heals all party and raid members within 40 yards, clearing them of harmful effects like poison and disease. It’s a crucial ability for major healing bursts, especially when your group is dealing with a lot of damage.
  • Celestial Conduit: This empowers you, causing you to radiate healing onto nearby injured allies and damage to enemies for 3.6 seconds. The healing and damage are increased by 6% per target, up to 30%. You can move while channeling it, but casting other healing spells will cancel the effect, so be mindful of when you use it.

Thunder Focus Tea

Thunder Focus Tea is a 30-second cooldown that you’ll use on Renewing Mist to extend its duration by 10 seconds. It also provides a jolt of energy, which powers up your next ability. Using Thunder Focus Tea on Renewing Mist is especially powerful when combined with the talents Zen Pulse and Deep Clarity.

These talents cause Renewing Mist to have a chance to trigger Zen Pulse, which heals the target and all allies with Renewing Mist for an amount based on the number of Renewing Mists on the target.

After using Thunder Focus Tea, your next Vivify will trigger Zen Pulse as well. This synergy makes your Vivify even more effective at healing multiple allies at once.

Additional Abilities

Other abilities you’ll want to use include:

  • Vivify: This spell is crucial for healing low-health players. When you use Vivify, it causes a surge of invigorating mists, healing the target and all allies with your Renewing Mist active. This ability is vital when you need to get a large amount of healing out quickly, especially if you have multiple players with Renewing Mist on them.
  • Mana Tea: This channeled ability consumes a stack of Mana Tea every 0.5 seconds, restoring mana and reducing the mana cost of your spells. It can be cast while moving, but be aware that it slows your movement speed.
  • Expel Harm: This is a self-heal, and you can only use it on yourself. It heals you and deals nature damage to enemies within 20 yards.
  • Shayan’s Gift: This ability draws in nearby clouds of mist and heals your friendly target and up to two allies per cloud absorbed. You generate clouds of mist every 8 seconds while in combat, so keep an eye on those and use Shayan's Gift to maximize healing.
  • Chi Burst: This ability fires a torrent of Chi forward, healing and damaging everyone in its path. Use this on cooldown to contribute to healing and damage.
  • Tiger Palm: Tiger Palm is part of Courage of the White Tiger, which triggers Zwen to claw a nearby enemy, dealing damage and healing a nearby ally for 200% of the damage done. This further supports the damage-to-healing synergy of your Monk abilities.

In a raid environment, your goal is to keep Renewing Mist up on as many targets as possible while dealing damage to trigger healing effects.

Use Rising Sun Kick to extend the duration of your healing spells, and don’t forget to apply your cooldowns like Revival, Invoke Xuen, and Celestial Conduit. Vivify and Thunder Focus Tea are essential for maximizing your healing potential, especially when you need to focus on high-priority targets.

Now, let’s take a look at how this rotation changes in a Mythic Plus setting. Keep in mind that we’ll still be using Conduit of the Celestials as our hero talent in both scenarios.

Mythic Plus Rotation

Now, let’s take a look at the Mythic Plus build. As you’ll see, some of the talents change, but don’t let that throw you off—these changes are designed to suit the unique demands of Mythic Plus content.

We're still focusing heavily on Jade Fire Stomp, which is a key ability for this rotation.

Jade Fire Stomp

  • Jade Fire Stomp strikes the ground fiercely, exposing a path of Jade that deals nature damage to up to five nearby enemies and restores health to up to five allies caught in the path.
  • Your abilities have a chance to reset the cooldown of Jade Fire Stomp while fighting within the path, making it a dynamic part of your rotation.

Priority for Cooldowns

Cooldown priority abilities overview

Much like in raid settings, cooldowns are a priority. We recommend using your big cooldowns first, including:

  • Shayan’s Gift
  • Invoke Xuen, the Red Crane: Summons an effigy of Xuen for 12 seconds, which will kick up a Gust of Mist when you use Blackout Kick, Rising Sun Kick, or Spinning Crane Kick. This healing effect reduces the cast time and mana cost of your next Enveloping Mist by 33%, which can stack. Additionally, Xuen’s presence makes you immune to movement-impairing effects.
  • Celestial Conduit
  • Revival
  • Life Cocoon: Encases a target in a cocoon of Chi energy, absorbing massive damage and increasing the healing over time received by that target by 50%. It also applies Renewing Mist and Enveloping Mist to that target.

