Are you tired of the randomness of mods when crafting items in Path of Exile 2? Crafting in this game is still not fully fleshed out compared to its PoE 1 counterpart. However, we’re talking about over 12 years of refinement, so it’s not fair to say this.

Still, it would be great if you could just use an item and be done with it, right? Fortunately, there is a class of items in this game called uniques.

In this article, we are going to list some of the best unique items in PoE 2 that you should know about. Let’s get started!

What Are Unique Items in PoE 2?

Unlike Magic and Rare Items in Path of Exile 2, uniques are items that have pre-defined modifiers and stats. These cannot be altered by the same PoE 2 currencies used for crafting, such as the Orb of Transmutation, Augmentation, Regal Orb, and Exalted Orb. However, their numerical values can be changed by using Divine Orbs in Path of Exile 2.

What makes certain unique items very valuable is that some builds won’t work without them. For instance, the Explosive Shot Deadeye cannot function as it should without the use of The Three Dragons unique helmet.

Now, we have noticed that some unique items in the game don’t necessarily come with downsides, unlike those found in Path of Exile 1. However, as a way of balancing things, Grinding Gear Games has probably decided to not populate all affix slots on uniques.

For context, rare items in the game can have a total of six affixes and it should have been the case for uniques as well. Nevertheless, they are called “unique” for a reason, so we just have to be content with what mods are found on those items.

It is also worth mentioning that certain unique items can roll with additional skills on their implicit modifiers. These skills can be enhanced by support gems in the “Skills” UI. The Lifesprig is a good example of this as it can have a level 1 to level 20 Mana Drain depending on when it dropped for you.

Where to Get Unique Items?

The vast majority of unique items in the game can drop randomly by killing monsters. You have a much bigger chance of obtaining one, though, when you eliminate map bosses.

Once you get strong enough, you can start taking on the pinnacle bosses like Xesht and Zarokh and acquire some highly-coveted uniques—some of which will be discussed later in this PoE 2 unique items guide.

Another way to obtain unique items in Path of Exile 2 is by using the Orb of Chance on an item with Normal Rarity (specifically, those with white text and border). This method places heavy emphasis on RNG, which means that you may get something useful in return or have the item destroyed in the process.

Orb of Chance Example

When you have enough Gold, you can interact with certain NPCs in town and gamble for some items. The ones that you can obtain by gambling range anywhere from a Magic Item to a Unique Item. Although there is a very slim chance that you can acquire a unique item this way, you might be surprised by what you’re going to get!

Best Unique Items in PoE 2

Uniques are powerful, build-defining items in Path of Exile 2 that can take your character to the next level. That said, if you are looking for the cream of the crop, then read further. This section of our guide is dedicated to talking about only the best unique items in PoE 2 Early Access.

Ingenuity

Ingenuity Belt

At first glance, you might think that the first unique item on this list is bland and boring. Well, we’re here to tell you that it certainly is not! Ingenuity is such an incredible unique belt that it’s one of the most expensive you can find on PoE 2 trade!

The way you utilize Ingenuity is to equip some equally awesome rings. For instance, you can have rings that have triple elemental resistance mods on each finger, and Ingenuity can boost that up to 80%! In this scenario, the said belt alleviates the need to roll elemental resistance on your other pieces of gear, allowing you to focus on other stats, attributes, and whatnot.

Ingenuity can drop from The King in the Mists. And no, you can’t have this drop from the version you fight in the campaign. Instead, you need an Audience with the King to teleport you to the Crux of Nothingness, where he awaits.

Ventor’s Gamble

Ventor’s Gamble Ring

The Ventor’s Gamble is quite similar to its PoE 1 counterpart in that it has almost the same stats, except for the 0-20 Spirit roll.

This unique ring is one of the most sought-after, primarily because it can roll up to 65% increased rarity of items. Now, imagine if you have Ingenuity equipped, the said modifier will be greatly enhanced!

Ventor’s Gamble can drop from anywhere, though keep in mind that the numeric values of its mods can reach as low as -40%. If the Ventor’s Gamble you own has all positive modifiers, then you are part of the minority because that outcome is incredibly rare!

Mahuxotl’s Machination

Mahuxotl’s Machination shield

When you defeat The Trialmaster in the Trial of Chaos, he may drop the powerful Mahuxotl’s Machination. The name of this unique item might be hard to pronounce but there’s nothing complicated about its modifiers. Specifically, runes and soul cores that you’ve socketed get up to a 666% increased effect!

