Campsites and Customization Options

With Patch 11.1, one of the first notable updates on your home screen is the addition of campsites. These serve as new background images for your Warband.

New campsite customization in WoW Patch 11.1

For example, on the testing realm, you can use the Anaran Overlook, which gives your characters a picturesque setting to gather around when you log in.

Unlocking these campsites is tied to completing achievements, which are categorized under Exploration in The War Within. Some of these can already be unlocked, like the “All That Kass” achievement, which uses current content.

Upon the patch’s release, you’ll immediately gain access to this campsite if you’ve met the requirements. Others, like “Going Goblin Mode,” require specific achievements within the Undermine area. These additions bring a fun and personalized touch to your login screen.

Journey to Undermine City

Accessing Undermine City requires completing a questline in the Ringing Deeps. Near the Opportunity Point area, an opening leads to a new section of the map.

Through this questline, you’ll unlock the drill transport, which takes you to the densely populated, ground-mount-only Undermine City. Alongside ground mounts, you’ll also gain access to the new Drive mechanic early in the questline, allowing for unique traversal within this zone.

Undermine City and its new content in WoW Patch 11.1

At the heart of Undermine is the Incontinent Hotel, reminiscent of John Wick. This hub serves as the location for the Liberation of Undermine raid, complete with a meeting stone and raid entrance. It’s a central point for various activities, making it a bustling area for players to explore.

The Cartels of Undermine and Renown Progression

The primary progression system in Undermine revolves around the Cartels of the Undermine, the main renown track of this patch. This system features 20 tiers, unlocking various rewards, including higher item-level gear, mounts, and other treasures.

Inside the Incontinent Hotel, you’ll find Renown Quartermaster Smacktop Skimmer, who offers rewards for resonance crystals.

One standout mount, available at Renown Rank 19, costs 11,375 resonance crystals. Saving up your crystals is crucial, as there are multiple vendors offering valuable rewards, including gear and additional mounts.

Mini-Factions and Weekly Reputation Progress

Separate from the main cartel renown, there are four mini-factions in Undermine. These operate similarly to the old system, where you choose a faction each week to complete world quests and gain reputation.

Undermine mini-factions in WoW Patch 11.1

These factions include the Bilgewater Cartel and others, each offering unique rewards, including mounts and other collectibles.

For example, the Bilgewater Cartel Quartermaster is located in the top-left corner of the map, near a large building. Speaking to this NPC allows you to purchase items, such as a ground mount for 8,125 resonance crystals. The Blackwater Cartel, located in the top-right at Blackwater Marina, offers similar rewards.

Mounts and Faction Rewards

Each faction features distinct mount options, ranging from ground mounts to flying ones, with prices varying by reputation and crystal requirements.

These mounts provide an additional layer of progression for collectors and those looking to enhance their travel options in the new zones. Beyond mounts, these factions offer other rewards, making reputation grinding a worthwhile activity for players diving into the new content.

Blackwater Cartel Quartermaster Location

To find the Blackwater Cartel Quartermaster, head to the Blackwater Marina in the top-right section of the Undermine map. Look for the first building entrance on the left. Inside, you’ll find the Quartermaster in the room directly ahead.

Here, you can purchase a unique mount—a giant blue robot-like design—for 8,125 resonance crystals. In addition to this mount, there are other items available for purchase, providing additional rewards for reputation grinding with the Blackwater Cartel.

Steamwheedle Cartel Quartermaster Location

The Steamwheedle Cartel Quartermaster is located in the Vet Works, at the bottom-left area of the map. The building here is easy to spot due to its distinct appearance. Enter the building, head down the stairs, and you’ll find the Quartermaster next to a large vet.

The standout reward is a flying mount, reminiscent of Mimiron’s Head, available for 11,375 resonance crystals. This impressive mount is only unlockable after reaching Exalted reputation with the Steamwheedle Cartel.

Venture Company Quartermaster Location

For the Venture Company, head to the yellow building in the lower middle part of the map, known as Venture Plaza. Inside, you’ll find the Quartermaster, who offers another distinct mount: a yellow recolor of the pink robot-like mount mentioned earlier. This mount also costs 11,375 resonance crystals.

