Untradable items are some of the most important upgrades you can get in Old School RuneScape. They don’t just boost stats; they permanently improve how your account plays, saving time, money, and effort across PvM, skilling, and general quality of life. In this guide, we’ll break down the most useful untradables in OSRS and rank them based on how impactful they actually are, helping you figure out which ones are truly worth prioritising as your account progresses.

Untradable items can take a while to obtain. If you want to skip the long grinds and just enjoy the game, you can hire our specialist to do them for you by checking out our OSRS Services!

Why Untradables Matter in OSRS?

Untradable items are essentially permanent account upgrades that support you throughout your Old School RuneScape journey. OSRS has a wide range of untradables that benefit nearly every type of content. Whether it’s Void gear letting you tackle end-game PvM without heavy gear costs, a Herb sack making Slayer tasks far more AFK-friendly, or ornament kits reducing death coffer fees and saving you millions, untradables play a huge role. Simply put, they’re a core part of long-term account progression in OSRS.

Best Early Game Untradables

Graceful Set

Graceful set

This set is a must-have for any account starting their journey. It is a huge quality of life upgrade, and the pain of not owning this set is far greater than anything else in this guide.

How to Get It?

Getting this set is pretty straightforward; you just have to do a bunch of rooftop Agility and collect marks of grace. After collecting 260 of them, you can head to the Rogues’ Den located under the Burthorpe pub and buy the entire outfit.

Main Uses

Equipping the full set reduces your character's weight by 25kg and restores run energy 30% faster. This is huge for any activity that involves running, like quests, farm runs, runecrafting, etc. It is a universally loved great quality of life upgrade that cuts down travel time in the early game and the usage of stamina potions.

Ardougne Cloak

Ardougne cloak

Another great item that any account should get within the first few days.

How to Get It?

This cloak is a reward for completing the Ardougne diary. There are 4 tiers, from easy to elite, but for a fresh account easy Ardougne cape will do more than just fine.

Main Uses

The main early-game advantage of this cape is its free teleport to the Ardougne Monastery. Early game accounts have very limited access to Ardougne, and this teleport completely solves that issue. It also places you next to an altar for easy prayer restoration, with a fairy ring located nearby for even more convenient travel options, and gives decent stat bonuses.

Ava’s Device

Ava’s device

How to Get It?

This item is a reward from the quest Animal magnetism. There are two variants you can get after the quest. The first attractor variant requires level 30 Ranged, and the second accumulator variant requires level 50.

Main Uses

This item is a must-have for any account, since it recovers the ammunition you use with Ranged weapons. Not having this simple item will cost you a fortune in the long run as you continuously lose your expensive ammo. This item also provides great offensive ranging bonuses.

Dramen Staff

Dramen staff

How to Get It?

Dramen staff is obtained during the quest Lost City.

Main Uses

This staff is used for accessing the lost city Zanaris, but the power of this staff unlocks after starting the Fairytale 2 - Cure a Queen quest. Doing so will allow this amulet to have 20% accuracy and damage boost against all undead, in all styles.

The easiest way to obtain this item is by spending around 8M coins. While that may not sound like much, early-game accounts often struggle to earn their first 8M. If you want to kick-start your playthrough with powerful upgrades like this, you can buy safe and secure gold from our OSRS store.

How to Get It?