So, how is that amazing, you ask? Well, if your Mahuxotl’s Machination has about 660% increased effect, putting the Soul Core of Azcapa on its sockets will provide you with a 76% increased item rarity for each one!

Before you drool over this unique item, just know that The Trialmaster is no slouch. He can defeat you when you’re unprepared, so you have to go in with your best PoE 2 build. Otherwise, he will kill you without breaking a sweat!

Headhunter

Headhunter belt

The Headhunter has retained most of its features from PoE 1. However, it should be said that the modifiers that you gain from killing rare monsters in Path of Exile 2 only last for 20 seconds (instead of 60 seconds from the original game).

To maximize the Headhunter, you have to play a Path of Exile 2 build that can eliminate rare monsters quickly. Some examples include the Lightning Arrow Deadeye, Ice Strike Invoker, and the Explosive Shot Mercenary.

Astramentis

Astramentis amulet

Attribute-stacking builds are still present in Path of Exile 2, and one unique item is popular right now because it gives a ton of bonus attributes in one particular item slot in your inventory.

The Astramentis only comes with three total modifiers. However, that is more than enough to satisfy any attribute stacker. You get as many as 107 attributes on a perfect roll, which is why this is being sold for more than 160 PoE 2 Divine Orbs in the trade market.

Having said that, if you have some Chance Orbs on hand, you might want to use them on a normal Stellar Amulet and hope that it comes out as an Astramentis.

Hand of Wisdom and Action

Hand of Wisdom and Action gloves

If you find the concept of stacking attributes as high as possible absurd, then wait until you see what the Hand of Wisdom and Action can do.

Equipping these gloves grant increased attack speed and lightning damage depending on your dexterity and intelligence, respectively. That’s why a lot of Monk Builds in Path of Exile 2 use this unique pair of gloves in the endgame!

Because of the potential power it holds, the Hand of Wisdom and Action cannot drop anywhere except from Xesht, We Who Are One. The said pinnacle boss can only be fought when you’ve collected 300 Breach Splinters, which automatically converts to a complete Breachstone.

Use this Breachstone in The Realmgate (close to the Ziggurat Refuge in the Atlas) to gain access to the Twisted Domain, where Xesht is there waiting for you at the end.

Pillar of the Caged God

Pillar of the Caged God staff

One look at the Pillar of the Caged God and it can easily be mistaken as a leveling unique in Path of Exile 2. However, its true potential is only unlocked once you stack all base attributes, such as STR, DEX, and INT as high as you can!

Players who have chosen the Gemling Legionnaire as their ascendancy class have found a way to utilize the Pillar of the Caged God to a much greater extent. Aside from the fact that the Mercenary is a hybrid class in PoE 2 that naturally has a balanced distribution of STR and DEX, the Gemling Legionnaire’s “Enhanced Effectiveness” ascendancy node doubles the bonuses provided by said attributes.

That translates to more HP from STR and more accuracy from DEX, making any melee Gemling Legionnaire a close-combat specialist who can handle anything with the help of the Pillar of the Caged God!

Polcirkeln

Polcirkeln sapphire ring

Polcirkeln is one of the most powerful unique items in Path of Exile 2. It’s so powerful, in fact, that a lot of cold damage-based Monk Builds are using it even in the endgame! That is incredible given that you can wear this ring as early as level 12!

Doedre’s Damning

Doedre’s Damning ring

Are you playing a Titan build that’s primarily using Stampede and Hammer of the Gods? If so, you might find Doedre’s Damning useful in making your enemies more susceptible to the damage of your main skills.

For those who don’t know, Path of Exile 2 has a one-curse limit just like in the original game. You have to use certain things in order to go beyond that, and Doedre’s Damning is one such example.

If you’re playing a Titan, you can use Temporal Chains to significantly reduce the movement speed of monsters, making them unable to escape your grasp. Then, execute a Stampede with the enemies bunched up together and see your clearing speed efficiency go up as a result.

Thief’s Torment

Thief’s Torment ring

When you have the Thief’s Torment equipped, you cannot put a ring on the other finger. This might look like a huge disadvantage but you have to see the unique ring for what it provides.