Additional Mount Rewards

Beyond the mounts offered by Quartermasters, there are several others available through various means in Patch 11.1:

  • Violet Armored Growler: A pink recolor of the red mount, obtained from the Venture Cod Trove, which can be opened weekly in Undermine.
  • Green Rocket Mount: Dropped from Steamwheedle Troves, also available weekly.
  • Salvage Goblin Gazillionaire's Flying Machine: A rare yellow mount drop from Galago Garbage.
  • Personalized Goblin Scrapper: Dropped by the Gunk-Covered Thing in world quests or random activities.
  • Margin Manipulator: A blue version of the rocket mount, purchased with 25 Miscellaneous Mechanica.
  • Dark Fuse Demolisher: A gray-and-red variant available for 11,375 resonance crystals.
  • Bronze Goblin Wave Shredder: Similar to the Siren Isles mount, this drops from the Dark Fuse Trove.
  • Blackwater Bone Crusher: A chance drop from the Blackwater Trove.
  • Bombardier Mount: Another reward from Bilgewater Troves.
  • Asset Advocator: Purchased with Miscellaneous Mechanica, available from a vendor yet to be confirmed.

Raid Mounts

Several mounts are tied to the new raid, Liberation of the Undermine:

  • Floating Head Mount: Dropped by Chrome King Gwick, the final boss, on Mythic difficulty.
  • Prototype ASMR Mount: Another raid drop, potentially available on all difficulties. This unique mount features a design that’s both futuristic and quirky, with what might resemble a mustache on its front.

With so many mounts tied to resonance crystals and reputation grinding, it's essential to save up and prioritize your crystals. Weekly troves, world quests, and raid participation provide additional opportunities to expand your mount collection. Whether you’re after the bold robot designs or the sleek flying mounts, Patch 11.1 offers plenty of variety for collectors.

D.R.I.V.E: A New Mechanic

The D.R.I.V.E feature introduced in Patch 11.1 offers a new way to traverse the Undermine zone, and it’s bound to elicit strong opinions. On the surface, D.R.I.V.E is an innovative addition, providing speed and customization options, but it requires some adjustment to master.

The D.R.I.V.E vehicle offers a much faster alternative to ground mounts, making standard mounts feel sluggish by comparison. However, the speed can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially on systems struggling to handle the rapid movement or when navigating tight spaces. Crashes—both literal and figurative—are common, particularly on the PTR.

The drifting mechanic, activated with the spacebar, adds a fun layer to driving, but it lacks precision when encountering obstacles. While this feature enhances the overall experience, it might take some getting used to for players accustomed to traditional mounts.

Customization is a highlight of the D.R.I.V.E system. You can adjust the vehicle’s features to suit your preferences:

  • Color: Change the appearance of your vehicle with various options.
  • Acceleration and Speed: Choose between high acceleration with lower top speed, balanced settings, or high top speed with slower acceleration. Increased acceleration works best for navigating tight corners and rapid starts.
  • Drifting Grip: Adjust how your vehicle handles during drifts. Opt for smoother slides or sharp, handbrake-like turns for tighter control.
  • Boost Speed: Customize how quickly your boost meter recharges or opt for a stronger boost for long stretches of open road.
  • Horn: Equip a unique horn sound for your vehicle.

Around the map, players can find soda can-like items that recharge the boost meter. This mechanic ensures that you can maintain a high-speed experience when needed, especially for long roads or open spaces.

Players can control their D.R.I.V.E vehicles using either the WASD keys or a mouse-based system. While WASD is straightforward, mouse control offers finer precision, especially for racing enthusiasts. To drive with the mouse:

  1. Hold the right mouse button to steer.
  2. Press and hold both the right and left mouse buttons to move forward.
  3. Release the left mouse button to slow down, but continue steering with the right button.
  4. Tap the spacebar while turning to execute a drift.

Slowing down at corners or navigating obstacles is crucial to maintaining control. While mastering the mechanic takes practice, it becomes more intuitive with time.

Liberation of Undermine Raid

The Liberation of Undermine is an eight-boss raid located at the heart of Undermine City, near the Incontinent Hotel. While full details of the raid are still under wraps, key elements include:

The raid introduces a new Renown track with 20 levels of progression. This system takes approximately 20 weeks to complete, as players can generally gain only one level per week. While the grind is lengthy, the rewards are substantial:

  • T-Rex Mount: At the end of the Renown track, players unlock a unique T-Rex mount modeled after Fendo the Furious, the second raid boss.
  • Buffs for Raiding: At intervals such as levels 4, 7, 10, and 13, players gain a 3% boost to damage and healing output, similar to the buffs provided by Neubar Palace’s Refinery. These buffs enhance your power within the raid, making progression smoother.

To gain maximum weekly reputation, players are not required to kill every raid boss. Completing just a few bosses per week will suffice, providing flexibility for groups at different skill levels or progression stages.

