There are several unique items introduced in Diablo 4 Season 12. They are relatively easy to obtain, provided that you are equipped with the best D4 items to make the challenging content a lot more bearable.

If you are looking for useful information about the new unique items that you can farm in the Season of Slaughter, then you have come to the right place! For today, I will not only talk about those new uniques, but also provide you with some useful tips to help you acquire them in the most efficient ways possible!

New Unique Items in Diablo 4 Season 12

So, what are the new unique items in Diablo 4: Season of Slaughter? Well, there are five of them—all of which can be obtained by defeating The Butcher in his lair (aptly called The Broiler). These uniques are:

Blood-Mad Idol

Blood-Mad Idol

Stats:

  • +42-52 All Stats
  • +8.3-10% Attack Speed
  • +6-7% Critical Strike Chance
  • +13-23% Damage Reduction While Injured
  • Unique Power: You are always Berserking but take 200% increased damage as Burning over 8 seconds. While Burning, Berserking grants an additional [75-125]% increased damage.

The Blood-Mad Idol is probably the most useful among the new unique items in Diablo 4 Season 12. The reason is that you are always in “Berserking” status when it is equipped, which provides you with 25% increased damage and 30% increased movement speed. Although it has a downside of making you take more damage from the enemy (which is doled out as “Burning Damage”), this unique amulet makes up for that by granting up to 23% damage reduction when your life drops below 35%.

Wendigo Brand

Wendigo Brand

Stats:

  • +244-272 Maximum Life
  • +489-579 Life per 5 Seconds
  • +84-92 Life on Hit
  • +321-350 Physical Resistance
  • Unique Power: Every 15 kills in the last [30-60] seconds, increase your damage by 2%, and maximum life by 1%

If you don’t like any harmful side effects from equipping a unique item in Diablo 4, then this next one is probably more to your liking.

The Wendigo Brand is a unique ring that grants a scaling life and damage boost for every 15 enemies you have killed in the past 30 to 60 seconds. The increase in maximum life it provides is additive, while the boost in damage is multiplicative, making this ring a powerful addition to your D4 build.

Playing one of the best speedfarming builds in Diablo 4: Season of Slaughter, such as the Evade Spiritborn, is great if you pair it with the Wendigo Brand.

Thousand-Eye Reaver

Thousand-Eye Reaver

Stats:

  • +244-272 Maximum Life
  • +6-7% Critical Strike Chance
  • +31-45% Movement Speed
  • +Lucky Hit: Up to a 40% Chance to Deal +[600-1,000] Physical Damage
  • Unique Power: Moving grants Ferocity, and Maximum Ferocity is increased by [1-3]. Ferocity also increases movement speed by +[4-8]% per stack

To understand why the new Thousand-Eye Reaver has the potential to be a good unique item in Diablo 4 Season 12, you must first know what Ferocity is.

For the uninitiated, Ferocity is a stacking buff in D4 that grants 5% increased attack speed per stack. By default, you can gain up to 4 stacks of Ferocity, but this changes when you equip the Thousand-Eye Reaver, where you can get up to three more stacks.

That said, the Thousand-Eye Reaver is best used when you are constantly moving. This goes in line with the seasonal mechanic, where you gain and accumulate higher kill streak tiers for better bonuses.

Rustbitten Dirk

Rustbitten Dirk

Stats:

  • +51-65 All Stats
  • +424-457 Maximum Life
  • +8.3-10.0% Attack Speed
  • +40-50% Vulnerable Damage
  • Unique Power: Deal [50-100]% Increased Damage to Isolated Enemies

While the theme of Diablo 4 Season 12 is for you to slay groups of enemies as quickly as possible to maintain high kill streaks, the Rustbitten Dirk takes on a different approach. This unique dagger pretty much boosts your damage against single targets, particularly those that are isolated from the pack.

As you can probably tell, the Rustbitten Dirk is made for boss encounters. If you are thinking of farming bloodied lair bosses in Season of Slaughter, then you might want to consider using the Rustbitten Dirk as your primary weapon.