The Role of Jade Fire Stomp in the Rotation

  • Jade Fire Stomp is the core ability. Stand in the path to benefit from Awaken Jade Fire, which causes Tiger Palm to strike twice and Spinning Crane Kick to heal nearby allies for 90% of its damage.
  • Ancient Coordinance (with Blackout Kick) increases the chance to reset the cooldown of Rising Sun Kick, making your rotation smoother.

Maintaining Renewing Mist

  • Renewing Mist is still a priority ability. Make sure it’s always active and being used on cooldown.
  • Use Thunder Focus Tea frequently (on a 30-second cooldown) to empower Renewing Mist and other abilities, ensuring maximum healing output.

Vivify as a Backup Healing Tool

  • If your damage-dealing abilities aren’t covering enough healing, Vivify should be your go-to spell for large healing bursts.
  • Vivify provides a surge of invigorating mists, healing your target and all allies with Renewing Mist active.

Using Damage Abilities to Heal

  • After Jade Fire Stomp, your Tiger Palm, Blackout Kick, and Rising Sun Kick will heal nearby allies based on the damage done.
  • The Ancient Teachings talent, which activates after casting Jade Fire Stomp, increases the healing done by these abilities.
  • Chi Burst is a low-priority spell to use for healing and damage when you need to move around.

Tiger Palm for Zwen

  • Tiger Palm plays a role in activating Courage of the White Tiger, which has a chance to cause Zwen to claw a nearby enemy for damage while healing a nearby ally for 200% of the damage done.

To sum it up:

  • Jade Fire Stomp is at the core of your rotation, boosting both your damage and healing.
  • Use Thunder Focus Tea to empower Renewing Mist and cast Vivify for high healing bursts.
  • Rising Sun Kick, Tiger Palm, and Blackout Kick all contribute to your healing output while dealing damage.
  • Use Invoke Xuen, Revival, and Life Cocoon for strong bursts of healing.
  • Chi Burst is a great option for movement and extra healing.
  • And don’t forget to use Tiger Palm regularly to trigger Courage of the White Tiger.

Consumables & Enchants

Let’s take a look at the consumables and enchants that we’ll be using. Some things have changed, so here's what you'll need to keep in mind:

Sockets

  • From the weekly Vault, we now get Nerubian Gem Weavers, which are optional.
  • These gems can be used to add sockets to your head, wrist, and belt.
  • Unlike Dragonflight, where you could add three sockets to your neck, we can now add two sockets to the neck and each ring using a Magnificent Jeweler Setting.

Enchants

  • Cloak: Enchant with Leeching Fangs for added leech and intellect.
  • Chest: Enchant with Leech for additional leech healing.
  • Wrists: Enchant with Daybreak Spell Fred, giving intellect and stamina.
  • Legs: Enchant with Scout March, adding movement speed to your boots for better mobility.
  • Rings: I prefer to add haste on both rings, which is ideal for Mistweavers.
  • Weapon: Go with Authority of Fiery Resolve. This gives you a chance to call upon Authority, radiating a wave of soothing fire that heals you and your four closest allies.

Consumables

  • Flask of Tempered Swiftness is your go-to flask, but Versatility Flask is also a solid option.
  • For food, use primary stat food for the best boost.
  • Algarian Mana Potion is the best option for healers, as it restores mana.
  • If you're not having mana issues, you could opt for Potion Bomb of Recovery, which increases the healing your allies receive.
  • Healing Potion isn't something I use much as a healer since I prefer using Expel Harm.
  • Algarian Mana Oil can be applied to your weapon for extra mana regen.
  • Augment Runes are now Crystallized Augment Runes, and for those, I recommend using Deadly Emerald, Quick Ruby, Quick Onyx, and Quick Sapphire.
  • Each different colored gem will boost critical effect, meaning your crits become even better.

By using one of each of those gems, your Epic Gem will perform much better, giving you a solid edge in your healing and damage.
