With the release of 0.3.0 The Third Edict, classes and builds got a major overhaul. Before committing to a build, we suggest that you check out our The Third Edict Best Class Tier List, and our guide on the Best Builds in The Third Edict.

Do you want to play one of the best Warrior Builds in Path of Exile 2? If so, you are going to love what we have for you today! In this article, we will share with you our take on the Stampede Titan build in PoE 2 Rise of the Abyssals League.

Take note that this build does require a lot of rare items. So, if you want to obtain the best possible ones without farming and crafting them yourself, do pay a visit to our PoE 2 Store right away!

Why Play the Stampede Titan in Patch 0.3.0?

The Stampede Titan is meant for those who want to rush to a huge pack of monsters and destroy them with a powerful slam. Although this is not the most agile boss killer in the game, this build does pack a punch, allowing you to eliminate even pinnacle bosses with endgame gear!

Now, the typical Stampede Titan only relies on two skills—Stampede and Hammer of the Gods. Stampede is a melee skill where you charge forward and slam the ground at the end of the animation, detonating the Jagged Ground you have created in your wake.

On the other hand, Hammer of the Gods (HoTG) is your main skill against bosses and tough monsters. It has the longest cooldown among all skills in Path of Exile 2 at the time of writing, where you have to wait a full 24 seconds before you can cast it again.

That said, our version of the PoE 2 Stampede Titan in Patch 0.3.0 is different because we also incorporate a few extra skills to make things more dynamic. Hammer of the Gods has a 24-second cooldown, right? So, what are you going to rely on if you are not able to one-shot the enemy? That is where the Ancestral Warrior Totem comes in.

This totem has the skill, Rolling Slam, socketed into it. The Ancestral Warrior Totem will use this skill continuously until it gets killed by the boss or if its duration has expired.

Next, we have Earthshatter. This is only used on bosses, specifically during their intro animation. Preemptively place a number of Earthshatter Spikes on top of the boss, and then when you are able to damage it, use Seismic Cry before casting Hammer of the Gods to deal massive amounts of damage!

And then, we have Cast on Elemental Ailment. That’s right, our version takes advantage of Ignite for additional damage. In case you don't know, Cast on Elemental Ailment combines the effects of Cast on Ignite, Cast on Freeze, and Cast on Shock into one. This is introduced in PoE 2 Patch 0.3.0.

Anyway, you will put a level 7 Detonate Dead skill into Cast on Ignite. Because of how quickly you can inflict Ignite with your slams, Detonate Dead will always proc as a result. If you are wondering why only use a low-level DD, that is because its damage does not scale with skill levels (though its mana cost will). Hence, you leave it at that number and never look back.

As a Titan Build in PoE 2, you need to be acquainted with weapon swapping because you are going to use two different weapon setups to maximize your damage output. If you want to learn more about this mechanic, you can check out our PoE 2 guide.

The ascendancy of choice for this build is the Titan. The main reason why is that he has access to one of the most overpowered ascendancy nodes in the game—Hulking Form. This essentially increases the effect of all small passive skills you allocate by 50%!

Additionally, the Titan can carry more items due to Colossal Capacity, which is an ascendancy node that happens to be placed before Hulking Form. That means that you always take this one before you can get to the node that you really need.

Now, there is only a limited number of notable passive skills currently in the game that can raise your maximum life. Apparently, this was intended by GGG so that you do not have to think about taking life nodes if the points can be spent on offensive and defensive effects instead.

While that philosophy makes sense for a complete beginner, it is a bit of a pain to not have a substantial amount of HP. Fortunately, the Titan has “Mysterious Lineage” that grants 15% more maximum life. This is the reason why Titans always have a relatively larger health pool compared to other PoE 2 classes.

Although Crushing Impacts is not bad because it empowers your hits, making enemies more susceptible to a heavy stun when your primary skills land, we still took Earthbreaker for this build. This is mainly because of the chance to cause aftershocks with Stampede and Hammer of the Gods. If you do not know, aftershocks in Path of Exile 2 deal the same amount of damage as the skill that caused it.

Here are the ideal ascendancy nodes to allocate for the Stampede Titan in Patch 0.3.0(in order):

  1. Earthbreaker (Replace with Colossal Capacity when your 2nd ascendancy is unlocked)
  2. Hulking Form
  3. Earthbreaker
  4. Mysterious Lineage

In terms of the modifiers on gear, here are the ones to look for:

  • Adds Physical Damage
  • Increased Physical Damage
  • + to Maximum Life
  • + to Level of All Skills
  • Increased Attack Speed
  • Increased Stun Build-Up
  • Increased Armour
  • Adds Fire Damage to Attacks

Playstyle

Use Stampede all the time while you are mapping. This also serves as your movement ability since you will rush forward when the skill is used. Stampede does take time to master because there is still no way to completely control your movement when you start rushing forward.

