Old School RuneScape has gone through rapid changes in recent years. With the addition of new bosses, items, skilling activities, and, most recently, an entirely new skill, the game has entered a new era and attracted a wave of new players. Alongside this new content came powerful money-making methods that have overshadowed many older ones. In this guide, we’ll break down the current kings of money-making for casual play, mid- and high-level PvM, and skilling.

Most Profitable Combat Money Makers in OSRS New Era

Mid Game Money Makers

Hueycoatl

Hueycoatl Boss OSRS

Hueycoatl is one of the newly added mid-game bosses. This boss can be soloed or killed in a group and can be located in Varlamore. The only hard requirement for this boss is the completion of the quest Children of the Sun. It is a fairly simple boss with two phases. To kill the boss, it is recommended to have:

  • Level 80+ Attack
  • Level 90+ Strength
  • Level 70 Prayer for Piety
  • Level 76 Magic for thralls

This boss is weak to crush attacks, so any weaponry that can deal crush damage is recommended. If you are looking for a comprehensive guide, you can check out our OSRS Ultimate Hueycoatl Boss Guide.

The main rewards from this boss are the Hueycoatl Hide, Tome of Earth, and Dragon Hunter Wand. If you can kill this boss efficiently as a solo player, you are looking to make around 2M gold per hour.

Moons of Peril

Moons of Peril OSRS

Moons of Peril is the new Barrows, completely replacing the mid-game grind path. Just like the Hueycoatl, this content is located in Varlamore and requires the completion of the quest Perilous Moons. In this content, the player is required to kill 3 different bosses and loot a chest at the end for some rewards. The best part about all of this is that there are areas that allow the player to get food and potions for free, so any profit you make here is pure profit. Recommended stats are:

  • 70+ Attack
  • 70+ Strength
  • 70+ Defence
  • 70+ Prayer
  • 20+ Hunter
  • 30+ Cooking
  • 38+ Herblore
  • If you are looking to have the most efficient trips, 50+ in Hunter, Cooking, and Herblore is highly recommended.

For equipment, you don’t need much, as a zombie axe combined with dragon armor is more than enough to defeat all three bosses. If you want a full money-making guide on the moons, you can check out our OSRS Moons of Peril Boss Guide.

With average gear and average mid-level stats, you are looking to make around 2M gold per hour from this content. Most of this profit will come from the newly added level 50 armour sets, which have offensive stats that can rival Bandos.

Royal Titans

Royal Titans OSRS

Royal Titans is yet another brand new mid-level content that can be done both as a solo player or in groups of two. These two bosses can be found inside the Asgarnian Ice Dungeon, so no quest is required for this one. They are fairly easy to kill if you have at least level 70 in combat stats. The most important stat is magic, which is recommended for you to have at least level 75 for wave spells. We have a full boss encounter guide for Royal Titans if you are looking to do this content.

The main reward from the titans is the new best mid-game staff, the Twinflame staff. At the end of the encounter, you can choose to loot either the fire queen or the ice king, which will have similar but slightly different drop tables. Currently, looting the fire queen will result in 2.2M gold per hour, while looting the ice king will result in 2.3M gold per hour.

Killing Lower Level Wilderness Bosses

Lower Level Wilderness Bosses OSRS

Wilderness bosses received a rework a few years ago, which made them extremely profitable and much easier to kill. Furthermore, this update also brought lower-level variants of these Wilderness bosses called Artio, Spindel, and Calvar’ion. These low-level variants pose little to no challenge to the player while being profitable. You can be a combat level 60 and still kill these bosses.

