Diablo II: Resurrected Season 12 is now underway, and with it comes a new tier list, specifically for the strongest builds in the game! This guide will feature eight amazing contenders, each with varying strengths depending on the content that you wish to tackle.

Strongest Builds in Diablo II: Resurrected Season 12

The word “strongest” can mean a lot of things. In the context of D2R, one build can be the strongest in destroying uber bosses, but the same build might be mediocre in Terror Zones. For this reason, I will highlight the content that a particular build is great for, so that you can decide for yourself if you want to play it or not.

With that said, here are the eight strongest builds in D2R Season 12:

8. Berserk Barbarian

Most of D2R’s endgame involves pumping up your MF value and farming certain types of content as many times as possible in order to get the best items. The Berserk Barbarian is definitely one of the strongest in Diablo II: Resurrected Season 12 because it’s literally built for that specific purpose—to have an insane MF value for higher quality drops.

This build is equipped with some of the most incredible MF gears available, including the “Shako” (Harlequin Crest), Nagelring, and Enigma, to name a few. However, what separates the Barbarian from the other D2R classes is that he has the Find Item skill, which lets him loot a corpse a second time in the hopes of getting some treasure.

To add to that, the Berserk Barbarian also has a variation called the “Horker Barb.” This build, in particular, focuses on making sure that Find Item gets supercharged to make it more effective at finding more valuable loot.

Armed with dual Grief Phaseblades, the Berserk Barbarian destroys the forces of evil with a skill (Berserk) that deals magic damage. For a class that is known for brute force, the inclusion of Berserk in the Barb’s kit is a welcome one.

Now, is the Berserk Barbarian ideal for hunting Uber Bosses? Well, you could use it for that, though there are certainly better ones out there if all you want is efficiency for that type of content.

7. Fire Druid

Does the thought of using fire to burn the minions of Hell excite you? If that is the case, the Fire Druid is probably the one that is right for you!

This is a spellcasting build that utilizes several fire spells, including Firestorm, Volcano, Armageddon, and Fissure. Buy the Ravenlore so that the enemy’s resistance to fire damage is reduced by up to 20%! The said unique helmet also contains other goodies, including +7 to Raven, +25 all-resists, and +3 to elemental skills.

While the Fire Druid was not particularly good back then because of the presence of fire-immune monsters in Hell Difficulty, that is no longer a problem in Diablo II: Resurrected. This build can handle all enemies due to Sunder Charms, specifically Flame Rift. Although having this sunder charm in your inventory decreases your fire resistance substantially, that can be mitigated by your fire resistance mods on your gear.

If you want to know where the Fire Druid excels, he’s great at killing multiple enemies at once. That is why he’s awesome in The Secret Cow Level and Tal Rasha’s Tombs, because these are areas that have high monster density.

A tanky spellcaster that unleashes fire from the depths of Hell, that is how I would describe the Fire Druid in Diablo II: Resurrected!

6. Fist of Heavens Paladin

The Fist of Heavens Paladin (sometimes referred to as FOHdin) is a well-rounded build that decimates the forces of evil by smiting them with heavenly damage. Okay, that last part was a bit of an exaggeration, but that is just how I and a lot of people view this D2R build in Season 12.

As you can tell by the name, this build uses the Fist of the Heavens—a skill that has two notable components. The first one is a lightning bolt, and the second is a collection of Holy Bolts that pierce through enemies.

Another important thing to note about the Holy Bolts produced by Fist of the Heavens is that they are not subject to magic resistance, which means that each projectile deals a ton of damage—both to demons and undead monsters alike.

The Fist of the Heavens now has a new variation, wherein you equip him with Heaven’s Light and Herald of Zakarum to deal insane damage with Smite. Yes, you’ve read that correctly! This version of the build addresses a longstanding issue with Fist of the Heavens, most notably its single-target damage.

With Smite, you don’t even have to address attack rating at all since the skill always hits enemies. So in short, you eliminate common monsters with Fist of the Heavens, and then destroy bosses with Smite.

