World of Warcraft Halloween Events 2025
The Fight Begins: The Headless Horseman
As mentioned earlier, the yearly Hallow’s End event begins this Saturday, October 18, at 10 AM PST, and will end on November 1. During the event period, the Headless Horseman returns for you to defeat in spectacular fashion, and you can even do it daily if you are so motivated.

The Headless Horseman
If you want to take on The Headless Horseman, open the Dungeon Finder and queue up for the Graveyard Wing of Scarlet Monastery, located in Tirisfal Glades in the Eastern Kingdoms.
Now, there are a few important things to keep in mind, especially if you are new to the Hallow’s End event. The Headless Horseman is a five-man raid with three phases that happen at certain points in the fight. In each phase, the boss will recover a portion of his HP, so you have to be patient.
Although you can queue for this boss as early as level 10, I highly recommend that you only defeat it if you are level 45 (at the very least). This is so that you’re geared enough to deal considerable amounts of damage. Of course, you can rely on your party members to do the beating, but it’s still nice to contribute to the horseman’s demise.
In addition, The Headless Horseman spawns once daily, though each of your alts can queue up to defeat him. Speaking of which, you’ll be rewarded with a Loot-Filled Pumpkin, which is essentially a lootbox that contains some Halloween-themed goodies.
For instance, you can get the very cool mount called The Horseman’s Reins if you are lucky! Other cool items that you can get from the Loot-Filled Pumpkin include Arfus, Magic Broom, and the Hallowed Helm, among many others.

The Horseman’s Reins
Do you want to know the full list of items you can obtain from defeating The Headless Horseman and opening the Loot-Filled Pumpkin? If yes, you can refer to the table below:

Gain More Experience: The Wickerman

Wickerman
When WoW Hallow’s End commences on October 18, you will find the giant Wickerman outside of major strongholds, including Stormwind (Alliance) and Undercity (Horde). Every four hours, an event unfolds near the Wickerman, which will grant an hour-long buff that persists through death. These buffs are Decree of the Dark Lady for the Horde faction and Greymane’s Resolve for the Alliance.
In case you want to know what you’re going to get when the buffs are active, you gain a whopping increase in Mastery and Stamina by about 1,945 and 2,596 points, respectively. This should help you tackle the more difficult content in World of Warcraft, as Hallow’s End is ongoing!
On top of that, you can have another buff that lets you gain more experience and reputation by taking the ashes scattered around and burning them in the bonfire near the Wickerman. If you do this, you’ll get Unburdened (Alliance) or Grim Visage (Horde), which increases EXP and reputation gain by 10% for two hours.
I suggest that you get either Unburdened and Grim Visage because they will really help you accomplish the faction grind a bit faster. This is pretty helpful, especially considering this month’s Traveler’s Log reward.
Ward Off the Flames: The Shade of the Horseman

Extinguish the Flames in The Shade of the Horseman Event
So you have defeated The Headless Horseman, what should you do next? You might as well help the citizens extinguish the fires made by The Shade of the Horseman, and if you do, you’ll be rewarded handsomely for your efforts.
If you are a member of the Alliance, go to Kharanos, Goldshire, or Azure Watch. If you are part of the Horde, head directly to Brill, Falconwing Square, and Razor Hill. When you arrive in any of these places, you will find that some of the houses are burning.
Search for the matrons in each of the above-mentioned villages and talk to them. They will ask for your help in eliminating the Shade of the Horseman. Once defeated, a menacing Large Jack-o’-Lantern appears. Pick it up and surrender it to the matron to receive a Crudely Wrapped Gift.
Why is the Crudely Wrapped Gift special despite its ordinary exterior, you ask? It is extraordinary because it contains a lot of Halloween-themed goodies, such as:
| Item Name | Type | Notes |
| Weighted Jack-o’-Lantern | Helmet (Cosmetic) | Wear a pumpkin head when used. A true cosmetic fit for Halloween! |
| Handful of Treats | Consumable | Contains a bunch of goodies, including Tricky Treats, Chewy Fel Taffy, G.N.E.R.D.S., Hallowed Wands, and various masks. |
| Magic Broom | Flying Mount | Similar to the magical broom from the Loot-Filled Pumpkin. |
| Folded Letter | Consumable | Contains a heartfelt message inside. |

Drip Fit for the Halloween: October Traveler’s Log
Although not directly part of WoW Hallow’s End, this month’s Traveler’s Log is still worth mentioning in this article. Why? It contains Halloween-themed rewards when you complete various quests and requirements.
If you are so inclined, you can get the majestic Legion Forged Elekk mount simply by accomplishing the Traveler’s Log for October.

Legion Forged Elekk
How about the items that you can obtain by spending some Trader’s Tender? One of the highlights is The Headless Horseman’s Hallowed Charger, which you can get for 700 Trader’s Tender.

