It’s amazing to believe that WoW is already 20 years old. And to celebrate this milestone, Blizzard is rolling out WoW The War Within celebration crates that contain rewards for all players of the game. If you want to find these, you’ve come to the right place.

Speaking of rewards, you might want to head on over to our RPGStash WoW store. We’ve got amazing deals on WoW gold better than any of the rewards you’ll get in the game. You’ll never be short on money ever again.

Crate #1: The Soggy Celebration Crate

Location: Zuldazar

To start, head to Zuldazar. If you’re a Horde player, ensure you’ve unlocked the portal by progressing through the campaign, which typically becomes available at level 35.

If you’re an Alliance player, access Zuldazar by completing the Battle for Azeroth (BFA) campaign, which opens up the necessary travel options.

Alternatively, you can use the following method shared by a player: fly to Ratchet in Northern Barrens, take the boat to Echo Isles, and continue to Zuldazar.

Once in Zuldazar, take the portal to the designated location. From here, head to the first waterfall you see. Dive into the water below, and you’ll find Gerald the clam. To interact with Gerald, you’ll need to purchase the Clam Digger tool from Ncto, a vendor nearby.

After acquiring the tool, open Gerald, and he’ll reward you with the soggy celebration crate. If this is your first time looting crates, you’ll also receive bronze celebration tokens.

Crate #2: The Hazy Celebration Crate

Location: Desolace

For Horde players, use the Thunder Bluff portal and fly to Desolace. Alliance players can teleport from Stormwind to Mount Hyjal and fly from there. Once you arrive, head to the specified location marked between two trees with bones nearby.

Here’s the tricky part: this crate is only visible in spirit form. Fly up and intentionally let your character die near the location.

Once in spirit form, navigate to the exact spot, where you’ll find the hazy celebration crate tucked away. This discovery was initially unintentional by Blizzard but solved by clever players analyzing screenshots.

Crate #3: The Dirt-Caked Celebration Crate

Location: Deadwind Pass

Start at your faction’s portal room. Alliance players should talk to the mage at the portal spire to teleport to the Dark Portal. Horde players can also use the Dark Portal to reach the area. From there, travel to Deadwind Pass, specifically near Karazhan.

Instead of entering the raid, head to a crypt nearby. Follow the path down into the Forgotten Crypt.

Once there, navigate to a water-filled area. Cross the water (water walking helps but isn’t required), and you’ll find the crate tucked into a corner. Accept the crate to mark this step complete.

Crate #4: The Sandy Celebration Crate

Location: Azsuna

This crate requires you to find a wandering merchant named Vashy. First, use the portal to Azsuna, which is part of Legion content. Both Horde and Alliance players can access this portal from their respective portal rooms.

Once in Azsuna, locate the merchant who roams a path marked on the map. He moves along this route, so you may need to search for him actively.

When you find him, use the Water Resistant Receipt of Sale (collected earlier in Thousand Needles) to purchase the sandy celebration crate for 500 gold.

Crate #5: The Battered Celebration Crate

Location: Howling Fjord

Take the portal to Dalaran, then fly to Howling Fjord. The fastest route is to fly to the Apothecary Camp flight path and head northeast to the cave’s entrance.

Inside the cave, you’ll find the battered celebration crate. It respawns quickly, so don’t worry if someone else gets it before you. Accept the crate to complete this step.

Crate #6: The Waterlogged Celebration Crate

Location: Middle of the Ocean

This crate is the furthest out. Travel to the designated waypoint in the ocean. Once there, dive down to find a small underwater house.

Avoid the malfunctioning elevator inside—it’s known to cause crashes. Instead, swim into the well-maintained house and look behind the bed. You’ll find the waterlogged celebration crate.

Crate #7: Char Celebration Crate

Step 1: Accept the Quest "A Legacy of Destruction"

To begin your journey, head to Toys and speak with Alex. Accept the quest titled "A Legacy of Destruction." In this quest, you'll learn about a troublesome dragon whelp causing chaos in the Pet Playground. Your task is to investigate and resolve the situation.

Step 2: Talk to the Voidfire Whelp

The Voidfire Whelp can be found nearby on the map. He’s angry and threatens to burn everything in his path. Your mission is to "Show Voidfire the destruction of Deathwing."