As a result, the FOHdin is now an excellent boss killer who is capable of downing Baal and Diablo in Uber Tristram without a problem! That said, the Fist of Heavens Paladin is a versatile build that you won’t regret playing in D2R Season 12!

5. Nova Sorceress

This next build does have some variations to it, though I am only going to talk about the “pure” variant because that is what most people would go for this season. Anyway, the Nova Sorceress is a tanky build that deals quite a lot of damage, in large part, due to Nova’s synergy with Static Field.

One of the Nova Sorc’s strongest suits is that this is a beginner-friendly build. Why? You only really need to use two skills while hunting or bossing, and these are Static Field and Nova. The former is cast to considerably reduce the HP of nearby enemies, and the second is used to destroy what’s left of them.

The pure version of the Nova Sorceress only relies on lightning spells, which makes life hard when you are in Hell Difficulty, where lightning-immune monsters become rampant in Act 4 and Act 5. To address that, you will put the Crack of the Heavens sunder charm in your inventory to make lightning-immunes more susceptible to lightning damage.

You also want to have your Mercenary equipped with the Infinity Thresher for that passive Conviction Aura, which further reduces the elemental resistance of nearby monsters.

The Nova Sorceress also breaks the notion of D2R Sorcs being too squishy with the aid of Energy Shield and Telekinesis. Energy Shield is a magical barrier that eats up your mana when you take damage before your life. On the other hand, Telekinesis is a synergy skill, boosting the potency of Energy Shield as it protects you from harm.

If you are looking for a strong build for Uber Tristram runs in D2R, then the Nova Sorceress is definitely up there.

4. Smite Paladin

Are you looking for the strongest D2R build in Season 12, primarily for destroying uber bosses? Well, the Smite Paladin has that crown in the current meta. This build is often referred to as the “Uber Smiter Paladin” because of its ability to deal truckloads of damage per use of its main skill, Smite.

Smite is an interesting skill because it does not require you to have a considerable amount of dexterity or attack rating, unlike other melee abilities. It simply hits enemies so long as they are within close range.

Although Smite is not affected by Sanctuary Aura, it does deal Crushing Blow and Open Wounds, making it an awesome skill to use against Uber Mephisto and his allies. The downside here is that Smite, despite being a melee skill, does not work with life and mana steal. Fortunately, there’s a workaround, where you cast Life Tap from a low level on enemies, so you could restore your life just by smiting enemies with a well-placed blow to the head.

To maximize this build’s offensive potential, you must equip Guillaume’s Face and Dracul’s Grasp. The former boosts your ability to land a Crushing Blow by 35%, while the latter allows you to inflict Open Wounds on the unwilling victim. This powerful item combination is the reason why you can tackle uber bosses without fear!

The Smite Paladin can easily achieve a 75% chance to block attacks due to Holy Shield. That is why you only need a minimal investment in Dexterity, allowing you to put more points into Vitality to further increase your health pool.

Even though I wouldn’t recommend this build for farming Terror Zones in D2R, the Smite Paladin is one of, if not the strongest, builds in the game for farming ubers.

3. Lightning Fury Javazon

The last three builds that will be featured in this guide are quite strong for all types of content in Diablo II: Resurrected Season 12. Let’s go with the Lightning Fury Javazon, which has been a consistent frontrunner for more than several ladder seasons now due to her ability to execute enemies with lightning-infused spears.

The Lightning Fury Javazon requires three items to make it a powerful all-arounder. First on the list is Titan’s Revenge, which is a unique javelin that is known for increasing the level of Lightning Fury by four, as well as its ability to replenish javelin stacks so quickly. You can upgrade its base from the Ceremonial Javelin to the Matriarchal Javelin for more physical damage, thus increasing its potency to leech life from enemies.

The second is Griffon’s Eye. This is similar to the Ravenlore for Druids, albeit this one is more universal and has the power to reduce enemy lightning resistance by up to 20%. You can buy Griffon’s Eye in our D2R Store at a cheap price if you like!

For the third item, you have the Razortail. This unique belt enables you to easily achieve the 100% piercing attack. If you have this equipped, you only need to invest a few points in Pierce (passive ability) to accomplish the desired value.