The Headless Horseman’s Hallowed Charger
Although The Headless Horseman’s Hallowed Charged that can be obtained from the Trading Post is only in yellow, there are a few other variants as well, including blue, green, and fiery orange.
Of course, an awesome steed should be paired with an equally cool-looking character, right? That is why you should also invest in The Horseman’s Hallowed Collection. This ensemble transmog can be yours for a not-so-cheap price of 600 Trader’s Tender.

WoW Classic Hallow's End Event 2025
Blizzard isn't forgetting WoW Classic players. Also running right now for WoW Classic is a Hallow's End event as well. Here's what you can do in the event:
Trick or Treating
You can talk to any Innkeeper in the game once every hour. Once the costumes come off, our TWW endgame to-do list keeps your weekly progression on track. Doing so will allow you to either be tricked or treated.
- Tricked - You'll be transformed into a frog, human ghost, kitten, Mini-Diablo, Skeleton, or snake for a short duration. You can't remove these transformations. If not that, you can also get a random Hallow's End wand that you can use on yourself. These costumes for the wand include bat, leper gnome, assassin, pirate, skeleton, or wisp.
- Treat - This is the better of the two options. Treat gets you assorted Hallow's End candy, Flimsy Masks, Hallowed Wands.
Unfortunately, what you get is entirely dependent on luck. There's no way to increase your chances of getting a Treat so try to talk to innkeepers as much as you can.
Apple Bobbing
Also within inns is a new apple boobing minigame. You simply have to click on an apple in a pool to get 5 Bobbing Apples for free. This is a free item that heals you gradually for 24 seconds. You can also get a Stamina and Spirit buff from the Apples as well.
Hallow's End Orphan Treats Questline
One of the major events you can get into in WoW Classic is a fun new quest that sees you traveling to major cities and performing certain actions to get candies from NPCs. You'll then need to give the candies to an Orphan. Each of the quests grant 100 Reputation for fall of your faction's major cities. You only need to be level 10 to start the questline.
Here's a quick little table to help you out with the quest:
Faction | Quest Name | Orphan NPC & Location | Task | Emote Command | NPC to Visit | City |
Alliance | Hallow's End Treats for Jesper! | Jesper – Stormwind Orphanage, Cathedral Square, Stormwind City | Flexing for Nougat | /flex | Innkeeper Allison | Stormwind |

Candy Vendors
You can be certain Hallow's End candy from two NPCs, Katrina Shimmerstart in Ironforge and Rachelle Gothena in Orgrimmar. You can get a special candy once you finish the orphan questline as well.
Wickerman Festival Quests
Most of your time will be spent doing the Wickerman Festival quests. The quests are available to Alliance and Horde players. If you're from the Alliance, you can start by talking to Sergeant Hartman in Southshore and for the Horde, it's Darkcaller Yanker in Tirisfal Glades.
The quests will net you Hallow's End Pumpkin Treats and of course, reputation for your major Alliance/Horde cities. The 20th Anniversary crates are live during the same window, and our Celebration Crates guide shows where to grab every one. Here's a quick guide for the quest:
Quest Type | Faction | Quest Name | Objective / Description | Location |
Stinkbomb Quest | Horde | Stinking Up Southshore | Throw stink bombs all over Southshore to spread the Hallow's End mischief. | Southshore |

WoW Hallow’s End Event 2025: Final Thoughts
Blizzard does not have anything particularly new in this year’s annual Halloween event in World of Warcraft, except for some cosmetic items and consumables. Hallow End is only the start of the holiday calendar, so here is what to expect from the Winter Veil 2025 event next. Be that as it may, I still recommend that you participate in the festivities because certain rewards are only exclusive to the Hallow’s End event.
Before the event begins, start leveling up your character to at least 40 (or somewhere close to that). By the time WoW Hallow’s End commences, immediately open up the Dungeon Finder, and queue for the Graveyard Wing to face The Headless Horseman. You’ll want to get the Loot-Filled Pumpkin to have a very high chance of obtaining The Horseman’s Reins on day one.
When the infamous five-man boss is eliminated, go directly to your faction’s stronghold to gain the buffs mentioned earlier. After that, head to key areas in Azeroth and finish the Shade of the Horseman quest line to receive the Crudely Wrapped Gift.
Once you have completed the main tasks for this event, visit the different inns in the game to acquire some candy treats. At this point, collect as many Tricky Treats as possible so that you can purchase some event-exclusive stuff, such as Naxxy the Battle Pet, the Heirloom Armor Casings, and the Exquisite Costume Sets, to name a few.
So, there you have it! You are all set for the Hallow’s End event in World of Warcraft this October 2025! What particular part of this annual affair are you particularly excited about? Share your thoughts in the comments!