Be aware that there is a known bug where the reward display may incorrectly show 10 Bronze Celebration Tokens—the actual reward is only 5 tokens.

Step 3: Investigate Volcanic Destruction

The Voidfire Whelp wants to witness volcanic destruction in the Eastern Kingdoms. To proceed, talk to Maru, who advises you to head to the Burning Steppes.

Step 4: Navigate to the Burning Steppes

The route to the Burning Steppes varies depending on your faction:

  • Alliance: Travel from Stormwind or Ironforge.
  • Horde: Use the Blasted Lands portal or the Twilight Highlands portal to get closer.

The quest location in the Burning Steppes is marked as "From Ashes to Wisdom," and the coordinates will be provided in the description if you're using an addon for precise navigation.

Step 5: Use Spiritual Incense

Once you arrive in the Burning Steppes, click the Whelp Whistle to summon Voidfire. If you’re out of Spiritual Incense, you can purchase it from a vendor located near Maru in Taris.

After witnessing the volcanic destruction, Voidfire will mention the Badlands as a place to leave a lasting scar on the world.

Step 6: Travel to the Badlands

Next, fly northeast from the Burning Steppes to the Badlands. Summon Voidfire at the marked quest location. He will observe the damage left by Deathwing and consider the possibility of gaining followers to increase his strength.

Voidfire will then contemplate visiting the Twilight Highlands.

Step 7: Explore Twilight Highlands

Make your way to the Twilight Highlands, either by using a portal from Stormwind/Orgrimmar or flying from your current location. Once you arrive, summon Voidfire at the designated quest location above Victor’s Point.

He will learn that even followers or cultists may rebel, and he will propose exploring underwater destruction next.

Step 8: Head to Vashj’ir

Vashj’ir is an underwater zone, and you can access it via the portal in your faction’s main city or by flying from your current location if the portal isn’t unlocked.

If you’re traveling without an underwater mount or breathing potions, be cautious of drowning. Players with Undead or Warlock traits may have some advantages here.

Step 9: Summon Voidfire in Vashj’ir

In Vashj’ir, Voidfire will reflect on the destruction caused by Deathwing. He will realize that this kind of destruction isn’t as appealing as it once seemed, and instead, he decides to grow stronger in other ways.

Step 10: Locate the Burnt Ransom Note

After completing the "From Ashes to Wisdom" step, you will receive the Burnt Ransom Note. The note contains a clue:

"Where the ancient trees stand proud and tall,
Be careful not to fall.
To save small friends from an imminent demise,
The method you use may be a surprise."

Step 11: Find the Secret Crate in Mount Hyjal

Travel to Mount Hyjal using the portal from your main city or flying manually. The crate location will be marked with coordinates in the video description. When you arrive, you will find the Char Celebration Crate—Crate #7 in the series.

Step 12: Turn in the Crate

Finally, return to Alex in Nerys and hand in the Char Celebration Crate. Completing this step will progress your questline for the secret crates.

Crate #8: Crate Location

To find Crate 8, start by deciphering the clue from the ransom note:

"Take a trek from the molten peak to where rain retreats, then from where the groves whisper to a hold of timber. Now, embark on an old feather moon and retrace your steps to find your stolen traits."

The journey begins in Ashenvale. If you’re not already in the area, you can use a teleport to Mount Hyjal from your main city, such as Stormwind or Orgrimmar, and then travel south into Ashenvale.

Crate_8_location_in_Ashenvale

The exact spot you'll need to reach is marked on the map and described in the video linked to this guide. Once you’ve arrived, head behind Lord Magmar and prepare to use the Potion of Truth.

The Potion of Truth is essential for this quest. Once consumed, it grants you a 30-minute buff that allows you to locate the crate. Keep in mind that the buff will disappear if you teleport or leave the area, so plan your route carefully before activating it.

With the potion active, your next destination is Feralas. Make your way there without delays to ensure the buff remains intact.

In Feralas, head to the specified waypoint provided in the video description. The crate, known as the Mildew Celebration Crate, will only be visible with the Potion of Truth buff.

