How To Charm Gertrude - OSRS Trailblazer Reloaded

If you're like many of the players in OSRS right now, you're probably busy with doing all of the Trailblazer Reloaded League tasks. One of the tasks that awards you with 10 points wants you to "charm Gertrude." Those who haven't spoken to the NPC yet might be confused as to what this really means. Lucky for you, we're here to lend a helping hand.

Who Is Gertrude?

Gertrude Fairweather is a woman residing in a house just west of Varrock. She serves as the starting point for both the Gertrude's Cat and Ratcatchers quests. Furthermore, after your cat has reached the Overgrown stage, you have the option to purchase kittens from her for 100 coins each. It's important to note that you can only have one kitten at a time. If you already have a normal cat in your inventory or bank, Gertrude won't provide you with another kitten.

How To Charm Gertrude?

When you store your normal cats in your Player-Owned House (POH), Gertrude will sell you a new kitten. The color of the kitten is randomly assigned unless you have an activated ring of charos. With the ring of charos, you can charm Gertrude into allowing you to choose the color of the kitten. Completing this action for the first time will fulfill a medium Varrock Diary task.

The ring of Charos is a magical ring known for charming certain NPCs when worn, unlocking unique dialogue options and providing various benefits. Its creator, Charos, utilized the ring to enhance his diplomatic skills, persuading those who were susceptible to follow his commands. According to the Wise Old Man, the ring's effectiveness relies on the user already possessing some diplomatic skill.

This ring is obtained as a reward from the Creature of Fenkenstrain quest. Through the Garden of Tranquillity quest, it undergoes activation, becoming a more potent version known as the ring of Charos(a), with enhanced abilities.

It's important to note that the ring is lost upon death. However, if lost, it can be recovered by pickpocketing Dr Fenkenstrain on the top floor of Fenkenstrain's Castle or in the basement of the Harmony Island windmill after initiating The Great Brain Robbery quest.

Charm Your Way Into Completing A New Task

Once charmed, you'll immediately complete the task. This is fairly simple compared to the harder task in the game but if you haven't acquired an activated ring of Charos yet, you'll have to do a bit of grinding to get the item.
