What is Diablo 4 Patch 2.6.0 PTR?
For those who are new here, the PTR is essentially the testing ground for new features that will be implemented in the upcoming season for Diablo 4.
Right now, Patch 2.6.0 is live on the Public Test Realm for you to try out! The testing period will be up now until February 10 at 10 AM PST.
To access the PTR, open the Battle.Net launcher and click on the drop–down menu just above the “Play” button. After that, select “Public Test Realm” just below the words “In Development.”
By doing so, you will be prompted to download a special version of the game. Keep in mind that the update can vary anywhere between 90 and 100GB, depending on the actual size of the patch.
Class Balance Changes in Patch 2.6.0 PTR
The Paladin was surprisingly introduced as part of Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred expansion. You can play this class as early as now if you have pre-ordered the said expansion, which I highly recommend that you do because it’s insanely powerful!
Having said that, the Paladin only got one indirect nerf (in the form of a bug fix). More specifically, the second cast of Zenith (one of the Pally’s ultimate skills) no longer counts toward the Zan Rune’s offering generation. This means that the Zenith Paladin is now clunkier to play because the skill’s cooldown won’t reset more consistently without the “bugged” interaction.
The good news is that the Zenith nerf is the only notable downside to the Paladin class in Patch 2.6.0. Surprisingly, the Auradin still remains a pretty strong choice, with the Dawnfire gloves’ increased buff duration and higher chance of dealing double damage with Holy Light Aura.
Aside from the Paladin, the Spiritborn received some notable buffs. The bonus damage provided by the In-Fighter legendary paragon node has been increased from 30% to 45%. It’s a slight damage improvement yet it’s still welcome.
In addition, the Bitter Medicine legendary node has its poisoning damage bonus increased from 60% to 80%. This is one of the least-used legendary paragon nodes in the Spiritborn’s kit, and I don’t think this changes anything in Season 12 (though poison Spiritborn builds might be a bit more prevalent now due to the change).
Lastly, the Drive legendary paragon node has its duration cut by half (so only 5 seconds now), but it stacks up to 20 now, which means that you get 120% bonus damage! Although it doesn’t last as long as it did in the previous season, the adjustment in Drive’s duration is still good, especially considering that the main mechanic for Season 12 benefits builds that move quickly.
System and Gameplay Adjustments in Patch 2.6.0 PTR
Killstreak System
Patch 2.6.0 for Diablo 4 sets the stage for what is coming in Season 12. The main seasonal mechanic is the Killstreak System, where you get massive bonuses if you kill so many enemies in quick succession. This incentivizes you to use the best builds in Diablo 4 to ensure that you get the most out of this mechanic.

There are five tiers that you have to be aware of when it comes to this new Killstreak System. These are:
- Killstreak
- Carnage
- Devastation
- Bloodbath
- Massacre
You only have a very short window between enemy kills to keep the killstreak going. That is why it’s best that you choose a build that has high mobility, such as the Evade Spiritborn or Crackling Energy Sorcerer.
So, what do you get for keeping the streak alive? Well, you will get tons of experience and seasonal reputation based on the tier before the timer expires. With this in mind, D4 Powerleveling is actually much easier in Patch 2.6.0 thanks to this new mechanic alone.
Bloodied Items

During the course of your farming sessions in Diablo 4 Season 12, you will come across some “Bloodied Items.” These are items that come with special affixes, which get activated when certain conditions are met.
For instance, the “Rampage” affix may provide you with a 6% resource cost reduction per killstreak tier. So, if you are currently on the “Massacre” tier, you’ll receive a total of 30% resource cost reduction! This is quite helpful for Barbarian Builds that require a lot of resources to pull off, such as the Whirlwind Barb and the HoTA Barb.
Here’s what you need to know about Bloodied Items in Diablo 4 Season 12:
- Items that are dropped from chests and monsters may appear with a bloodied affix.
- D4 items can both be of Ancestral quality and have a bloodied affix.
- Bloodied affixes have a few fixed categories, though the effects they provide are random.
- Similar to other affixes found in items, bloodied affixes can also have their effects stack.
Now, there are three categories of Bloodied Affixes. They are:
- Rampage
- Applies to Armor
- Affix’s potency increases based on your current killstreak tier
- May include bonuses to movement speed and resource cost reduction
- Feast
- Applies to Weapons
- Provides bonuses based on the total kills in your current killstreak
- Note: Bonuses provided by “Feast” are constant and are not tied to your killstreak tier
- Hunger
- Applies to Jewelry (rings and amulet)
- Increases your chance of getting certain items, such as runes, lair keys, etc.
- The higher your killstreak tier, the higher your chance of getting the item stipulated on the Bloodied Item
New Unique Items
Diablo 4 Patch 2.6.0 PTR has five new unique items in store for you! Here is a table that lists the most important information about them:
| Name | Stats | Usable By | Notes |
| Blood-Mad Idol (Amulet) | +51-65 All Stats +8.3-10% Attack Speed +7-8% Critical Strike Chance 17.5-31.5% Damage Reduction while injured Power: You are always Berserkering but take 200% increased burning damage over 8 seconds. While burning, Berserking grants an additional 75-125% increased damage | All classes | +A pretty good amulet for improving offense, though you should use a build with enough damage mitigation to curb its downsides |
| Wyrdskin (Gloves) | +424-457 Life +1-2 Core Skills +7-8% Critical Strike Chance +8.3-10% Attack Speed Power: Applies Vulnerable to distant enemies and Weakened to close enemies. Enemies that are affected by both Weakened and Vulnerable receive 10-30% increased damage | All classes | +Pretty underwhelming when you consider the fact that you have to apply both status effects on enemies to get the full effect |
| Wendigo Brand (Ring) | +424-457 Life +855-1086 Life Regen +146-159 Life on Hit +441-490 Physical Resistance Power: Every 15 kills in the last 30-60 seconds increases your damage dealt by 2%, and maximum Health by 1% | All classes | +Good for speedfarming, though not ideal for pit-pushing, unless your build is capable of demolishing tons of enemies quickly |
| Rustbitten Dirk (Dagger) | +51-65 All Stats +424-457 Life +8.3-10% Attack Speed +40-50% Vulnerable Damage Power: Deal 50-100% increased damage to isolated enemies | Sorcerer, Necromancer, Rogue, Druid | +Too conditional to provide anything of value, since you need enemies to be isolated to receive the damage buff |
| Thousand-Eye Reaver (1-handed Axe) | +424-457 Life +7-8% Critical Strike Chance +36.5-50% Movement Speed on Elite Kill Lucky Hit: Up to a 40% chance to deal 900-2,400 Physical Damage Power: Moving grants Ferocity. Maximum Ferocity increased by 1-3. Ferocity also increases movement speed by 4-8% per stack | Druid, Necromancer, Barbarian, Paladin | +Good for early-game speedfarming, though not much else |
