Diablo 4 Season 3: Everything We Know So Far

If you're done with the second season of Diablo 4, then you don't need to wait for long before getting your hands on the game again. Blizzard is gearing up to release the next season pretty soon and it's up to you whether or not you have to prepare for it.

That said, there are not a lot of details about the upcoming season yet. However, we've found a few solid sources that reveal what you can expect from Diablo 4 Season 3.

Diablo 4 Season 3 Release Date

Blizzard is yet to reveal when Season 3 will be released but if we're going to look at the previous content plan for the game, we'll have an idea of when the release date will be. In previous seasons, the new one after the previous one ended.

As Season 2 will end on January 23, 2024, it's safe to say that this is the release date for Season 3 as well. The only way this release date will be moved is if Blizzard extends the current season which for now, seems unlikely.

What To Expect In Diablo 4 Season 3

Like the release date, Blizzard has been tight-lipped about what's fully coming in Season 3. However, they're previous content plan shows what we can expect from the new season. This isn't all that we're getting but it's a good idea of what's already guaranteed for the upcoming season of the game.

1. The Gauntlet

The next season of Diablo 4 is set to have a beloved feature from Diablo 3. It's confirmed that we're getting this new feature this season.

In Diablo 3, there's a notable endgame element known as Challenge Rifts. These are weekly activities where you step into a predetermined dungeon, equipped with a predefined character boasting a specific class, skill set, and unalterable items. Your objective is to swiftly conquer all adversaries. Now, for Season 3 of Diablo 4, this concept is evolving into a fresh feature called The Gauntlet.

Unlike Challenge Rifts, The Gauntlet hints at the exciting prospect of guiding your own character through weekly challenges, maintaining a parallel structure. It involves a distinctive weekly endgame challenge dungeon with the primary aim of vanquishing all foes faster than your fellow players. The competition unfolds on leaderboards tailored for each class, along with unique rankings for hardcore characters and those daring the challenge solo.

Access to The Gauntlet opens up after reaching World Tier 4, but characters need not be at level 100 to tackle the dungeon. Every Gauntlet dungeon adheres to a fixed seed, offering a non-linear experience. This implies that monster types and locations, the dungeon's map and layout, and all affixes remain consistent for all players throughout the week. Multiple runs are permitted. Loot becomes available only after the timer expires, emphasizing the focus on defeating enemies rather than collecting items. The highest-scoring players will be showcased on special leaderboards featuring the top 1,000 participants, resetting weekly. The elite top 10 players each week secure a permanent spot in the Hall of the Ancients.

For games like Diablo 4, where the demand for compelling endgame content is constant, The Gauntlet serves as a new weekly challenge. It provides players with a fresh objective to strive for while honing their skills in this unique dungeon. While Challenge Rifts were well-received in Diablo 3, a common gripe was the inability to employ personal characters for attempts.

2. New Character Progression Feature

Each season of Diablo 4 so far has added new progression features that players can use to further elevate their characters in the game. Season 1 used the Malignant Hearts, while the current season is focused on Vampiric Powers. It's safe to say that we can expect the same when the new season arrives.

The character progression features are expected to give us more reason to play through the game and to create powerful new builds. With that said, we can expect a season reveal trailer, as well as a look at the new features within the coming dates or weeks before January 23.

3. Class Tweaks

This isn't confirmed but expect a lot of changes to each of the classes in the game. Blizzard often makes tweaks to classes in the form of buffs or nerfs to make way for the new progression feature in the game. They try to avoid creating OP builds so they act fast in making adjustments to our favorite classes when needed.

4. New Story Content, Dungeons, Bosses, And More

As with the past seasons, we've seen a slew of new content to supplement progression in the game. We can expect to see the same for Season 3. There's bound to be new story content that focuses on the theme of the next season. You can also expect new challenges in the form of harder dungeons, bosses, and events.

Blizzard has teased an expansion of the game set to release this year. There's a chance that the next season will introduce or further tease what's to come with the upcoming expansion. Hopefully, we get to see more of it soon.

How To Prepare For Diablo 4 Season 3

Whether you're a new player or someone who's been around the previous seasons, you need to know how to prepare for Diablo 4 Season 3. That way, it will be smooth sailing for you when the wave of new content finally releases.

Finish The Campaign

If you're new to the game, your primary focus should be on completing the campaign initially. The campaign typically takes approximately 35 hours without delving into side quests. If you've been actively engaged in the game since its launch, chances are you've already navigated through Lilith's challenges. The campaign not only provides an immersive experience but also aids in elevating your character's level to 50.

By successfully conquering the campaign, you unlock a valuable perk - the ability to skip the entire campaign when creating new characters, including those designated for the current season. This streamlined approach allows you to dive straight into the upcoming season's new story quest, offering a chance to focus more intently on character development and grinding.

In essence, completing the campaign serves as a strategic investment, affording you the convenience of swift character creation in subsequent playthroughs and enabling a seamless transition to the next season's narrative. This way, you can efficiently channel your efforts towards the exciting challenges and rewards that await in the evolving gameplay landscape.

Explore All Of Sanctuary

When it comes to exploration, it's crucial to thoroughly traverse every corner of the map and unlock all waypoints before the next season kicks off.

In the past, map progress didn't persist across different characters, necessitating a re-exploration of Sanctuary with each new class. However, the latest season brings a significant enhancement - your exploration progress now carries over not only between your characters but also extends to your seasonal characters. This streamlined approach makes exploration substantially more convenient.

Prioritize unlocking all waypoints as your first task. This ensures effortless fast-travel to different parts of the map, granting you the flexibility to navigate Sanctuary efficiently. To assist you in this endeavor, here's a handy guide pinpointing the locations of all waypoints. Take advantage of this opportunity to build a comprehensive map foundation that will serve you well across various characters and seamlessly integrate into the evolving landscape of each new season.

Maximize Your Renown As Much As You Can

Implementing this strategy can provide a substantial advantage to your upcoming characters. Achieving at least level 3 Renown rewards in all regions will secure 5 potion slots and more than 10 skill points for every character in your arsenal.

Your seasonal characters will commence their journey with these bonuses, coupled with the advantages gained from the Altar of Lilith bonuses, facilitating a swift progression through early XP farms. To enhance your rewards, focus on unlocking waypoints, gathering Altars of Lilith, completing side quests, conquering dungeons, and demolishing Strongholds.

While the process may seem laborious, ensuring the completion of all altars, Strongholds, waypoints, and comprehensive map exploration should suffice to attain the coveted level 3 rewards. It's worth noting that level 4 and 5 rewards become accessible exclusively on World Tier 3 and beyond. Reaching level 5 unlocks a remarkable 4 Paragon points per region, totaling an impressive 20 points, solidifying your character's prowess and contributing significantly to their overall strength.

Only Just A Few More Days

The release of Diablo 4 Season 3 shouldn't be too long now. There are lots of time to prepare for new players. If you're one of those just waiting for the new season so that you can finally start playing more of Diablo 4, you should be happy to know that there are only a few more days left before the game launches.
