If you’re thinking about creating a new character for the new ladder season, then I urge you to stay a while and listen! For today, I am going to give you the best builds in Diablo II: Resurrected – Reign of the Warlock.

D2R Season 13 Meta Overview – What Has Changed?

There is a bunch of new stuff that you can do in D2R Season 13. For one, you can now terrorize an entire Act using the new “Worldstone Shards.” For example, right-clicking on the Eastern Worldstone Shard will turn the different areas in Act 2 into Terror Zones, such as Canyon of the Magi, Tal Rasha’s Tombs, and the Rocky Waste, among others.

On top of that, you will now encounter the Heralds of Terror, which are unique monsters that hunt you down when you’re in a Terror Zone in Hell Difficulty. The Heralds of Terror drop statues that enable you to battle the new Colossal Ancients.

Speaking of which, the Colossal Ancients will test your mettle. These are vastly upgraded versions of the Ancients that you fight in Act 5. Eliminating them will occasionally reward you with powerful unique jewels, such as the Defender’s Bile, which grants a chance to cast a level 25 Bone Armor when you strike enemies.

Best Builds in D2R Season 13

Lightning Fury Amazon

The Lightning Fury Amazon (aka the “Javazon”) is still an awesome build in D2R Season 13. The main reason for this is that it boasts an incredible skill called the Lightning Fury that can make quick work of the enemy, especially in densely packed areas like The Secret Cow Level.

In addition, the Javazon has no problem dealing with single targets thanks to Charged Strike. This is ideal in your fight against the Colossal Ancients because hitting one of them at a time is crucial for an easy kill.

It does have one weakness, though, in that the build suffers from lightning-immune monsters. Fortunately, there is a quick fix in that you can simply put the Crack of the Heavens sunder charm in your inventory to deal with such enemies appropriately.

Hammerdin

The Blessed Hammer Paladin (or “Hammerdin” for short) has been a staple in Diablo II: Resurrected for so many years. This still holds true in D2R: Reign of the Warlock, so if you already love playing this build prior to the release of the expansion, you can start with this one in the new ladder season without any issues!

What makes the Hammerdin one of the best builds in D2R Season 13 is that its primary skill, Blessed Hammer, deals tremendous magic damage to enemies that it hits. Magic damage is the only damage type in the game that not a lot of monsters have innate immunities to fight against it, which makes Blessed Hammer an obvious choice, particularly in the endgame.

Thanks to the new Void Runeword, the Hammerdin can now easily obtain a 40% FCR, +2 to all skills, and 15% magic skill damage all in one package! Just make sure that you do not put Thul, Zod, and Ist runes into an ethereal 3-socket dagger so that you can replenish the runeword’s Decrepify stacks.

Overall, the Hammerdin just got better with the addition of the Void Runeword in the game. I definitely recommend that you try this build out soon!

Fire Warlock

Yes, the latest class added to Diablo II: Resurrected has some very strong builds in Season 13, the first of which is the Fire Warlock. This build utilizes two skills in the Warlock’s kit: Flame Wave and Apocalypse.

Apocalypse is cast first as it deals massive amounts of fire damage and has a short cooldown. During the downtime, spam Flame Wave to deal with the enemy accordingly.

The Warlock is unique because he can equip a two-handed weapon in the main hand, and a shield or a grimoire in the other. In case you don’t know, this class is the only one to do so in the game!

Having said that, the Obsession Runeword is key to the success of this build thanks to that +4 to all skills, 65% FCR, and +10 Energy. Then, you have Ars Al’Diabolos, which is a unique grimoire that grants an additional 25% FCR, +2 to chaos skills, and 30% fire skill damage. Seriously, this is a deadly combination that will obliterate any and all who oppose you!

Nova Sorceress

The Nova Sorceress is one of the best builds in D2R Season 13, primarily for its damage output and good survivability in the endgame. Nova is a fantastic skill that takes care of the enemies around you, while also preventing survivors from going near you due to them being forced into hit recovery when struck.

Optimal positioning is crucial for this build due to the nature of Static Field and Nova being “fixed” skills. Thankfully, the Sorceress can teleport when needed, so that shouldn’t be a problem.

In the late game, you should have an Infinity Mercenary for that Conviction Aura. The said aura reduces the lightning resistance of nearby enemies, making Nova a powerful skill that eliminates monsters in Hell with ease.

Echoing Strike Warlock

If you want to know the best build in D2R Season 13 by far, it is none other than the Echoing Strike Warlock. However, to gain that much power, you have to be willing to cast a lot of spells to take full advantage of the build.

When you enter a new map, summon a Goatman and then immediately consume it to gain some bonus damage. After that, cast Hex Purge so that enemies that you hit have a chance to explode, dealing magic damage in an area.

Echoing Strike is your primary skill. When you hover your cursor near your character and hit the hotkey for the said skill, it covers a larger area, allowing you to hit multiple targets at once.

Complement your setup with the Sigil: Lethargy spell, which reduces the physical damage reduction of affected enemies, thus massively boosting your DPS. So as you can see, the Echoing Strike Warlock is a “busy” build, but let me tell you that it surely is a fun one that you’ll never regret!