For Artio, it is recommended to have:

  • Level 75+ Ranged
  • Level 79 Magic
  • Level 43 Prayer

For Calvari’on:

  • 60+ Attack and Strength
  • 43+ Prayer

For Spindel:

  • 80+ Attack and Strength
  • 70+ Prayer

These bosses drop a lot of great supplies alongside Wilderness weapon upgrades, Wilderness rings, dragon pickaxes, and most importantly, pieces of voidwaker. You can expect to make the following from each boss:

  • Artio: 2M gold per hour
  • Calvar’ion: 1.7M gold per hour
  • Spindel: 3.3M gold per hour

Profitable Slayer Tasks

Frost Dragons

Frost Dragons OSRS Boss

With the release of Sailing came one of the most profitable Slayer encounters in the game. To kill Frost Dragons, you must first have level 87 Sailing to access the island where they reside. These monsters are the main source of dragon sheets and dragon nails, which are used to make the end-game ships. To kill these monsters effectively, you would want to have a high magic level alongside a dragonhunter wand with the best fire spell you can use. If you have max magic, you can even kill these monsters in three hits.

These monsters can be slain both off and on task but the drop rates are much higher if you are on task.

  • On-task: 4M gold per hour
  • Off-task: 2.2M gold per hour

Demonic Gorillas

Demonic gorillas are not necessarily a new piece of content, but they are extremely profitable right now because of the upgrades Zenyte jewellery has been receiving. You can now upgrade the torture amulet to a rancour and tormented bracelet to confliction gauntlets. There is no doubt that we will get an update that will put an upgrade to the necklace of anguish as well, so these monsters will be profitable to farm for the foreseeable future. To kill these monsters effectively, you would want to have:

  • Level 80+ attack
  • Level 80+ Strength
  • Level 80+ Defence
  • Level 70+ Magic
  • Level 70+ Prayer
  • Level 69 Slayer

You will also be required to complete the quest, Monkey Madness 2. With the current rates, you are looking to make around 6M gold per hour farming these creatures.

Araxxor

Araxxor Boss OSRS

Araxxor is a newly added level 92 Slayer boss. Since it is a Slayer boss, it is much easier to kill than a regular boss. You can only farm this boss on task, and you are recommended to have the following stats for farming it effectively:

  • Level 80+ Attack
  • Level 90+ Strength
  • Level 80+ Defence
  • Level 86+ Ranged
  • Level 80+ Magic
  • Level 70+ Prayer
  • Level 92 Slayer

From this boss, you can get 3 different pieces to craft the brand new Noxious Halberd and a fang to craft the new Amulet of Rancour. With efficient farming methods, you can expect to get around 5.5M gold per hour from this boss.

Endgame Bosses

The monsters below require end-game accounts and gear to effectively farm, which can take thousands of hours to grind out yourself. If you want to skip the annoying grinds and jump straight into action, you can check out our OSRS Store to satisfy your OSRS gold or account needs.

Doom of Mokhaiotl

Doom of Mokhaiotl Boss OSRS

The latest end-game boss, Doom, is the most profitable money-making method in the entire game. This boss works a little differently from others. Whenever you kill the boss, you will have the option to loot the boss and leave or delve deeper to fight the boss again for additional loot. The boss progressively gets stronger as you delve deeper, and the rewards get better and better. To farm this boss effectively you would want to have:

  • Level 90+ Ranged
  • Level 70+ Defence
  • Level 80+ Magic
  • Level 77+ Prayer

For more information on strategies and gear choices for this boss, you can check out our OSRS Doom of Mokhaiotl Guide.

This boss drops the new best-in-slot boots, Avernic Treads. The new best one-handed charged staff, Eye of Ayak, and the material to create the new best-in-slot magic gloves, mokhaiotl cloth. Given these amazing rewards, it is no surprise that you can expect to make:

  • Delve 1-16 completion: 23M gold per hour
  • Delve 1-8 Completion: 15.5M gold per hour

If you are an absolute unit and you can go even further than 16 without making mistakes, you will be making even more money.

Yama

Yama is one of those end-game bosses that can be farmed over and over again once you get used to its attack patterns. This boss is designed to be a duo boss, meaning you should find a partner, as the profits are halved if you are soloing it. To kill this boss, you must first complete the quest A Kingdom Divided and have the following recommended stats:

  • 99 Magic
  • 99 Hitpoints
  • 77+ Prayer
  • 75+ Defence

To have the best profits, you first want to buy some contracts of shard acquisitions from the Grand Exchange. This will make the fight much harder, but it guarantees 45 oathplate shards per kill, which are used for smithing the new oathplate armour set.

