The God Wars Dungeon found in OSRS is one of the most iconic locations in the game's history. This dungeon was the first big boss update the game has ever received, introducing 4 new bosses alongside a ton of new and strong end-game drops. This is still true to this day as GWD remains an incredible source of money for any and all players. Players also have access to stronger weapons and armor nowadays so killing these once-tough bosses are a piece of cake now. Let’s take a look at 3 different methods of killing Kree’arra and making you bank!
As with everything Runescape, the more money you have the better you can do content and the more money you can make. You will see that the best ways to kill Kree’arra are always done with pretty expensive gear so if you want to skip the hurdle and immediately get your best-in-slots, you can check out our store!
Boss Information

Here are some general information about Kree’arra no matter which method you are going to use:
- Kree’arra can only be killed by Ranged or Magic because melee attacks can’t reach him.
- Kree’arra has 2 attacks; the Ranged attack can hit up to 71 and the Magic attack can hit up to 21 so you should always use protect against Ranged against this boss.
- If you don’t target Kree’arra, he will come up to you to use his melee attack that can hit up to 26.
- All the bodyguards and Kree’arra himself drop bones so you should always utilize bones to peaches tablets whenever you can to restore health for free.
- Kree’arra and all his bodyguards count as aviansies so you can use a Slayer helmet if you have the avianse task.
- You can use blood barrage to heal off of the bodyguards. To do this after killing the boss kill skree (mage minion). After that lure the melee minion on top of the ranged one and freeze them, step a tile back to avoid taking any damage at all from the minions with your protect from ranged, and start blood barraging the melee minion.

- You can either get 40 KC to access the boss or get ecumenical keys to skip this process.
DPS Method
This method will utilize the best Ranged accuracy and strength bonus that we can muster up to DPS down the boss before it can deal any significant damage to us. This method requires a good amount of starting cash for high-tier gear. There are two setups you can use for this method.
Bowfa Setup
- Head: Slayer helmet (i) / Crystal helm
- Neck: Necklace of anguish
- Cape: Dizana’s quiver / Ava’s assembler
- Body: Crystal body
- Legs: Crystal legs
- Weapon: Bow of faerdhinen
- Ammo: Holy blessing
- Gloves: Zaryte vambraces / Barrows gloves
- Boots: Pegasian boots / God d’hide boots (preferably arma)
- Ring: Venator ring
The accuracy and damage bonus from the crystal armor are great for this task, and if you can combine it with a slayer helmet it is even better! One downside to this are your defensive stats which are not that great. You can utilize the walk under method in the fight against Kree’arra to avoid taking unnecessary damage. To do this simply walk under her after every hit and only walk out when you can attack again. Tagging the true tile of this boss for this method is pretty useful.
Twisted Bow Setup
- Head: Slayer helmet (i) / Masori mask (f)
- Neck: Necklace of anguish
- Cape: Dizana’s quiver / Ava’s assembler
- Body: Masori body (f)
- Legs: Masori chaps (f)
- Weapon: Twisted bow
- Ammo: Dragon arrows
- Gloves: Zaryte vambraces / Barrows gloves
- Boots: Pegasian boots / God d’hide boots (preferably arma)
- Ring: Ring of suffering (ri) / Venator ring
This setup is the highest Ranged dps you can get against Kree’arra. You can use the ring of suffering instead of the Venator ring to get an even higher defensive bonus to stay longer since the twisted bow is already taking care of any ranged-related bonuses you need. Just as mentioned above, make sure that you are stepping under Kree’arra to avoid taking unnecessary damage whilst waiting for your weapon attack cycles.
Inventory Setup
Inventory setups are pretty important as a good inventory will make you stay for much longer in the boss's lair.
- Toxic blowpipe
- Blood ancient sceptre or any other staff that can auto-cast ancient magicks
- Occult necklace
- Crossbow and mithril grapple to get to the boss
- Rune pouch with: ice and blood barrage runes
- Trollheim teleport
- Bones to peaches tablets
- Ecumenical key (optional)
- Teleport to house
- 2 Bastion potions
- 8 Saradomin brews
- 8 Super restores
Let’s talk a bit about the inventory:
- Toxic blowpipe is there to kill the minions and for the special attack to restore health.
- Blood ancient sceptre and occult necklace will be used to life steal with blood barrage as explained in the beginning.
- You can bring 2 or more bastion potions depending on how confident you are.
- You can bring more super restores if you are confident in your survivability.
Mage Method
This is the best way to kill Kree’arra currently, surpassing any other method. Using this method, however, is very expensive as it only works with absolute max magic gear. Even a single downgrade will significantly mess up your kills since shadow multiplies your magic bonuses. If you utilize this method well you can stay at Kree’arra until you run out of weapon charges and runes. Key things to do:
- Since we are using Magic gear, you should always freeze the melee minion. This will eliminate the defensive weakness that we get from using Magic equipment.

