How to Build a Zerker

What is a Zerker and why Should you Build one ?

Zerker is an account build that specialises on dealing high damage while having relatively low defence, which makes it a glass cannon type build. The main difference between zerkers and lower level glass cannon builds like pures is the fact that zerkers can make use of power items that provide strength bonus which in turn lets them deal higher damage and they also have access to a spell called vengeance which you can’t get without having your defence level up. It’s one of the more popular builds because of these reasons. A maxed zerker account will end up at combat level 99 and will be able to fight pures, other zerkers and med level builds.

Overview

This part of the guide is going to provide you with all the essential information to build your own maxed zerker. If you have a good understanding of the game and know what you are doing, this small part will be enough. If not, a more detailed version will be in the next heading.

Stats

Stats are what makes a build, a build. Here are the stats for a max zerker:

  • 90+ Hitpoints
  • 99 Strength
  • 60 & 75 Attack
  • 45 Def ( IMPORTANT train after completing all the quests )
  • 55 Prayer
  • 99 Ranged
  • 94 or 99 Magic ( 94 is fine )

As mentioned in the list you should complete all the zerker quests before training defence, depending on the quests you choose to complete it will end up at level 45. 60 or 75 attack is a choice one becomes a 60 attack zerker other a 75 attack. The 75 attack version can use godswords, elder maul, blessed ss and some high tier magic staffs while the 60 attack version can only use dragon claws or any other dragon weaponry. One advantage of the 60 attack version is that you will be combat level 94 instead of 99. You might be wondering if that makes a difference or not and yes it does. The lower your combat level the higher the chance that you are going to find favourable matchups. A pure might not want to fight a maxed zerker but will be more willing to fight a level 94. This is all optional and mostly psychological so I still recommend creating a 75 attack version.

As for magic you can stop training it after you achieve level 94 since you can cast vengeance and ice barrage at that level however if you want to go bridging with this account or if you want to rush with mage to melee I recommend getting 99 magic.

Quests

I will only mention the essential quests and provide a wiki link for each of them. What I recommend doing is to open these big quests and go to the requirements section to find the required quests and open them in new tabs to finish them one by one. Again a more detailed quest list will be down below. ( Runelite and quest helper plugin is recommended for completing quests efficiently. )

Main Quests:

Mini Quests & Games:

  • Barbarian Assault - For Fighter Torso
  • Fight Caves & Inferno - For Fire Cape & Infernal Cape ( Whichever you can do )
  • Mage Arena 1 & 2 - For Mage Arena Cape
  • Pest Control - For full Void
  • Warrior’s Guild - For Rune Defender

With these you basically have all the non tradables and spells in your possession to start pking in the most optimised way.

Step by Step Building a Zerker

From a fresh account here is what you should start doing: ( Always prioritise doing quests and level up manually after, if there is quest you can’t do, level up just enough to do it. )

  1. First thing is to level up your accounts stats fast. To do this we are going to do some easy quests. All of them can be completed with little to no stats but if you are new to the game and if you are not used to the mechanics I recommend levelling up a little bit before doing them.
  • Vampire Slayer - Attack Exp
  • Tree Gnome Village - Attack Exp
  • Fight Arena - Attack Exp
  • Waterfall Quest - Attack & Strength Exp
  • Tree Gnome Village - Attack Exp
  • The Grand Tree -  Attack Exp
  • Witch’s House - HP Exp
  • Dragon Slayer 1 - Mix combat exp
  1. Second thing is to get that defence up to wear torso, berserker helmet and full void. You can get your defence up by solely doing quests or you can complete the necessary quests and train the rest yourself.

Half quest way;

  • Nature Spirit
  • The Fremennik Trials
  • Heroes’ Quest
  • Dragon Slayer 1
  • Monkey Madness 1 ( choose the strength option )

Full quest way;

  • Nature Spirit
  • The Fremennik Trials
  • Heroes’ Quest
  • Dragon Slayer 1
  • Monkey Madness 1 ( Choose the strength option )
  • Holy Grail
  1. After these you should start grinding for those power items to fasten your grind. I recommend getting the torso and full void with all the helmets. Void ranged will be your best in slot for training ranged and void magic will be for training mage. During this time also complete Horror from the Deep quest and get a book of darkness and a book of law. One is for ranged training, the other for magic.
  2. After getting those essential items you should start afking NMZ for getting an imbued berserker ring, archers ring and seer’s ring. After all this is done you should have good enough stats to complete fight caves to get your fire cape ( this can be done much earlier as well if you know what you are doing but I put it here so it becomes easier for you ). At this point you should also have enough stats to enter the warriors guild so go into the warriors guild and get yourself a rune defender.
  3. Continue your combat training through slayer until you reach level 69 Slayer as it is a requirement for MM 2. To get the best exp rates and slayer points I recommend doing slayer in the wilderness with Craw’s bow or Viggora’s chainmace. Be warned as other players can attack and kill you in the wilderness so don’t bring anything that you don’t want to lose.
  4. Start grinding quests ( check the main quest list ), especially the Recipe for Disaster requirements. Complete any and all easy quests as you will need 175 quest points to complete RFD. If you want to train your magic up first complete Desert Treasure to get access to Ancient Magicks.
  5. After you are done with all the quest grinding you will have a relatively high level account and the rest is just pure stat grinding. Train your ranged in the MM2 tunnels with chinchompas and your magic with Ice bursts again in the MM2 tunnels. For Strength and Attack afk train them in the nightmare zone.
  6. This is not necessary but if you are really good at the game you can sacrifice your fire cape to get an infernal cape as your last upgrade to your account.

Congratulations you just built yourself a zerker, enjoy!