When fighting rare monsters, you can drop your Ancestral Warrior Totem to help you with dealing damage. Do not forget to cast Infernal Cry as soon as it is off cooldown to empower your next attacks.

During boss fights, cast Earthshatter numerous times until the encounter begins. Use Seismic Cry to shatter the spikes and then cast Hammer of the Gods for huge damage. If the boss survives for some reason, lay down your Ancestral Warrior Totem so that it can help you finish the job.

In Patch 0.3.0, GGG added Sprinting to Path of Exile 2: The Third Edict. This allows you to move freely in the game, provided that you stop at the right time before the enemy hits you. You can use sprint now to search for targets, making it less clunky when moving around the map.

Stampede Titan Gear Recommendations

Although this Stampede Titan build in Path of Exile 2: The Third Edict uses mostly rare items, some of them can get really expensive. That is why we invite you to our PoE 2 Currency Store to purchase Divine Orbs at a very cheap price!

Also, you will need a few weapons to maximize your damage output via the weapon swap system. That is why the Stampede Titan could be very expensive depending on how min-maxed you want the stats of each weapon should be.

Weapon

Before we begin, this particular weapon is for the first weapon slot, which is mainly for boosting the damage of Hammer of the Gods. Equip two of these, making sure that you have enough STR to satisfy their humongous attribute requirements.

That said, your priority here is to get the three physical damage mods, as well as "+ to Level of All Melee Skills." Make sure that you get as high as +7 to melee skills to ensure that your HoTG can kill the boss in one cast (or at least, leave it under 25% of its maximum life).

Alternate Weapon

The second weapon set is reserved for Stampede. Go for the Expert Temple Maul as it has the highest attack speed among the other two-handed maces in the game. Its damage is noticeably lower than the Expert Oak Greathammer, but it should be enough for killing regular map monsters.

As part of your passive skills, you will allocate Giant's Blood so that you can wield either a couple of two-handed weapons or a single two-handed weapon and a shield.

Having said that, the shield that you are going to wear on the second weapon set must have high amounts of block chance, physical damage reduction, and armor. You can also fit in STR and one resistance modifier, whichever you need for the build.

Body Armor

You need about 170 Spirit to activate every aura and Spirit Support Gem on the Stampede Titan. That is why you grab any armor-based chest armor with a Spirit mod on it (at least 40). Besides that, you can have STR and a couple of resistance modifiers here as well.

Check out our guide if you want to know how to get more Spirit in Path of Exile 2.

Helmet

This slot is one of the only pieces of gear that can roll item rarity that does not affect the build in a negative way. So, if you want to increase your chances of finding better loot, wear a rare helmet.

If you don't mind the loss of life and defense, you can replace the rare helmet with Thrillsteel instead. Thrillsteel grants permanent Onslaught, which is a buff that gives you 20% increased skill speed and 10% increased movement speed. These modifiers can certainly help hasten Stampede, Hammer of the Gods, and Earthshatter, among other skills.

Gloves

For the gloves, prioritize attack speed and "+2 to Level of All Melee Skills." If you have the budget, you can have a maximum life roll, as well as strength. Yes, you need that much strength to address the triple attribute requirements imposed by Giant's Blood.

Boots

As is customary for the boots in Path of Exile 2, they must have a high movement speed modifier. If you are at a high level already, always buy rare boots that have 35% increased movement speed and STR. If you have not capped your resistances yet, these boots can have a couple of resistance mods as well.

Amulet

The amulet is the next item slot that can roll up to 50 Spirit. If you have Spirit on the body armor, you only need another 40 on the amulet.

Aside from the Spirit mod, the amulet can roll "+3 to Level of Melee Skills" as well. You can purchase this amulet from our PoE 2 Store if you want since an amulet with this particular modifier is quite expensive on trade.

As for the anoint, you can go for Acceleration to make Stampede feel much smoother to use. This requires the Distilled Fear, Distilled Envy, and Distilled Disgust (placed in the exact order).

Rings

Get a couple of Breach Rings that have physical and fire damage to attacks. You need the added fire damage so that you can ignite enemies every time you hit them with your slam skills. Of course, these rings must also have life, strength, and some resistance modifiers.