You also have a chance to get a Rustbitten Dirk with a cool-looking cosmetic inspired by DOOM: The Dark Ages by opening the reward chest at the end of The Butcher fight.

Wyrdskin

Wyrdskin

Stats:

  • +244-272 Maximum Life
  • +8.8% Attack Speed
  • +6-7% Critical Strike Chance
  • +1-2 Core Skills
  • Attacks apply Vulnerable to Distant Enemies, and Weakened to Close Enemies. You deal [10-30]% increased damage to enemies that are both Vulnerable and Weakened

The Wyrdskin is an interesting pair of gloves for the Rogue in Diablo 4 Season 12. This is because it applies Vulnerable to close enemies and Weakened to distant foes. When both these effects are present, this unique item will grant more power, thus enabling you to deal more damage to those who are affected by the said conditions.

The reason why the Wyrdskin is best for the Rogue Class, despite being usable on the Necromancer, Druid, and Sorcerer, is that this weapon works on a variety of Rogue builds in Season 12, such as the Flurry Rogue, Dance of Knives Rogue, and the Heartseeker Rogue.

Best Tips for Farming Unique Items in D4 Season 12

With the new unique items already explained, let’s now explore the best ways you can farm them in Diablo 4: Season of Slaughter. Here are some useful tips:

Open Greater Bloodied Caches

Greater Bloodied Caches are repeatable rewards that you can get after obtaining the 24 initial reward caches from the Brutality Board (located in Gea Kul). The reason why you’d want to open these bloodied caches is that they often contain a random bloodied lair boss key.

On top of that, Greater Bloodied Caches can drop Pound of Flesh, which is the currency that you use to open the reward caches after eliminating The Butcher in his lair.

Greater Bloodied Caches

Now, why is this knowledge important? This is crucial for unique item farming in D4 Season 12 because the new uniques can drop either in the normal version of The Broiler or the “bloodied” version of the said boss lair.

So, if you don’t want another Butcher to pester you while you are fighting the OG, then you can simply eliminate him in the normal version of the boss lair instead of the bloodied one.

In case you get lost somehow, The Broiler is located slightly on the right side of Gea Kul (on the map).

Choose the Right D4 Build

It goes without saying that you should use a build in Diablo 4 that is specifically meant for slaying bosses if you want to farm the new unique items efficiently. Here are the ones that I recommend:

  • Shield of Retribution Paladin: Strong damage output with some defense on the side, the Shield of Retribution Paladin is capable of destroying The Butcher’s tough exterior with ease.
  • Crackling Energy Sorcerer: Although billed as a speedfarming build, the Crackling Energy Sorcerer can be tweaked to eliminate The Butcher as quickly as possible. Make sure to put Lightning Spear and Charged Bolts as your enchantments when playing this particular build.
  • Hammer of the Ancients Barbarian: The HoTA Barb might not wow you with its dungeon clear speed, but it certainly impresses in fighting enemies one-on-one. Choose a version of this build that has Frenzy, Mighty Throw, and War Cry on the action bar for best results.
  • Crushing Hand Spiritborn: If you want a build that only requires two items to obliterate The Butcher, then the Crushing Hand Spiritborn is a great contender. This build utilizes a skill that deals considerable damage in an area, which leaves The Butcher with no place to hide. And, if you have the Rod of Kepeleke and Harmony of Ebewaka, you can even face the bloodied variant of the Butcher without problems.
  • Pulverize Druid: The Pulverize Druid also deals huge AoE damage. The difference between this build and the Crushing Hand Spiritborn, though, is that it can apply poison to The Butcher for a one-two combo in terms of inflicting damage.

Wear the Crown of Lucion or Heir of Perdition

Both the Crown of Lucion and Heir of Perdition can be worn by any class in Diablo 4. The former grants a stacking damage buff whenever you use a skill that has a resource cost, while the latter grants a 60% damage increase upfront with “+ to Core Skills” and increased critical strike chance on top of that.

If your build does not require a specific helmet to function, then be sure to wear the Crown of Lucion or Heir of Perdition, whichever you have on hand.
