Treachery is an extremely powerful utility armor that can be used in a variety of different situations. Although it is excellent on an Assassin, the +45% IAS on it is very valuable for all builds that rely on attack speed breakpoints. It is generally the best option for these characters before Enigma or Fortitude become available. This is the second highest IAS bonus found on body armors (behind a 4-socket armor with 15 IAS jewels).
The other major bonus that Treachery provides is the 5% Chance to Cast Level 15 Fade which is an incredible addition for non-assassins. Level 15 Fade grants +60 All Resistances, +15% Physical Damage Reduction and 79% Reduced Curse Duration with a duration of 288 seconds (just under 5 minutes). These bonuses in combination with the IAS make Treachery the best mercenary armor when running zones such as the Chaos Sanctuary and the Throne of Destruction. Treachery will provide better survivability than Fortitude once Fade has procced and the Reduced Curse Duration is essential for getting rid of Decrepify as quickly as possible.
Treachery is often used as a Prebuff option for Uber Tristram. Players will usually equip Treachery and stand in a fire until Fade procs, then return to town and replace Treachery with a different armor (Lionheart, Smoke etc.) in order to stack resistances.