Belt

Breach Rings in Path of Exile 2: The Third Edict are always paired with the Ingenuity belt, especially one that has more than a 70% increased effect. If you cannot afford this right now, you will need one eventually since you want the added fire damage mod to get boosted considerably. This is so that you can inflict Ignite more frequently as you slam the ground with Stampede or Hammer of the Gods.

In the meantime, you can settle for a rare belt that has life, strength, and resistance modifiers. If you want to add another charm slot, you can certainly do so!

Flasks

You do not need a mana flask for the Stampede Titan build in PoE 2 Rise of the Abyssals League. That is because you will allocate “Blood Magic,” which converts all skill costs from mana to life. This is also the reason why having a substantial amount of life is needed not only to help you survive longer but also to address the life cost associated with using your skills.

Having said that, get a Life Flask that has “Increased Charges” and “Increased Amount Recovered,” both with higher rolls to maximize the flask slot.

If you can afford one, buy Olroth's Resolve for better survivability. This unique flask essentially adds another defensive layer that is taken before life when you get hit.

Jewels

The most important modifier on a jewel for the Stampede Titan is “Gain Rage on Melee Hit.” This is because you are activating Berserk—a persistent aura that makes the damage boost provided by Rage more potent.

The other set of modifiers to look for when buying a rare jewel is:

  • Increased Warcry Buff Effect
  • Increased Block Chance
  • +2% to Maximum Fire Resistance
  • Damage Penetrates % Fire Resistance
  • Increased Chance to Ignite
  • Increased Stun Build-Up
  • Increased Stun Build-Up with Maces

If you want to add unique jewels to the build, go for Against the Darkness which has “Gain 4% of Damage as Extra Fire Damage.” You will insert this into the jewel socket near “Pile On” to gain a whopping 24% extra fire damage! If you can afford Against the Darkness that has “4% Increased Strength,” that is even better!

We highly recommend that you purchase a Megalomaniac Jewel, specifically with “Offensive Stance” as one of its modifiers. The reason is that this jewel is a much cheaper way to gain access to that notable passive skill. Instilling it on the amulet would require Distilled Isolation, which is the most expensive Distilled Emotion in PoE 2 right now.

While not mandatory, it is nice to have at least two Grand Spectrum Ruby Jewels to gain a 4% increased maximum life. The more Grand Spectrum Rubies you have, the better!

Passive Tree

Our version of the PoE 2 Stampede Titan build in Patch 0.3.0 requires you to be acquainted with the weapon set skill system. To put it simply, you allocate skill points on passives that only affect a specific weapon set (and not both).

That said, your first weapon set is for the Hammer of the Gods. This is highlighted in red on the passive tree. The nodes that you get have something to do with improving ignite chance, area of effect, and melee damage.

Your second weapon set is primarily to increase the area of effect of Stampede and gain a higher chance of breaking the enemy's armor when they are hit by the said slam skill.

Now, this Path of Exile 2 build does allocate a few keystone passives. Blood Magic is crucial to the build's success since it converts all mana skill costs to life costs instead. This keystone virtually removes all your mana, forcing you to spend a portion of your life every time you use your skills.

Blood Magic is necessary because if you do not have it, the insane mana cost of Hammer of the Gods, Stampede, and Cast on Ignite DD can eat up your mana pool like there's no tomorrow!

When you read the description for Resolute Technique, you might think that this is detrimental to the build. However, that is just far from the truth! You see, Resolute Technique makes it so that your Hammer of the Gods and Stampede will always hit the enemy! This is a blessing for HoTG since it has a very long cooldown and not being able to hit enemies with it is just a wasted use of the skill.

As is tradition with almost all Titan Builds in PoE 2, there is Giant's Blood. This keystone passive allows you to wield two-handed weapons on each hand, though the downside is that you have to satisfy their huge STR requirements. That is also the reason why every piece of gear that you have contains the strength mod.

So, in terms of skill point allocation, grab Brutal and Smash. Head a bit upward and then towards the left until you get to Blood Rush. From there, go down and then head left and proceed until you have access to Resolute Technique.

Once Resolute Technique is allocated, go down again and head left once more. Get Pile On and Irreparable and then go back and get that jewel socket on the left. Go upward and take the nodes on the left (“Split the Earth” and “Skull Crusher”) and on the right (“Heavy Armour” and “Made to Last”).

Head back to the jewel socket before those aforementioned nodes and go right. Take Giant's Blood, making sure that you also allocate “Brute Strength” along the way. After that, you head to the left again and go all the way up until you allocate Blood Magic.