For starters, it can roll a 40% increased item rarity. If you don’t know, item rarity is quite powerful in the current state of Path of Exile 2 because it can alter how many valuable items can drop just by going on with your usual business in this game.

In addition, you gain 25 life and 15 mana for each enemy that is hit with your attacks. Mana-intensive builds like the Ice Strike Invoker and the Gas Arrow Acolyte of Chayula can greatly benefit from wearing this one ring.

Although the Thief’s Torment can be “chanced”, using the Orb of Chance to acquire one may yield unfavorable results. Fortunately, you can buy one off of our PoE 2 Store at a discounted price!

Call of the Brotherhood

Call of the Brotherhood ring

Spark and Archmage are an incredibly powerful duo in Path of Exile 2 right now. You can focus on enhancing lightning damage and zap enemies to death by conjuring copious amounts of Spark projectiles.

That said, using Call of the Brotherhood in one of your ring slots effectively changes everything in a lightning damage-based build. You see, this unique ring converts all lightning damage to cold damage when worn.

If you are going to use this, make sure that all your support gems, notable passive skills, and curses all have something to do with cold damage because damage conversion works differently in PoE 2. To put it simply, only modifiers that improve the end result of the conversion can benefit from increased damage mods.

In this case, since Call of the Brotherhood converts all of your lightning damage to cold damage, amplifying your damage even further requires you to have increased cold damage mods rather than lightning damage.

Another reason why Call of the Brotherhood is interesting is that you can use it with the Glaciation support gem to make your Spark projectiles freeze enemies easily. Of course, this is not limited to Spark only, though we feel it’s the best representation given how popular the said lightning skill is in the current meta.

Ryslatha’s Coil

Ryslatha’s Coil belt

You might be confused as to what this next item does exactly, especially when looking at its unique modifiers. The Ryslatha’s Coil is best known for giving more oomph to the physical damage of your attacks.

Essentially, what it does is it stretches the physical damage range of your attacks. For example, if you are dealing 10-40 physical damage on the enemy, that particular range changes to 6-56 physical damage when you have the Ryslatha’s Coil equipped.

Take note that its unique modifier does not boost any damage type that is converted to physical damage. Instead, it enhances physical damage first and then gets factored in when converted to another type of damage (like fire or lightning).

Now, the Ryslatha’s Coil is an uncommon drop, which makes it more accessible than, say, a Polcirkeln. That said, you could take your chances and use a Vaal Orb on it because doing so might increase the “maximum damage” mod from 40% to 49%!

Death Rush

Death Rush emerald ring

The modifiers in Death Rush might not wow you but its unique effect certainly will! Onslaught is such an amazing buff, which gives you a 20% boost in skill speed and a 10% increase in movement speed when active.

If you’re wondering what the hell “skill speed” even means, it’s basically a modifier in Path of Exile 2 that influences how quickly you execute your skills. Imagine a Warbringer who can summon several totems in a jiffy instead of waiting six seconds for the same outcome.

Morior Invictus

Morior Invictus unique body armor

To understand how amazing this next Path of Exile 2 unique item is, just know that a typical body armor can only have two rune sockets on it (three if you’re lucky with the Vaal Orb corruption). The Morior Invictus? Well, it has four!

Aside from the fact that it has four rune sockets right off the bat, the Morior Invictus grants a couple of additional modifiers depending on the version you have with you. In the image above, you can see that the said unique body armor grants 10% IIR and 10 points of Spirit per rune or soul core inserted into it.

If you don’t mind going all out, you can use a Vaal Orb on it and pray to RNGesus so that he may grant your wish and add one more socket to the Morior Invictus!

Before you get excited, the Morior Invictus is a unique item that you might not obtain until you are deep enough in your Atlas progression. That’s because you need to farm a few fragments from the “Citadel” maps before you can face the pinnacle boss, The Arbiter of Ash.

Svalinn

Svalinn unique shield

Path of Exile 2 still has a problem with non-telegraphed attacks that can kill you in one hit! Fortunately, you can invest in block chance to ensure that you have the means of preventing that from happening.

The Svalinn makes your chance to block attacks “lucky” when you equip it. In PoE 2, that means that your odds are “rolled” twice and the more favorable outcome of the two will be used in the equation.