New Delves in Patch 11.1

Patch 11.1 introduces two new standard delves and a third challenge delve, offering exciting and varied experiences for players. These delves provide fresh content and enticing rewards for both casual players and those seeking a solo challenge.

Side Street S.L.E.

The first new delve, Side Street S.L.E., is located in the heart of Undermine near the Incontinent Hotel. This delve stands out for its objective-focused gameplay, featuring unique mechanics such as controlling a robot and utilizing teleporters. Its mini-game-like elements make it a refreshing and engaging experience.

Excavation Site 9

The second delve, Excavation Site 9, can be found in the Gutterville area of the Ringing Deeps. This delve leans into a darker theme, with black-blooded aesthetics and an ominous atmosphere. It provides a stark contrast to Side Street S.L.E., delivering a more foreboding and sinister vibe.

Challenge Delve: The Demolition Dome

The third delve, The Demolition Dome, is a challenge delve similar to Zvir from Season 1. It is located at the northernmost point of the region and features increasingly difficult levels that culminate in a solo challenge on the hardest difficulty.

Completing this challenge rewards players with the Golden Delver's Gobtruter mount, a stunning helicopter-plane hybrid design that outshines its standard counterpart.

Changes to Delves and Solo Play Enhancements

To improve the solo experience, several changes have been made to delves in Patch 11.1:

  1. Brann Bronzebeard Updates:
Brann now has a tank specialization in addition to his DPS and healer roles. This versatility allows players to adapt Brann’s role to suit their needs, making higher-difficulty delves more accessible.
  2. Curios System:
New curios are available to customize Brann’s performance, letting players experiment with unique effects. This feature adds depth to the companion system, making Brann feel more interactive and engaging.
  3. Delver’s Gobtruter Mount:
The new delve mount, the Delver’s Gobtruter, features a sleek helicopter-plane design. The standard version can be earned through delve progression, while the golden variant requires completing the challenge delve at its highest difficulty.

Tier 11 delves bring new challenges and rewards, with a focus on Gilded Crests, which are used to upgrade Mythic gear. These crests provide an alternative path for players who do not engage in high-level Mythic+ dungeons or Mythic raiding.

Tier 11 delve enhancements in WoW Patch 11.1
  • Gilded Crests Limit:
Players can earn gilded crests from delves up to three times per week, with each delve awarding six crests. This caps the weekly total at 18 gilded crests.
  • Difficulty of Tier 11 Delves:
Tier 11 delves are challenging for most players, offering a satisfying alternative for gearing outside of traditional group content.

New Dungeon: Operation Floodgate

Patch 11.1 introduces Operation Floodgate, a new four-boss dungeon located in the Ringing Deeps. Easily accessible, this dungeon brings fresh and unique mechanics that make it both engaging and enjoyable. Players have noted its fun design, and it’s shaping up to be a highlight of the season.

This dungeon is part of the new lineup for Season 2, which includes an entirely different set of dungeons compared to Season 1. Here’s the full list:

  • Theater of Pain
  • The Rookery
  • The Motherlode
  • Priority of the Sacred Flame
  • Operation Mechagon: Workshop
  • Operation Floodgate
  • Dark Flame Clift
  • Cinder Brew Metery

Mythic+ Season 2 Rewards

Season 2 Mythic+ introduces two new mounts for players who achieve high Mythic ratings:

  1. Enterprising Shredder Tank: Unlocked by earning the Keystone Legend achievement. This sleek mount stands out with its distinct design.
  2. Crimson Shredder Tank: A recolor of the first mount, featuring more vibrant red tones and green highlights. This is awarded for achieving Keystone Master in Season 2.

Both mounts are coveted prizes for dedicated Mythic+ players aiming to showcase their accomplishments.

Improved Damage Visuals in Mythic+

One of the most notable changes to Mythic+ dungeons in Patch 11.1 is the overhaul of damage visuals. Previously, harmful effects often blended into the environment, making it difficult for players to identify dangerous zones.

This led to frustrating one-shots and unnecessary deaths, especially for melee players navigating chaotic combat.

With the new visuals, damage zones are brighter, more distinct, and impossible to miss. This improvement ensures players can easily spot hazards and react accordingly, significantly reducing avoidable damage. The clearer visuals are expected to help players learn positioning and movement more effectively, improving overall gameplay.