When I said that the Lightning Fury “Javazon” is an all-arounder, I truly meant that. Do you want it to farm Terror Zones like The Secret Cow Level and The Pit? How about destroying ubers with great effect? Yes, the Lightning Fury Javazon can do that and then some in Season 12!

2. Blessed Hammer Paladin

If you want a strong build from start to finish in Diablo II: Resurrected Season 12, the Blessed Hammer Paladin will not disappoint! Also known as the “Hammerdin,” this build utilizes a skill that spawns magical hammers that spin around your character, killing the minions of Hell with every hit!

The thing that makes Blessed Hammer a potent threat against the forces of evil is that it deals magic damage instead of lightning or physical damage. Because there are only a handful of enemies that are immune to magic in D2R, Blessed Hammer is a top choice for killing monsters in the game.

Speaking of which, the Hammerdin is excellent in farming the council members in Travincal, as well as the minions in Chaos Sanctuary. With some slight tweaks to your equipment, you can even turn this build into a competent uber boss killer, too! Of course, this transition is not cheap because it requires you to invest in some pretty expensive items.

For one, you have the Enigma runeword. This D2R runeword unlocks the ability to teleport in and out of areas instantly, allowing you to look for elites and rare monsters in a flash. Enigma easily solves the problem with the Hammerdin, particularly its clunkiness when moving around.

Another noteworthy investment is the Heart of the Oak. This is an amazing weapon for the build due to its 40% FCR and +3 to skills—both of which empower the Blessed Hammer skill to kill the minions of Hell without any problems.

If there’s one criticism of the build, it would be that Blessed Hammer is easy to use yet difficult to master.

Overall, the Blessed Hammer Paladin has the distinction of being one of the strongest builds in Diablo II: Resurrected Season 12.

1. Mosaic Assassin

Are you looking for the undisputed strongest build in D2R Season 12? Then look no further than the Mosaic Assassin. She has been the champion of champions in the game for so many seasons ever since the Mosaic Runeword was introduced a couple of years ago. So, what makes this build special?

The build’s power comes from equipping two claws that have the Mosaic Runeword in them. This lets you use your finisher skill without consuming your built-up charges, so you can pretty much destroy anything in your path with enough setup.

Although you can technically use any finisher skill of your choosing, most people who play the Mosaic Assassin opt for the Dragon Talon as it’s the first one that is available in the skill tree under the “Martial Arts” umbrella.

On top of that, Dragon Talon’s damage can be amplified further by wearing the right pair of boots. Just equip an upgraded Gore Rider, and you can easily destroy uber bosses with just one kick!

Okay, so the finisher skill has been explained. What about the charge-up skills? There are a lot of variations to the Mosaic Assassin, but the most popular one utilizes Phoenix Strike for that triple elemental explosion of fire, ice, and lightning.

That said, I highly recommend that you have a relatively good system if you’re going to play the Mosaic Assassin on PC. This is because the explosion that occurs after using a charged-up Dragon Talon will slow down a modest system, so do keep that in mind.

Barring any technical constraints, there is no doubt that the Mosaic Assassin is the strongest build in Diablo II: Resurrected Season 12 by a mile!

The meta for Diablo II: Resurrected Season 12, for the most part, has become virtually the same, except for a couple of surprising additions. The Fire Druid and Berserk Barbarian have become strong contenders for most content in the game. You just need to have the right items to make them a lot more competitive than in previous seasons.

The FOHdin, Nova Sorc, and Lightning Fury Javazon are awesome all-arounders, with the Javazon beating the former two in terms of clearing potential relative to gear investment.

If you are looking for the best uber bossing builds, you have the Smite Paladin and the lone Assassin build on this list. Blessed Hammer is fine, though it works best in farming Terror Zones more than anything.

Of course, the Mosaic Assassin still holds the crown as the strongest build in D2R Season 12. This is mainly because there are no balancing adjustments made in this ladder season. Although there are rumors that the Mosaic Runeword will be nerfed, the changes are most likely going to be implemented in the next ladder season or two.