This unique item has a downside that reduces your maximum block chance by up to 20%. However, this is negated by the Warbringer’s “Renly’s Training” ascendancy node, which ensures that the base block chance of your equipped shield is set to 40% instead of using the shield’s value.

From Nothing

From Nothing unique jewel

There is another good reason why killing the King in the Mists in your spare time is a good idea. Occasionally, he will drop a unique item called “From Nothing.”

From Nothing is a unique jewel in Path of Exile 2 that is quite similar to the Impossible Escape jewel from PoE 1. This thing allows you to allocate any passive skill in the radius of a particular keystone indicated on the jewel itself.

In the example above, you can take nodes that are within the radius of the Resonance keystone, which include True Strike (for increased critical hit chance and DEX) or Event Horizon (for increased chaos damage).

Controlled Metamorphosis

Controlled Metamorphosis unique jewel

If you have played PoE 1 and you miss the Thread of Hope so much, then you’ll be happy to know that there is a similar item in Path of Exile 2 as well. It’s got a new name now called Controlled Metamorphosis!

Controlled Metamorphosis only drops from Xesht, specifically at Difficulty 4. What this means is that you have to fight the said pinnacle boss with several Atlas Passive Nodes that raise the difficulty of the Twisted Domain allocated.

Prism of Belief

Prism of Belief unique jewel

When you fight The Arbiter of Ash in the highest difficulty level, he will sometimes drop the Prism of Belief unique jewel. This item raises the level of a specific skill by up to three. Spells can take huge advantage of the Prism of Belief because they get significant damage increases per level up.

If you are going to buy the Prism of Belief from the trade website, make sure to use the appropriate stat filter to narrow down your options, allowing you to easily see the specific one that works for your build.

Olroth’s Resolve

Olroth’s Resolve unique flask

Because Utility Flasks from the original game are no longer present in the sequel, GGG has to find a way to add Olroth’s Resolve somehow into the game’s roster of unique items. Fortunately, the company used the Ultimate Life Flask as a base item, which makes it even more useful for a lot of PoE 2 builds.

Basically, what Olroth’s Resolve does is it grants a new defensive buff called “Guard” whenever the flask recovers more than your maximum HP. Guard is pretty much the same as “Ward” from the previous game, wherein it absorbs damage before your life or energy shield takes a hit.

Since the said unique flask now uses the Ultimate Life Flask as the base item, it has become even more useful than ever before. As a result, Olroth’s Resolve is being sold at an exorbitant price of 35 Divine Orbs or more (at the time of writing).

Against the Darkness

Against the Darkness unique jewel

Against the Darkness is a unique time-lost jewel in Path of Exile 2 that adds a couple of random modifiers on minor nodes within its radius. Minor nodes are the small nodes that are found abundantly on the passive tree, in case you’re wondering.

Anyway, the mods that you can get from Against the Darkness include increases to elemental resistance, attributes, extra damage, and maximum elemental resistance. The duration of some elemental ailments, including Shock, Freeze, and Ignite can also be reduced, provided that your particular Against the Darkness jewel has it.

This thing is not easy to acquire because you have to complete one of the toughest endgame systems known to mankind, the Trial of the Sekhemas. More specifically, you have to fight Zarokh, the Eternal with “The Desperate Alliance” unique vase relic placed inside the Relic Altar prior to entering.

It should also go without saying that you can only fight Zarokh when using a four-trial Djinn Barya at the Relic Altar.

Temporalis

Temporalis unique body armor

Considered by many as the best unique item in Path of Exile 2, the Temporalis is so broken right now that GGG might make some adjustments to it in the future. What makes it OP, you ask? This unique body armor contains only five mods, and although the first four are nothing to write home about, the last modifier is one that will definitely get your attention.

You see, wearing the Temporalis essentially makes the vast majority of skills usable again without any downtime. Of course, there are exceptions like the Hammer of the Gods, but the said skill is only used by a minute portion of the community anyway, making it a non-issue.

To match its exceptional modifier, the Temporalis costs an arm and a leg. How expensive is it? Well, it is being sold for a Mirror of Kalandra in the trade market. It’s that valuable!

Aside from its ability to reduce skill cooldowns by up to four seconds, another reason why the Temporalis isn’t cheap is that it can only be acquired by completing a “no-hit” Trial of the Sekhemas run, with The Last Flame unique incense relic placed on the Relic Altar.