PvP Updates in Patch 11.1

While PvP isn’t seeing drastic changes this patch, there are a few noteworthy updates:

  1. New Gear Scaling:
    • Conquest gear will scale up to item level 678.
    • Honor gear will scale up to item level 665.
  2. New PvP Arena Map:
    • A Goblin-inspired arena located in Undermine, featuring a thematic design that adds variety to the current map pool. While it’s a welcome addition, it doesn’t introduce new gameplay elements.
  3. No Major PvP Changes:
    • There are no new battlegrounds, game modes, or significant system updates. The PvP experience remains largely the same, with minor gear improvements and the new map being the primary changes.

Best Specs to Play in 11.1

Patch 11.1 introduces exciting updates to several specs, making some long-forgotten or underplayed classes surprisingly fun and competitive. Whether you’re looking for engaging rotations, impactful tier sets, or just a change of pace, there’s a lot to explore in the new patch.

Windwalker Monk

Windwalker Monk has been polished to deliver smoother gameplay, and the synergy between cooldowns and abilities feels more cohesive than ever.

The new tier set enhances the explosive AoE loop, allowing you to open packs with Fists of Fury, amplify damage buffs, and finish with Strike of the Windlord. The combat flow is further boosted by recent buffs to Slicing Winds, turning it into a potential capstone talent that adds more depth to the rotation.

Marksmanship Hunter

For the first time in years, Marksmanship Hunter stands out as a top-tier spec with engaging mechanics. The rework transforms Precise Shots into an integral system that interacts with cooldowns, extends debuffs, and procs Spotter's Mark, creating dynamic gameplay.

Explosive Shot now allows for manual detonation with Aimed Shot, adding strategy and satisfaction to its usage. The interconnected abilities and synergies make Marksmanship a standout choice for both casual and hardcore players.

Holy Priest

Holy Priest receives impactful talent changes, such as improved Apotheosis uptime with Divinity, allowing for instant Heal and Prayer of Healing casts. These updates bring back the nostalgia of powerful, chunky healing.

Lightweaver now stacks up to four times and enhances AoE healing, addressing some of the spec’s prior weaknesses. The result is a blend of impactful spot healing and consistent group support, making Holy Priest a strong choice for healers in 11.1.

Outlaw Rogue

Outlaw Rogue's gameplay feels rewarding, thanks to talents like Sleight of Hand increasing five-buff Roll the Bones procs and Hidden Opportunity enhancing burst potential. The spec offers multiple viable builds, from Crackshot combos to Keep It Rolling.

While still in need of tuning to compete with other specs, Outlaw provides satisfying gameplay loops that emphasize big moments and adaptability.

Subtlety Rogue

Subtlety Rogue thrives on consistent uptime and predictable tier set bonuses, which reduce RNG and increase stability in rotations. Shadow Dance and Winning Streak ensure seamless gameplay, making Subtlety a strong option for melee enthusiasts. It pairs reliable damage output with elegant mechanics, making it a favorite for those seeking mastery in execution.

Guardian Druid

Guardian Druids are seeing improvements that make them feel tankier and more enjoyable to play. Changes like the new Searing Wounds talent provide magic damage reduction based on armor, creating synergy with Ironfur.

While not the next Prot Paladin, Bear tanks offer a reliable and forgiving experience, perfect for players looking for a change of pace from the meta.

Feral Druid

Feral Druid brings unique mobility and fluidity to melee combat, making it one of the most enjoyable specs to play in 11.1. The movement speed and root-breaking capabilities allow Feral to excel in high-mobility encounters.

The tier set enhances Apex Predator’s Craving, reinforcing its core mechanics. Though still underpowered compared to other specs, Feral remains fun and intuitive for players who enjoy its dynamic playstyle.

Demonology Warlock

Demonology Warlock’s tier set adds depth and impact, with Hand of Gul’dan proccing additional Dread Stalkers whose bites synergize with debuffs.

This update ensures the spec feels rewarding without fundamentally altering its gameplay. Demonology excels in consistent damage output and offers a unique playstyle that feels impactful in both raids and dungeons.

Destruction Warlock: Straightforward Power

Destruction Warlock shines with its straightforward gameplay, delivering explosive AoE and powerful single-target damage. The tier set provides a passive damage boost, freeing players to focus on maximizing their rotation.

The no-frills approach to Destruction makes it a satisfying option for players looking to burn enemies without overcomplicating things.

Enhancement Shaman

Enhancement Shaman remains one of the most versatile melee specs in the game. With multiple viable builds, significant visual updates, and high damage output, the spec feels modern and polished.

Talents like Totemic Surge reset cooldowns, adding dynamic elements to the rotation. Enhancement’s versatility and engaging mechanics set it apart as one of the most enjoyable specs in 11.1.
