New lineage support gems have dropped as part of Path of Exile 2: The Last of the Druids. These are powerful support gems that provide bonuses that you can’t find anywhere else. Some of them are quite similar to existing support gems, though they give a much higher numerical value.

That said, there are some pretty interesting lineage supports introduced in Patch 0.4.0. So in this article, I will go over each one and tell you where they excel, so you will know how to best include them in your PoE 2 build.

Now, in case you don’t know, GGG has reduced the drop rate of lineage support gems in Path of Exile 2: The Last of the Druids. If you are struggling to find any of them throughout your journey to Wraeclast, then go to our PoE 2 Store to get them immediately!

What Are Lineage Support Gems?

If this is your first time playing PoE 2, you might be wondering what lineage support gems are. Simply put, lineage supports (as they are often called) are a separate class of support gems that can empower skills much better than their “regular” counterparts. Think of them as the “unique” class of support gems, if you will.

Having said that, here are some important tidbits of information that you have to know with regard to the lineage support gems in PoE 2:

• You can only use one copy of a lineage support gem. If you are using Rakiata’s Flow to improve Shred, for example, you cannot use it on other active skills.
• The said limit can be circumvented, however, by using a unique item called Solus Ipse. With the Solus Ipse equipped, you can use up to three copies of the same lineage support gem in different skills.
• You cannot use the same category of lineage support gems in one skill. For instance, Ratha’s Assault cannot be paired with Rapid Attacks II simply because they are of the same category (in other words, choose only one or the other).
• Some lineage support gems offer entirely unique effects, which you cannot find anywhere else in the game.
• These powerful support gems have a level restriction. You can only start using them if you are at least level 65.
• Certain lineage supports come with downsides to “balance” the positive benefits they provide. Some examples of these include Romira’s Requital, Sione’s Temper, and Kaom’s Madness, among others.
• Most of the lineage support gems in PoE 2 can be acquired as a random drop, though there are some that would require you to engage with certain mechanics or bosses.

The New Lineage Support Gems in PoE 2: The Last of the Druids

Are you interested in knowing how many new lineage support gems have been added in Patch 0.4.0? Well, there are about 11 lineage supports in Path of Exile 2: The Last of the Druids.

I am going to go over each one, explaining how they work and how best to use them, so that you can decide for yourself if you’re going to add them to your next PoE 2 build or not. Additionally, these gems will be highlighted in no particular order. Select the ones that you think are right for you.

Cirel’s Cultivation

Totems are incredible skills, but not a lot of people use them because of their rather “strategic” playstyle. However, if you are a totem enjoyer, then you might love Cirel’s Cultivation.

This lineage support gem can be inserted into various totem skills like Artillery Ballista, Mortar Cannon, and Dark Effigy. However, it is best slotted into the Siege Ballista, primarily because of its relatively slower attack speed compared to the others just mentioned, as well as negating the downside of using Cirel’s Cultivation.

What Cirel’s Cultivation does is greatly increase the area of effect, life regeneration, and damage of the supported totem skill. However, this comes at the cost of only summoning one copy of that totem at a time.

Fortunately, the same downside only applies to a particular skill that is supported by Cirel’s Cultivation. Assuming that you have this lineage support gem boosting the Siege Ballista, you can freely use the Mortar Cannon and/or Artillery Ballista without any of the constraints.

Xibaqua’s Rending

Do you like to play melee builds in Path of Exile 2: The Last of the Druids using skills that prompt you to jump as high as you can for movement? If that is the case, you might be interested in trying Xibaqua’s Rending out.

Xibaqua’s Rending causes the corpses where you land after using a leaping skill to detonate, dealing fire damage based on 6% of their maximum life. This is ideal for Warrior and Druid skills, including Leap Slam, Pounce, and Molten Crash, to name a few.

Molten Crash cannot be created using the Uncut Skill Gem since it is only accessible if you equip the Fury of the King. This unique item costs about 8-10 Divines at the time of writing. If you want to buy Divine Orbs, we offer exclusive discount bundles on Divines in our PoE 2 Store.

Oisin’s Oath

When the patch notes for The Last of the Druids expansion dropped, many people were worried because GGG had effectively removed the Walker of the Wilds keystone passive. For the uninitiated, Walker of the Wilds used to enable you to leech life from enemies with elemental damage.

Well, the good news is that this particular effect is not entirely gone from the game; it has just been transferred into the new lineage support gem called Oisin’s Oath. 

While you can certainly use it in elemental-based skills like Lightning Arrow or Tempest Flurry, Oisin’s Oath can actually be slotted into Wind Dancer. This is assuming you put other support gems that turn it into an elemental skill, including Freeze, Embitter, Cold Attunement, and other similar effects.

Tasalio’s Rhythm

Tasalio’s Rhythm makes skills that require timing to maximize their effects, like Snipe, Gathering Storm, and Perfect Strike, more rewarding to use.

Whenever you perfectly time the execution of any of the aforementioned skills, you gain a stack of Tasalio’s Rhythm. Each stack grants 10% more damage and shortens the “perfect timing” window of the supported skill by 30%, making them easier to execute. This effect stacks up to five times, so you are effectively getting 50% more damage and 150% shorter window of opportunity at maximum stacks!

Even though Tasalio’s Rhythm seems so promising, I have a couple of issues with it. For one, you can only use this lineage support gem in any of the skills mentioned above (three is quite limiting). Furthermore, if you do not execute those skills in a timely manner, you will lose all stacks at once.