The Adorned

The Adorned unique diamond jewel

The Adorned returns in Path of Exile 2 with the same exact modifier as its predecessor. It enhances the effects of corrupted magic jewels by up to 100%. Take note that it says “corrupted” jewels, so you have to use a Vaal Orb if the jewel you’re going to use is a non-corrupted item.

One interesting thing to note about The Adorned is that it currently works with the “increased effect of small passives” granted by corrupted time-lost jewels. Any percent value that is on the corrupted magic jewel is added to the bonus provided by The Adorned.

Whether this is a bug or not, it doesn’t erase the fact that The Adorned can potentially lead to incredible PoE 2 builds when used right.

And oh, this unique diamond only drops from the Trialmaster. Good luck!

Budget Unique Items

We are kind of reluctant to use the term “budget” because the Path of Exile 2 economy is so volatile that the price of a particular unique item can change dramatically overnight.

That said, the contenders in this section of our PoE 2 unique items guide are affordable. We define “affordable” in this context as anything that costs less than a Divine Orb.

It is also worth mentioning that the majority of unique items that you will see here drop randomly unless otherwise stated.

Anyway, without further ado, here are the best budget unique items in Path of Exile 2:

The Everlasting Gaze

The Everlasting Gaze unique amulet

The Everlasting Gaze is a leveling unique item in Path of Exile 2 whose only modifiers only affect one thing: Mana. When you have this amulet on, you gain increased mana regeneration, extra energy shield, and a flat 50-point boost in mana. Spellcasting classes like the Witch and the Sorceress will find The Everlasting Gaze of good value.

Anyway, you can enhance the modifiers on The Everlasting Gaze by using the Neural Catalyst on it.

Dream Fragments

Dream Fragments unique sapphire ring

Dream Fragments is a unique item that contains a couple of modifiers suitable for budding spellcasters in Path of Exile 2. First, it raises the bearer’s maximum mana by 20%, which is huge when playing an INT class like the aforementioned Sorceress and Witch.

Second, Dream Fragments completely immunizes you from Chill and Freeze, two of the deadliest elemental ailments in the game.

Wanderlust

Wanderlust unique boots

Temporal Chains, Chilled Ground, and other similar effects can hinder your progress considerably, especially when you don’t have the means of addressing them. Thankfully, the Wanderlust exists in the game.

Wanderlust is a practical unique item in PoE 2 that makes you immune to any detrimental effects that can slow you down. These sandals offer more than just that—they increase your movement speed by 20% as well.

Any Path of Exile 2 build can wear this unique footwear with pride, although it looks funny when worn by a towering Warrior.

The Pandemonius

The Pandemonius unique amulet

Items in Path of Exile 2 that grant any form of elemental penetration are few and far between. This next unique item ensures that your enemies will suffer a cold (and painful) death.

The main highlight of The Pandemonius is that it penetrates the cold resistance of your enemies by 75%. This is not a relative value, meaning, it always reduces the cold resistance of your foes by a fixed amount.

Keep in mind that elemental penetration in PoE 2 works differently than in the original game. You see, the elemental resistance of your enemies can no longer go below zero, rendering additional sources of elemental penetration useless. In short, elemental penetration can only make elemental resistances drop to zero and cannot go negative.

Unlike the other budget unique items mentioned thus far, The Pandemonius can only drop from Xesht (at any difficulty level).

Enfolding Dawn

Enfolding Dawn unique body armor

Do you like to use ongoing buffs as early as level 1? The Enfolding Dawn can make that possible! This unique body armor gives you 100 Spirit that you can use to activate certain skills, such as the Wind Dancer, Herald of Ice, and Grim Feast, among many others.

While you can enjoy the benefits of Spirit Skills, do bear in mind that the Enfolding Dawn has a rather big downside in that it prevents INT from increasing your maximum mana.

Builds that rely on mana-intensive skills might steer clear from this one. However, the Enfolding Dawn is quite helpful for those who don’t rely heavily on spamming abilities indiscriminately.

Xoph’s Blood

Xoph’s Blood unique amulet

Passive nodes that grant increases in maximum life are quite scarce in Path of Exile 2. That’s why you have to rely on your gear to boost your health pool. Wearing Xoph’s Blood is a good way to address that.