At this point, you have the freedom to choose which path you should prioritize next. You could take Fulmination and Overheating Blow if you want to improve your chance to ignite enemies (as well as gain the ability to inflict Fire Exposure).

Alternatively, you have the option of allocating the passive nodes near Resolute Technique first for more area damage and increased damage to immobilized enemies.

Always remember to use the appropriate weapon set skills so that you can get the most out of your primary skills.

Tips and Strategies [Patch 0.3.0]

Use Mace Strike for Clearing

Although Stampede does a pretty good job of eliminating multiple map monsters at once, it is pretty clunky at that. Not only is there a slight delay before you rush forward, but as previously mentioned in this PoE 2 Stampede Titan guide, there is no real way of controlling your movement.

So, if you do not like to use Stampede often for the purpose of eliminating those monsters, you can utilize Mace Strike instead. If you do, put Martial Tempo and Splinter to enhance the Mace Strike.

Pick Boneshatter and Perfect Strike

Stampede won't be available to you until level 41. Before you get to that point, use Boneshatter for the time being. Of course, you have the option of utilizing Perfect Strike as well. This is because of the addition of the new support gem called Perfection. You can learn more about it in our PoE 2 new support gems article.

Anoint Offensive Stance

Our version of the Stampede Titan in PoE 2 Rise of the Abyssals League primarily focuses on igniting enemies for those big hits. Therefore, it does not have the luxury of going up the passive skill tree, which would have given you the ability to allocate Offensive Stance without anointing it onto your amulet.

Offensive Stance is pretty awesome because it grants 1% increased damage per 1% chance to block. That is not only on your shield, though, because that is from your overall block chance (which is maxed at 75%).

If you can afford a Megalomaniac Jewel with Offensive Stance and another useful notable passive skill that works for the build, then that is even better! Otherwise, anoint it on your amulet if you want more damage.

Is Concoct Viable?

For those who do not know, Concoct is a support gem in PoE 2 Patch 0.3.0 that enhances any attack skill that can inflict Bleed. Although it certainly provides a considerable damage boost, we are not focusing on bleeding damage in this version of the build.

However, if you lean more towards bleeding damage instead of causing the enemy to ignite, you can definitely put Concoct on the Hammer of the Gods. Do not worry, we will create another PoE 2 build guide that specifically prioritizes bleeding damage for Hammer of the Gods, so stay tuned for that!

Is Olroth's Resolve That Good?

Olroth's Resolve is a unique flask that, when used, grants a protective barrier that absorbs damage before your HP. Even though this is not vital to the success of the build since you can just use a well-rolled Life Flask, we still recommend that you buy an Olroth's Resolve if you have the PoE 2 Currency.

Remember, you will allocate Blood Magic on this build, which means that you spend life instead of mana when utilizing your skills. A level 40 Hammer of the Gods, for example, can eat up a huge chunk of your life in every use. Gaining another defensive layer can really help you in these situations.

So yes, we still recommend that you get Olroth's Resolve when you have the means to do so!

Increase Your Stun Threshold

The Stampede Titan always takes a beating because he does not have any evasion rating whatsoever. So, if you find yourself getting stunned frequently, we recommend that you increase your stun threshold.

One way you can do that is by wearing body armor that has that particular modifier. Additionally, you can equip a rare Heavy Belt, which provides you with a 20-30% increased stun threshold.

If you still get stunned frequently, you can allocate Titanic and Unbending on the passive tree.

Stampede Titan

PoE 2 Stampede Titan in Patch 0.3.0: Final Thoughts

The Stampede Titan is one of the best Warrior Builds in Path of Exile right now. If the thought of rushing to a big group of enemies and killing them with a well-placed slam excites you, then you will definitely love this build!

Hammer of the Gods remains untouched in Patch 0.3.0. With the slew of new support gems and items in Path of Exile 2: The Third Edict, the Stampede Titan has become a force to be reckoned with!

There is the new Cast on Elemental Ailment, which causes enemies to explode thanks to the socketed Detonate Dead skill. Leave it at level 7 and you won't have problems with life costs.

This build is no slouch defensively because it has a very high life pool, incredible amounts of physical damage reduction, and a shield that enables you to block incoming hits.

Do you have any questions about the build? Feel free to ask in the comments! Also, visit our PoE 2 Store regularly to get exclusive discounts. You can buy any item that you need—whether you are playing the Stampede Titan or another build, we have got you covered!