- Since the shadow has a 5-tick attack cycle you should always walk under Kree’arra until that attack cycle ends to avoid taking unnecessary damage.
Gear Setup
- Head: Slayer helmet (i) / Ancestral hat
- Neck: Occult necklace
- Cape: Mage Arena 2 cape
- Body: Ancestral robe top
- Legs: Ancestral robe bottom
- Weapon: Tumuken’s shadow
- Shield: Elidnis’ ward (f)
- Ammo: Rada’s blessing 4
- Gloves: Tormented bracelet
- Boots: Eternal boots
- Ring: Lightbearer / Magus Ring
You can switch back and forth your rings depending on your special attack charge.
Inventory Setup
- Elidnis’ Ward (f)
- Eldritch nightmare staff
- Crossbow and mithril grapple
- Saturated heart
- Teleport to trollheim
- Teleport to house
- Rune pouch with: ice and blood barrage runes
- Ecumenical key (optional)
- Bones to peaches (optional, magic should be enough)
- 4 Saradomin brews
- 6 Super restores
- 10 Anglerfish
Chin Method

This setup is the most cost-effective method as you won’t need very expensive gear to utilize this method but obviously, if you have good gear this method also becomes better. This method takes advantage of the game's AOE damage mechanics to kill Kree’arra. Here is how you do it:
- Once you enter the boss room head over to any corner.
- Don’t attack the boss or the minions, this will make the boss come towards you.
- Once the boss and the melee minion stack on top of each other, start hitting the melee minion with your chins to damage the boss.
- This is important! After each chin throw make sure to click on Kree’arra and click back on the minion. This will make the boss think you are targeting him so he won’t use his melee attack on you.
- Most of the time the minion will die before Kree’arra does so once that happens we will switch back to our crossbow or blowpipe to hit Kree’arra.
- If you are using a budget setup, the minion will spawn back before you can finish off the boss so you can switch back to chins when that happens.
Gear Setup
As mentioned before you can use very cheap gear for this method so use whatever you have available (even black d’hide will work!).
- Head: Slayer helmet (i) / Masori mask (f)
- Neck: Necklace of anguish
- Cape: Max cape / Ranging cape (t)
- Body: Masori body (f)
- Legs: Masori chaps (f)
- Weapon: Black chinchompas
- Shield: Elysian spirit shield / Twisted buckler / Crystal shield
- Ammo: Depends on what you bring / Diamond dragon bolts (e)
- Gloves: Zaryte vambraces / Barrows gloves
- Boots: Pegasian boots / God d’hide boots (preferably arma)
- Ring: Ring of suffering (ri) / Venator ring
Inventory Setup
- Toxic blowpipe
- Blood ancient sceptre or any other staff that can auto-cast ancient magicks
- Occult necklace
- Dragon Crossbow or better and mithril grapple to get to the boss
- Rune pouch with: ice and blood barrage runes
- Trollheim teleport
- Teleport to house
- Bones to peaches tablets
- Ecumenical key (optional)
- 2 Bastion potions
- 6 Saradomin brews
- 10 Super restores
Use the methods mentioned above to sustain for a long period.
Tank Method

This method is the easiest one out of them all and is great for people who don’t want to pay that much attention to the game. Simply put, equip the gear mentioned below, enter the boss room, and click Kree’arra as simple as that.
Gear Setup
- Head: Slayer helmet (i) / Justiciar faceguard / Masori mask (f)
- Neck: Amulet of fury / Necklace of anguish
- Cape: Dizana’s quiver / Ava’s assembler
- Body: Masori body (f)
- Legs: Masori chaps (f)
- Weapon: Zaryte crossbow
- Shield: Elysian spirit shield / Dragonfire ward / Twisted buckler
- Ammo: Diamond dragon bolts (e)
- Gloves: Zaryte vambraces / Barrows gloves
- Boots: Pegasian boots / God d’hide boots (preferably arma)
- Ring: Ring of suffering (ri) / Venator ring
Inventory Setup
- Toxic blowpipe (optional)
- Blood ancient sceptre or any other staff that can auto-cast ancient magicks (optional)
- Occult necklace (optional)
- Mithril grapple to get to the boss
- Rune pouch with: ice and blood barrage runes (optional)
- Trollheim teleport
- Teleport to house
- Bones to peaches tablets (optional)
- Ecumenical key (optional)
- 3 Bastion potions
- 6 - 13 Saradomin brews
- 6 - 9 Super restores
If you are super lazy you can just bring 13 brews and 9 restores instead of the optional stuff or you can bring the optional stuff and use them to sustain just like before.