Aside from increasing your maximum life by up to 15%, Xoph’s Blood ensures that nearby enemies are afflicted with Fire Exposure, which effectively reduces their resistance to fire damage by 20%.

Xesht is the only one that drops this, so Xoph’s Blood isn’t exactly a unique item that you can utilize on your first playthrough. However, your second character, particularly a Titan or a Bloodmage, can use this unique ring to great effect!

Fireflower

Fireflower unique amulet

The bonus Spirit that Fireflower provides is only enough to add a support gem to your Spirit Skill like Precision or Clarity. However, take a look at its unique modifier, specifically the one that increases the level of all fire skills by four!

That’s right, any PoE 2 build that relies on fire spells can get an unfair advantage when using Fireflower. Although it damages you whenever you successfully Ignite an enemy, this can be mitigated by having a 75% fire resistance.

Cloak of Flame

Cloak of Flame unique silk robe

In case you haven’t noticed, armor sucks at mitigating physical damage in the current version of Path of Exile 2 Early Access. This has something to do with how the said defensive layer is calculated. There’s probably some value that is askew and has to be corrected if you are to rely on armor to survive.

Who would have thought that an energy shield-based body armor is better at protecting you from physical damage than your typical STR-based piece of armor? That seems to be the case with the Cloak of Flame.

The Cloak of Flame is nothing new. In fact, you can find it when you fire up Path of Exile 1 right now. What makes it useful is that it converts 40% of the physical damage you have sustained from a recent attack to fire damage.

When you have your fire resistance capped at 75%, Cloak of Flame provides effective protection against non-elemental/chaos damage attacks. If you want to level up a Warrior or Mercenary, you should consider equipping the Cloak of Flame to make your Path of Exile 2 journey easier. Just don’t mind the look.

Threaded Light

Threaded Light unique caster focus

You might toss the Threaded Light on the side after you’ve reached the endgame of Path of Exile 2. However, that is a mistake that will cost you because this unique caster focus is actually awesome no matter which stage of the game you are in.

The Threaded Light can roll up to 70% increased energy shield. If you are planning to incorporate Chaos Inoculation into your build, you will find this particular modifier very helpful when it comes to improving survivability.

This unique item is not only for bolstering defenses, though. The Threaded Light can also increase spell damage by up to 12% for every 10 points of Spirit your character has.

Minion builds in PoE 2 naturally have a high amount of Spirit to work with because minions can only be summoned using the said resource. Therefore, the Threaded Light is a perfect item to use for these builds, especially for enhancing both offense and defense.

Enezun’s Charge

Enezun’s Charge unique wand

Do you like to use Detonate Dead? After all, who doesn’t like seeing things get blown to smithereens! Enezun’s Charge can only provide benefits to builds that use the said fire-based spell. However, the reason why we’ve included this wand in our Path of Exile 2 unique items guide is that its modifiers are just too good to pass up!

For instance, Enezun’s Charge increases your spell damage by a whopping 80%. That is huge considering that you can equip this thing as early as level 16!

Take note that the level requirement of Enezun’s Charge is increased depending on the level of the Volatile Dead skill it has. If you have a version that has a level 16 Volatile Dead, for example, you need to be at level 66 before you can use it.

Snakepit

Snakepit unique ring

The Snakepit is one of those unique items in PoE 2 that grant different bonuses depending on which ring slot you put it on. It is typically placed on the left finger because it changes the way projectiles behave. Instead of hitting only one target, the projectiles can fork and damage multiple enemies instead.

This unique ring is commonly used by Chronomancers, mainly those that specialize in cold damage spells like Frostbolt and Frost Wall.

Goldrim

Goldrim unique helm

A unique item that has no downside! Yes, please! The Goldrim is an exceptional leveling unique item in PoE 2 that greatly increases your elemental resistance, as well as evasion rating.

More importantly, the Goldrim increases your item rarity, and although it only does so by 10%, that is huge considering that you can wear it as early as level 10.

Props to GGG’s design team for making the Goldrim look exquisite compared to its PoE 1 counterpart.

Rondel of Fragility

Rondel of Fragility unique amulet

A good leveling unique that feels worse as you progress through the campaign, the Rondel of Fragility is still a nice addition to the list, especially because it boosts skill speed, critical hit chance, and elemental resistances considerably.

