Diablo 4 , Game Guides

The Horadric Cube returns in Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred, and it is now a huge part of your endgame experience. You can use it to repurpose some of your D4 Items, as well as upgrade your existing gear to make it better.
In this article, I will talk about everything you need to know about the Horadric Cube in D4, such as how to unlock it, the most useful recipes, and so much more!
How to Unlock the Horadric Cube in Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred?
If you haven’t played the latest expansion of D4 yet, you can get the Horadric Cube after completing “The Fools” quest in the main campaign of the Lord of Hatred. This is a quest that appears about three-quarters of the way in the expansion’s storyline, so you won’t be getting your hands on the cube until you’ve spent roughly six hours in the campaign.
Once you have unlocked it, the Horadric Cube can be found in Temis, somewhere at the center of the city.

How to Use the Horadric Cube in Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred
Once you have access to the Horadric Cube, head to Temis and interact with the cube. In the main interface, you will be presented with a bunch of Horadric Cube Recipes, each with its own set of required crafting materials.
The materials that are often needed by these Horadric Cube Recipes are:
- Primordial Dusts (at least one, others may require two).
- A specific item (may it be some piece of gear, rune, or lair boss keys).
- Tuning Prisms (Optional).
Primorial Dusts can be acquired from certain activities in the game, including Tree of Whisper Caches and the Cube Spoils from War Plans. For example, I’ve acquired a Volatile Primordial Dust from completing a War Plans playlist.

Primordial Dusts can also be acquired as rewards through your Seasonal Journey. That is why I highly recommend that you finish all your season objectives to get some awesome goodies!
The Undercity is also another location where you can farm materials for Horadric Cube Recipes. Simply use a Tribute of Ingenuity (Lesser/Greater) for entering the dungeon. And oh, set some Tuning Prisms as “Bargains” while you’re at it (may require copious amounts of D4 gold).

With that said, here is a list of the Primordial Dusts that you will need for the Horadric Cube Recipes:
| Name of Primordial Dust | Obtained From |
| Raw Primordial Dust | Tree of Whisper Caches War Plans |
| Coarse Primordial Dust | Tree of Whisper Caches War Plans |
| Infused Horadric Resin | Salvaging Charms and Seals (Talismans) |
| Refined Primordial Dust | Tree of Whisper Caches War Plans Elite Monsters |
| Attuned Primordial Dust | Tree of Whisper Caches War Plans Elite Monsters |
| Enhanced Primordial Dust | Tree of Whisper Caches War Plans Elite Monsters |
| Pure Primordial Dust | Tree of Whisper Caches War Plans Elite Monsters |

In addition, here is a rundown of the Tuning Prisms available in Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred:
| Name of Tuning Prism | Affix Category | Obtained From |

| Protector’s Tuning Prism | Defensive | War Plans (Rewards) Tree of Whisper Caches Elite Monsters |
| Resourceful Tuning Prism | Resource | War Plans (Rewards) Tree of Whisper Caches Elite Monsters |
| Pragmatic Tuning Prism | Mobility and Utility | War Plans (Rewards) Tree of Whisper Caches Elite Monsters |

Take note that you can also obtain Tuning Prisms from The Undercity, specifically when running the Tribute of Ingenuity. You can also increase your chances of acquiring a specific Tuning Prism by choosing the appropriate Bargain.

| Add Affix | 1x Common, Magic, Rare, or Legendary Item 1x Coarse Primordial Dust 5x Raw Primordial Dust 1x Tuning Prism (Optional) | Adds a random affix on gear. This recipe will only work if the item you’ve placed still has an affix slot open. For reference: Magic Items: 2 affixes Rare Items: 3-4 Legendary: 4 |
| Chaotic Reroll | 1x Magic, Rare, or Legendary Item 1x Refined Primordial Dust 15x Raw Primordial Dust | Rerolls a random affix to a different category. You can influence what that category is by using a specific Tuning Prism (like the Aggressive Tuning Prism for “Offensive” affixes). |
| Focused Reroll | 1x Magic, Rare, or Legendary Item 1x Refined Primordial Dust 15x Raw Primordial Dust 1x Tuning Prism | Changes a random affix to one of the same category (ex. Offensive -> Offensive). |

| Unique Power Reroll | 1x Ancestral Unique Item 1x Attuned Primordial Dust 100x Raw Primordial Dust | Randomizes the numerical value of the unique power on an Ancestral Unique Item. This is perfect if you want to min-max a build-defining unique item that you’re currently using. |
| 3-to-1 Transmutation | 3x Items of the Same Type | Transmutes three items of the same equipment, talisman, or rune into a random new item of that type (ex. 3 runes = 1 random rune). |
| Upgrade to Legendary | 1x Rare Item 1x Pure Primordial Dust 10x Raw Primordial Dust 1x Tuning Prism (Optional) | Transforms a rare item into a Legendary Item with a random legendary power. | Amalgamation | 5x Consumable, Socketable, Dungeon Key, or Rare Boss Trophy | Commonly used to get unique items from specific Lair Bosses by sacrificing several Rare Boss Trophies. However, this recipe can be utilized to upgrade items based on the type of item you’ve placed. (ex. 5x Nightmare Dungeon Sigils-> 1 Random NMD Sigil). |

Best Horadric Cube Recipes
Here is a list of some popular Horadric Cube Recipes that you should prioritize in Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred:
- Transfigure Item: Do you miss the Sanctification Gear System in S11? If so, “Transfigure Item” is basically a toned-down version of that. This adds a random powerful affix on your gear, which can be further enhanced by using either the Entropic or Kullean Tuning Prism.
- Upgrade to Unique: If you are not powerful enough to defeat Lair Bosses in D4 just yet, “Upgrade to Unique” is a useful Horadric Cube Recipe for you. Make sure to keep the types of Common-rarity items that you want to upgrade into uniques later on while finishing the campaign.
- Reroll Set Charm: This is incredible for rerolling charms of the same set. If you only needed one or two more charms to complete the set, then this Horadric Cube Recipe can help you do just that.
- Amalgamation: This Horadric Cube Recipe is great in helping you gear your character after completing the campaign. Sacrifice five of the same Rare Boss Trophies to acquire a random unique item from that specific Lair Boss. For instance, you could get The Blade of Sight Aflame (a Urivar-specific unique item) for your Warlock by transmuting five Judicator’s Masks.