Still, Tasalio’s Rhythm could provide substantial benefits to Perfect Strike and Snipe, so long as you ensure that you don’t miss the short window of opportunity.

Atziri’s Communion

Atziri’s Communion benefits any PoE 2 build that tries to use a lot of auras that reserve Spirit. This is because this lineage support gem converts some of that Spirit cost into life cost when used. You could put Atziri’s Communion into Archmage to save yourself from that high 100 Spirit cost to enable the said persistent buff. 

Using this lineage support gem also makes it easier for you to get into “low-life” status, allowing you to get additional effects from notable passive skills that only activate if you are below 35% of your maximum life (like Pain Attunement and Killer Instinct).

Dreamer’s Knell

Dreamer’s Knell allows you to conjure multiple bells when you use supported skills that require you to spend combo points. Striking these bells deals damage equal to 40% of your default attack damage, which can be improved with the right PoE 2 items.

The only problem here is that Dreamer’s Knell can only support two skills at the moment. These are Tempest Bell and Mantra of Destruction. You won’t have a problem with the former because it is still relatively popular, but the latter is quite niche. That is why I predict that Dreamer’s Knell might be one of the most underutilized lineage support gems in Path of Exile 2: The Last of the Druids.

Khatal’s Rejuvenation

Whether you are playing the Stormweaver or Blood Mage ascendancies in PoE 2 Patch 0.4.0, you will find great benefit from using Khatal’s Rejuvenation. This is inserted into any skill that creates Remnants, including Life Remnants, Mana Remnants, and Grim Feast, just to name a few.

What it does is it gives you a stacking buff of the same name that increases your cooldown recovery rate by 5% (this effect stacks up to eight times for a total of 40%). This boost in cooldown recovery rate affects all of your skills, which means that if you’re using skills with long cooldowns like Sigil of Power and Frost Wall, they become available almost immediately at maximum stacks of Khatal’s Rejuvenation!

Helbrym’s Hide

This next lineage support gem is ideal for those who shapeshift into any of the Druid’s animal forms quite frequently. Helbrym’s Hide grants a buff that allows you to store the damage you have taken. This is active every time you use any of the shapeshifting skills, including Pounce, Walking Calamity, and Oil Barrage.

What will this lineage support gem do with that stored damage? Well, it gives you a defensive layer called “Guard” based on the amount of damage you have taken. So, if you have received 3,000 damage, you get Guard at a proportionate rate.

This is best used with abilities that force you to shapeshift into a Werewolf of Wyvern, since these animal forms are not particularly well known for their impenetrable defense (unlike the Bear Form).

Bhatair’s Vengeance

Bhatair’s Vengeance is quite a popular lineage support gem in Path of Exile 2: The Last of the Druids simply because it accentuates a cold-based Druid build really well. This particular lineage support gem grants 1% extra cold damage for every point of Rage that you have after freezing an enemy with the supported skill.

Naturally, you can slot it into Shred and Lunar Assault and call it a day. This is because these are highly effective skills that deal cold damage.

However, it is also possible for non-cold-damage skills like Maul to take advantage of Bhatair’s Vengeance, so long as you put Cold Attunement, Embitter, and Freeze as added support gems.

The popularity of Bhatair’s Vengeance in Patch 0.4.0 is just a testament to how people are enjoying the new Druid Class so far.

Zarokh’s Revolt

Zarokh’s Revolt is just a beefed-up version of Unleash Support, where it allows supported skills to recur, depending on the number of seals you have at the time of casting. Ideally, you want to put Zarokh’s Revolt into skills that have a relatively long cast time to ensure that you get at least five seals (which is the max).

That is why you often see Zarokh’s Revolt being used to boost Comet and Arc since they have a cast time of 1 second and 1.10 seconds, respectively (yes, a full second for a skill feels like an eternity in PoE 2).

Zerphi’s Infamy

The last lineage support gem on this list is none other than Zerphi’s Infamy. This thing significantly boosts the damage of the supported skill. However, it is important to note that Zerphi’s Infamy imposes a Glory requirement before you can use that skill. Don’t fret, this lineage support also makes other skills generate Glory, so it’s not like there’s a huge downtime here.

While Zerphi’s Infamy can be used on a wide variety of skills, those abilities must use a portion of your life to be able to generate Glory. Hence, you either allocate the “Blood Magic” keystone passive or insert Atalui’s Bloodletting to address that.

Despite its rather steep requirements, Zerphi’s Infamy is still awesome, especially when you factor in its ability to increase the damage and area of effect of its supported skill to a significant degree.

Patch 0.4.0 has introduced quite a number of interesting lineage support gems. Oisin’s Oath can benefit a lot of elemental damage builds in PoE 2, primarily because it enables those builds to leech mana off of enemies with fire, cold, or lightning damage.

Bhatair’s Vengeance is another popular lineage support that you might want to use. This thing grants extra cold damage, enhancing skills like Pounce and Lunar Assault even more when used.

Despite the nerf to Atalui’s Bloodletting in Path of Exile 2: The Last of the Druids, you can repurpose that by slotting it along with Zerphi’s Infamy. Doing so alleviates the need for the Blood Magic keystone. However, you will need Blood Magic if you don’t have Atalui’s Bloodletting on hand.

Khatal’s Rejuvenation is actually quite amazing, as it makes skills that have long cooldowns only suffer from a minor setback. This only works with “remnant-producing” skills, though, so keep that in mind.