The Rondel of Fragility is incredible for a newbie monk because critical hit chance is a particularly good stat for the said class. You can still use this amulet beyond the later stages of Act 2, provided that you wear items that grant elemental resistance to address its downside.

The Vile Knight

The Vile Knight unique helmet

The Gladiator is one of the ascendancy classes you can try in Path of Exile 1. Now, you’re probably confused as to why we’ve mentioned the Gladiator here. Well, the answer is that he has an ascendancy node that is quite similar to the unique effect of the next item we’re going to talk about, which is The Vile Knight.

This unique helmet makes you hit rare or unique enemies harder the longer they are in your presence. The maximum is only capped at 200%, but that should be more than enough to defeat even the toughest foes in the campaign.

Having said that, The Vile Knight can be utilized by any builds that rely on armor or evasion as their main defensive layers, namely the Warrior, Mercenary, or Ranger.

Black Sun Crest

Black Sun Crest unique helm

The Black Sun Crest was one of the most sought-after unique items in PoE 1, particularly for those who play the Tornado Shot Deadeye build. It was typically used in conjunction with another unique item called Crystallised Omniscience for that immense boost in elemental penetration.

Although the version in Path of Exile 2 is not as popular as in the original game, the Black Sun Crest is still valuable for those who want to stack all of the primary attributes, including strength, dexterity, and intelligence.

As the game evolves, there is no doubt that the Black Sun Crest will rise to prominence once again.

Tips

Corrupt Those Uniques

The Vaal Orb can corrupt any item in the game, with varying results. One of the possible outcomes is that the item’s modifiers might go beyond its maximum values (as in the case of Ryslatha’s Coil).

If you are lucky, the Vaal Orb can also add another rune socket to your unique item. This is true when you use it on the Morior Invictus.

Before you go use Vaal Orbs, though, just remember that this PoE 2 currency item prevents you from making any further improvements. So, make sure that everything is in order before corrupting your items with it.

Use Upgrade Currencies Before ‘Vaaling’

Armourer’s Scraps and Blacksmith’s Whetstones are just some of the upgrade currencies available in Path of Exile 2. The former increases the quality of armor pieces, such as the body armor, helmet, gloves, and boots. The latter, on the other hand, refines the quality of weapons, granting 20% more damage when raised to their highest quality.

The reason why we mentioned them here is that people often forget to use the specific PoE 2 currency to improve their gear. Don’t make the same mistake on a unique item!

If you were careless and used a Vaal Orb to corrupt a unique item, you can no longer utilize any of the upgrade currencies in the game to improve your equipment.

Gamble using Chance Orbs on Base Items

The Orb of Chance is a rare currency item in Path of Exile 2 that only has two functions. It can either turn a normal rarity item into a unique item, or completely destroy it if you’re unlucky.

Even if you don’t want to leave things to chance, don’t be afraid to gamble using Orbs of Chance on normal items. Who knows, you might even get lucky and get a Headhunter or Polcirkeln for your efforts!

Hunt for Boss Maps

Every map node on the Atlas doesn’t guarantee a boss encounter at the end. No matter how you feel about it, know that eliminating bosses, in general, can yield favorable outcomes.

If you somehow do not get unique items to drop for some reason, perhaps you need to take on map bosses more often. Don’t forget to insert a juiced-up Waystone while you’re at it to significantly turn the odds in your favor.

Always Have Precursor Tablets Running

Precursor tablets might look simple on the surface but they’re actually more useful than you think! These items can make surrounding maps gain new modifiers that improve the drop rate of items considerably.

That said, put Precursor Tablets in Lost Towers that specifically “irradiate” nearby map nodes. Irradiated maps in PoE 2 mean that the monsters in these areas are a level higher than usual.

Engage in Gambling

No, not in real life! Rather, talk to certain vendor NPCs in town so that you can gamble for items. Sometimes, you will get unique items this way.

There are a couple of things that you have to keep in mind when gambling in PoE 2. First, you can only gamble using gold as the currency. Second, the number of items that you can gamble from campaign NPCs is dependent on how many unique bosses you’ve faced so far. Fortunately, this limitation does not exist in the endgame gambling NPC.

Final Thoughts

Unique items possess things that even the most well-rolled rare items cannot provide. Some of them are build-defining, while others grant incredible bonuses for something that only occupies a single item slot.