It’s tucked away at this location, so be sure to click on it to complete this part of the quest. Once collected, return to Alex at Nerys to turn in the crate and finish the objective.

This step in the crate questline is straightforward but requires careful planning to maintain the potion’s buff. Be sure to avoid unnecessary detours or teleporting to avoid losing your progress. Once the crate is handed in, you’ll be one step closer to completing the full series.

Crate #9: Crystallized Celebration Crate

This crate is tied to a clue found in a shiny ransom note in Tenere. While the note adds some lore, it isn’t required to collect the crate. Here’s the clue for context:

"Cross the plains where Orcs would wander; a peculiar site will make you ponder. A crystal mound has made its home where ancient spirits forever roam."

The location described in the clue points us to a place called Ugon, found in the Nrad region near Shattrath. If you’re unfamiliar with the area, don’t worry—this crystal mound is massive and easy to spot.

It’s a stunning, glowing structure that stands out from the surroundings. Use the map in the video description to guide you to the exact spot.

Once you arrive at Ugon, head inside the crystal mound. You’ll encounter some mobs along the way, but most are lower level and shouldn’t pose a challenge if you’ve out-leveled them.

Navigate through the interior, sticking primarily to the left side as you descend deeper into the structure. Eventually, you’ll reach a lower chamber where the Crystallized Celebration Crate is located.

Interact with the crate to collect it. The description notes that it’s sealed tightly and would be of great use to Alex. Now that you’ve secured the crate, return to Tanys to complete the objective and claim your reward: five bronze celebration tokens.

Crate #10: Surprisingly Pristine Celebration Crate

To begin, head to Tenaris. Most of us use the Tenaris teleport to get there these days. From Tenaris, fly to Anage, which is one of WoW’s classic OG raid locations. It’s worth visiting if you’ve never run it solo—it’s a blast!

Once you arrive, locate a cave on the backside of Anage. It can be easy to miss if you’re unfamiliar with the area, so check the map in the video description to pinpoint the exact location.

Inside the cave, you’ll notice a pack of dogs wandering around. The key here is to summon a dog pet of your own—any alive pet will do. We used the Perky Pug, which worked perfectly.

The summoned dog will sniff out Mysterious Bones, remnants of a misplaced vile. Once your pet digs up the bones, you’ll need to collect them and prepare for the next step.

From here, head to Stormheim, located in the Legion zones. The quickest way to get there is via the portal to Azsuna. Once in Azsuna, take a flight path or fly directly to Stormheim, aiming for the waypoint marked on your map.

The final destination is a grave in Stormheim, a cool and atmospheric spot if it’s been a while since your last visit.

At the grave, use the Mysterious Bones to perform a burial. Completing this step will reward you with the Surprisingly Pristine Celebration Crate. Once you’ve claimed the crate, all that’s left is to return it to Alex outside the Caverns of Time.

Crate #11: Ghostly Celebration Crate

To start, head to Maldraxxus in the Shadowlands. First, take the Timeways Portal in Dalaran to reach the Shadowlands. This portal is located in the large teleport room in Dalaran and will drop you in Ardenweald at the Mist of Tirna. From there, fly or take a flight path to Maldraxxus.

Timeways_Portal_in_Dalaran_to_Shadowlands

If the portal isn’t an option, you can also buy a Shadowlands wormhole generator from the Auction House (around 20,000 gold on my server), or join the Secret-Finding Discord to organize a summon from friends near the Theater of Pain in Maldraxxus.

For those in Horde or Alliance capitals, you can teleport to Oribos using your faction’s mage portals and make your way to Maldraxxus from there.

Once in Maldraxxus, your destination is the Seat of the Primus, a massive and unmistakable statue in the zone. Head toward the top of the structure near the portal area. There, you’ll find the Ghostly Celebration Crate waiting for you. This crate is the final piece of the puzzle!

Once you’ve collected the crate, return it to Alex at the Caverns of Time in Tanaris to complete the quest. Turning in the Ghostly Celebration Crate earns you the achievement No Crate Left Behind, which signifies you’ve found and returned all 11 crates.

While there doesn’t seem to be a new title for completing this, you’ll retain the “Detective” title from earlier guest relations content—a cool badge of honor.