If you can manage to pull off efficient kills, you can get:

  • Duo: 19M gold per hour
  • Solo: 8M gold per hour

Fortis Colosseum

Fortis Colosseum

Fortis Colosseum is the Inferno of Varlamore, where the player is required to go through 12 waves of monsters and face off against the final boss, Sol-Heredit. Each wave will give loot to the player, but the player must choose between taking the loot and going further on with the waves for more loot. For this method, it is recommended to have all your combat stats as close to 99 as possible, alongside good gear in all combat styles.

This money-making method requires the player to complete all 12 waves over and over again in an efficient manner. If done so, the player can expect to make around 7.4M gold per hour. This is due to the many unique rewards that can be obtained from the Colosseum, but most importantly, the player is guaranteed a Dizana’s quiver at the end of the 12th wave, which can be exchanged for 4000 sunfire splinters.

Skilling & Non-Combat Money Making Methods

Cutting Raw Marlin

Cutting Raw Marlin

This is a brand new method that came along with the introduction of Sailing. Marlin is the new best healing food that can be caught via deep-sea trawling. If you cut this fish instead of cooking it, you can get marlin scales and fine fish offcuts. The scales are used for creating the new extended stamina potions, which makes them profitable. For this method, you will need a boat with a chum station.

  • Regular chum station requiring level 56 Sailing and 45 Construction.
  • Advanced chum station requiring level 68 Sailing and 61 Construction.
  • Chum spreader requiring level 82 Sailing and 74 Construction.

These facilities will allow you to cut fish faster. The chum spreader can cut 4 marlins in 1 tick, the chum station can cut 2 per tick, and the advanced chum station can cut 3 per tick. With a chum spreader, parking your boat near the bank boat, you can cut 11,000 Marlins per hour. Which will profit you 3M gold per hour.

Crafting Sunfire Runes

This is an endgame money-making method with some hefty requirements.

  • Children of the Sun quest completed.
  • Desert Treasure 2 started.
  • Level 98 Runecrafting
  • Full Raiments of the Eye set
  • Colossal Pouch.
  • A Quetzal Whistle.
  • A quick banking method, like the Crafting cape.
  • A starting capital for buying twisted extracts.

To use the twisted extracts, you must complete Desert Treasure 2 until the part where you gain access to the scar essence mine. Going back and forth from a bank to the shrine of Ralos to craft sunfire runes takes around 60 seconds, which allows you to make 3.6M gold per hour.

Deep Sea Trawling

Deep Sea Trawling

Deep-sea trawling is the new fishing activity that utilises the player-owned boats from Sailing. You will need a fully decked-out boat to effectively participate in this activity. We have an in-depth Deep Sea Trawling Guide that explains everything from ships to fish mechanics, if you are interested in a full breakdown. You will need high Construction, Fishing and Sailing levels to effectively catch said fish.

The two most profitable fish to catch are marlins and halibuts. You can expect to make around 3.3M gold if you are catching Marlins, and 2M gold if you are catching halibuts.

Growing Coral

This is a recurring money-maker, meaning you just need to set it up and check it every once in a while. Corals are the new farming plants that you can grow underwater. You can start doing this method as early as 28 Farming, but 77 Farming is recommended for the best profits. You will need to have completed the quest Troubled Tortugans to access the coral nurseries. Once there, you can plant your elkhorn, pillar, or umbral corals and come back 160 minutes later to reset.

With level 77 Farming, you can expect to make around 400k per run.

FAQs

What is the best money maker in OSRS New Era?

They are more profitable than ever because of Sailing. This is the first time in the history of OSRS that fishing, mining, smithing, and woodcutting are this profitable.

How much GP per hour is realistic?

For an average player, making 3-5M gold per hour is realistic. For an experienced player, making 7-20M gold per hour is realistic.
