Diablo 2: Resurrected , Game Guides

Super-charged and electrifying - these are the words that I would use to describe the D2R build that I am going to highlight in this article. As you may have guessed, I am referring to the trusty Lightning Sorceress.
The Lightning Sorceress is a very powerful build. Although it is challenging to put up at first, it becomes an insane build that can clear the Terror Zones easily when it has the best D2R items. Speaking of which, the Lightning Sorceress enjoys a lot of options when it comes to gear, so you can play this build really well depending on your current budget.
If you are looking for an incredible build that handles all content in Diablo II: Resurrected, then you have come to the right place! This is our best Lightning Sorceress build guide for D2R Season 13!
Why Play the Lightning Sorceress in D2R Season 13?
The Lightning Sorceress is not to be confused with the Nova Sorceress, which is an entirely different build in Diablo II: Resurrected. Whereas the latter utilizes an AoE spell, the build we are going to talk about here actually uses three different skills, namely Lightning, Chain Lightning, and Charged Bolt.
The titular Lightning is one of your primary skills that is capable of slaying multiple enemies in a straight line. Since Terror Zones are often populated by groups of monsters at a time, Lightning is such a useful spell to use in these areas.
If the enemies are bunched up but are not necessarily organized in a straight line, then that is where Chain Lightning comes in. Chain Lightning seeks out nearby enemies after colliding with the main target.
How about Charged Bolt? Remember those enemies that have the “Lightning Enchanted” affix? What happens when you hit them? That’s right, they create damaging charged bolts that will tear through anyone who comes unprepared for the fight.
Fortunately, you are going to be the one to dispense pain! Charged Bolt is an exceptionally awesome skill to use against single targets, particularly the new Heralds of Terror introduced in D2R Season 13!
Admittedly, the Lightning Sorceress can only deal one damage type. That is why you need to invest in a Renewed Crack of the Heavens to ensure that you will kill lightning-immune monsters without any problems.
So, back to the question posed earlier: Why should you play the Lightning Sorceress in D2R Season 13? Well, it is a well-rounded build that you can use to clear any content in the game. In fact, it is one of the best Sorceress builds in Diablo II: Resurrected right now!
Stat Allocation
Strength: 95 or 156
Dexterity: 0 or 75
Vitality: Spend the rest of the points here
Energy: None
The Strength and Dexterity allocations for the Lightning Sorceress build in D2R Season 13 entirely depend on what items you want to equip. For example, if you are going to self-wield Infinity for that Conviction Aura and up to -55% to enemy lightning resistance, you only need to go for 95 STR to wear most of your stuff (including the War Traveler). However, if you want to use Spirit, which requires a Monarch Shield, you need the full 156 STR.
For Dexterity, you don’t have to put any stat points into it since this will be covered by your gear. You only need to invest in DEX if you want to wield the Wizardspike. Otherwise, you can skip putting any point on DEX because we are not aiming for a respectable block rate anyway.
This version of the build does not use Energy Shield for survival. Hence, you dump all of your extra stat points on Vitality.
Skill Breakdown

- 20 points on Lightning
- 20 points on Chain Lightning
- 20 points on Lightning Mastery
- 20 points on Charged Bolt
- 20 points on Nova
- 5 points on Warmth
- Put 1 point on the following:
- Static Field
- Telekinesis
- Thunderstorm
- Frozen Armor
- Teleport
Most of your skill points are spent on lightning spells. Lightning, Chain Lightning, and Charged Bolt are the main spells that you can use to your advantage, while Nova and Lightning Mastery provide damage boosts to the aforementioned skills.
One of the main problems with this build is that it is quite mana-intensive. To help address this, you should spend more than one point on Warmth to ensure that your mana regeneration can keep up with your mana consumption.
In most variations of the build, you should put one point on Teleport, and that’s it. Teleport is such a crucial spell for this build because you’ll need it to get past lightning-immune monsters until you can get a Renewed Crack of the Heavens.
The only time that you shouldn’t get Teleport is when you equip an Enigma (Mage Plate). If you opt for a different body armor on the Lightning Sorceress, then putting one point on Teleport becomes a no-brainer.
Breakpoints
The most important breakpoint that you need to pay attention to on the Lightning Sorceress is Faster Cast Rate (or FCR). All of your skills require FCR to reduce their skill animation considerably. However, there are two different FCR values that you need to be aware of: one for both Lightning/Chain Lightning and the second for the rest of your spells.
You see, Lightning and Chain Lightning have a 19-frame animation each. The longer skill animation is intended to balance the aforementioned skills with the rest of the spells available to the Sorceress in terms of damage output.
That is why you need to have at least 117% FCR to truly enjoy the Lightning Sorceress in all its glory.
Here are the FCR values for the Lightning Sorceress that you need to keep in mind:
| Frames | Standard (Most Spells) | Lightning/Chain Lightning |
| 19 | - | 0% |
| 18 | - | 7% |
| 17 | - | 15% |
| 16 | - | 23% |
| 15 | - | 35% |
| 14 | - | 52% |
| 13 | 0% | 78% |
| 12 | 9% | 117% |
| 11 | 20% | 194% |
| 10 | 37% | - |
| 9 | 63% | - |
| 8 | 105% | - |
| 7 | 200% | - |
The 117% FCR breakpoint is good because it lowers the animation frames of Lightning and Chain Lightning down to just 12. This amount also covers the 105% FCR breakpoint that you need for the other skills in your kit.
If you are not fully geared just yet, aim to achieve a 63% FCR breakpoint. Consider this amount as the bare minimum. Never go lower than 63% so that your primary skills are comfortable to use, even in tough situations.
Playstyle
Switch to Call to Arms and Spirit to cast Frozen Armor. After that, swap to your main weapon, and then cast Teleport to reach your preferred farming spot in Diablo II: Resurrected.
Use Lightning and Chain Lightning interchangeably, depending on the situation. Chain Lightning excels at killing groups of monsters, while Lightning is best for two to three enemies that are in a relatively straight line.
When fighting bosses, such as Ubers and the new Heralds of Terror in D2R Season 13, use Charged Bolt if you can come close. Otherwise, use Lightning until they are dead.
Gear
One of the strengths of the Lightning Sorceress is that she has plenty of gear options to choose from. If you are using unique items in Diablo II: Resurrected, make sure to socket them with Rainbow Facet: Lightning jewels to greatly boost your damage output.

FAQ
What FCR Breakpoint Should I Aim For?
The ideal FCR value for the Lightning Sorceress in D2R Season 13 is 117%. The bare minimum should be 63%.
How Do I Deal with Lightning Immunes?
Because this build can only deal one damage type, it suffers from monsters that are immune to lightning damage. That is why you need to invest in the Latent/Renewed Crack of the Heavens as soon as you can, because this Sunder Charm breaks the enemy’s lightning immunity.
If you don’t have the Sunder Charm yet, just go past the enemy by using Teleport.
What Mercenary is Best for the Lightning Sorceress?
Since this build is hungry for mana, an Act 2 Mercenary (Might Aura) with Insight is the ideal choice. However, if mana is not an issue for you, then go for an Act 5 Frenzy Barb that is equipped with a Malice (Crystal Sword) on one hand and Plague (Phase Blade) on the other.
